I was a student at this high school all four years, and I had a great high school experience. I had great teachers that were actively involved and truly wanted each student to succeed. I felt prepared for college, and enjoyed the variety of classes there were to choose from, like Drawing & Painting to Engineering Design. I enjoyed being a part of a school sports team, and felt that there was a wide variety of students there. Overall, I felt prepared for college courses and often look back on my experiences at Vista.

I have attended this school for the past years and I have been severely bullied. Many of the times these occurrences were in front of teachers and they did nothing nor did any of my classmates. I either asked for help later from the teachers as well as from the VP's and they said it was up to me to figure out to handle this or they forced me to confront my tormentors making me feel utterly defenseless and have lead to me having severe mental health problems. I have a 504 in place which is government document allowing accommodations for disabilites (mine is for ADHD) and for almost a year they refused these accommodations and I had to file a report to the office of civil rights and only until after this government agency came in they listened. I know hundreds of people who have been bullied at this school and I know dozens who continue to be bullied for their body weight, ethnicity, religion, and disability (whether or not it is clearly visible). Students are afraid of telling adults about being bullied because their is a culture of unwillingness to help and they know if they tell administration, administration will force them to confront their tormentors. Our school is known as the mean school, where if you send your kid here, they will be bullied. Please think of this before sending your child here.

Overall it's been well. Some teachers have put on more left-leaning socialist views but they were respectful. Beautiful campus with many different programs including the Guitar Programs and Academics. There is a growing problem with tensions from the LGBT group against other students and also racism is rare here, it's often that racism is directed towards mostly White and Middle Eastern students here. Overall, it is a great school but we should direct more attention to academics and athletics instead of extracurricular activities.

Still uses common core system. AP Homework load is way too much on students.

Teacher's can be biased and even racist against white students especially male students. Some but not all. It creates a hostile environment for white students.

Has respect for only certain character's at school. More left-leaning ideas.

Poor effort in school spirit. This is why we don't have a stadium.

Bullying isn't taken lightly here. Bullying can get you expelled if you're not careful. Although this is good to discourage it, misunderstandings can lead to a suspension. Hostility does not equal bullying.

This school has no respect for students, diversity, or the law. Administrators at this school regularly make their own rules in complete disregard for students' due process rights, and treat students in a harassing, threatening, and discriminating manner. Academically, this school is sub-par too.

This past summer, I had an interview to teach at Vista del Lago. The panel was very organized and the school entryway was impressive. I enjoyed the opportunity to possibly teach there, but at least this year that was not the case.

I've worked at several high schools and I can confidentially say that this is the best. The environment is intimate and nurturing. "Nerd culture" is pretty popular and students are allowed to be themselves--I love how safe it is for them. Plys, we have high standards in the classroom and have been very successful in adapting to the challenges of Common Core. Students are better prepared for college with the rigor we offer as well as the schedule. Time and time again, graduates tell me they experience success in college because of the foundation they got at Vista. Finally, we offer some awesome classes. Martini's guitar program and CME are excellent examples of this, or our sports medicine program, or our Mass Communications, or our Careers in Education program. I love everything about Vista, and I know our kids are benefiting from all we have to offer.

I'm a senior in Vista Del Lago and have been a student here for the entire four years. It was a competitive, fast-paced school for me, built with high academic success and many options for a challenging course. I found that the best things are my school were the teachers, the block schedule (providing for a true ability to obtain lots of credits and take many honors and AP courses), and our clubs. I've been president of two clubs here, SNAP Medical (founder) and Drama club and we have made a great improvement over utilizing innovation and ideas from our students. Folsom High seemed to be the supplement to the few things that Vista was lacking in. Folsom High is known for its performing arts in choir and theater and an extremely successful football team. If you are a parent making the choice, I'd base it off of what your student is most passionate about. If they love sports and arts I would recommend Folsom High, if they wish for strong academic success and rigor on a Bully-Free zone, then Vista is the place for them!

I LOVE VISTA! I've never "loved" school until now! I'm involved in so many programs and have never been happier! The only thing is the dress code while I applaud the modesty policy is extremely sexist! for the most part... Teachers and staff are fantastic

The school is excellent when it comes to acaemics, however, the students and teachres here are not very friendly as a whole. They think because they are wealthy and high achieving, they are better than everyone else....

Vista del Lago High School has an excellent principal, classes, and coaches. Students can be prepared to qualify for any university, including elite universities. The athletics are great. The students receive challenges and encouragement. Wonderful school!

My son is a freshman at Vista this year and is having such a great year. This school is night and day from Folsom Middle (I'll save that for my review on them). My son is very smart but not very motivated. Vista has brought a complete change in him. He excelled in regular classes and was quickly promoted to honors and is still excelling with the challenge. The block schedule offers so much more opportunity to learn things of interest (great for artists, btw) and moving more quickly through subjects that are less interesting helps keep him motivated to push through and do his best.

This school is great, I have a daughter that is been ranked among top 3 in her class. She loves the school, academics, teachers, campus, etc. I like the level of parent involvement. The issue is that socially she is absolutely miserable.I have never seen her this unhappy. What happens with the teens here? Are they really too cool to have fun? She is transferring to FSH next year. This is sad because the school is great , the principal's team, teachers, administrative personnel and resources in time of budget cuts are simply awesome.

Great school. An advantage- its so new..everyone is open to new ideas. Our first senior class is paving the way for new traditions and fun things to come. As mentioned by others, the block schedule is amazing, and helpful for people to get ahead, as well as help others catch up. The only drawback of this school is that the people are horribly vain and everyone is 'too cool' for each other. My life has been miserable socially. I think due to the small size of the student body, it is more difficult to find a good group of friends. I'm looking forward to tranferring to FHS next year.
