Our experience with this school was profoundly incompetent. The teachers refused to meet with parents unless the child is failing. The teachers are burnt out and lazy. They hand out busywork worksheets and don't engage with the students. They also go on 45 minute yelling sprees when things don't go their way. I would not recommend this school in 2026. The quality of education has really fallen off.

This school offers great character building and social emotional support, Mrs Schooler has been very positively impacting the school. Main limitation is that the school does not support approriately students who are at above grade level, which unfortunately leads to disengagemement of these students. For example, there is no advanced maths, all stundents in a grade have to follow the same curriculum. Advanced maths is offered in elementary school in other districts.

The teachers here care more about the physical, mental and spiritual health of our children than anywhere else.

Been at this school since 2016, my last child is currently in 2nd grade. Absolutely LOVE LOVE this school. Principal has been at this school since we started and we adore her!! Most mornings, shes out in the front greeting students and parents. Shes always on the kids and isnt afraid to call you to tell you your kid was not behaving. Ive gotten a couple phone calls, which I appreciate. All the teachers weve had between the three kids, phenomenal!! Top notch and caring. School also has a very involved PTA with lots of social functions for the kids and families. Programs are also offered after school such as early engineering, chess and art. Check out the state tests scores. This school is awesome!!

I was a guest teacher at this school and also interviewed for a teaching position. I felt the principal overly boasted about the school and then took extra time to extract my knowledge of programs she wanted to learn more about. I felt used. She did not ever bother getting back to me about the position, and that was inconsiderate. This school performs well because of clientele, not leadership or teaching.

Principle herself is a bully. Teachers were good and more welcoming when my 1st born finished his elementary few years ago.

THEY ARE KIDS!! LET THEM PLAY! Research has shown time and time again that structured play is best for kids development and learning. NOT WORKSHEET AFTER WORKSHEET!

I don't love this school. My daughter (1st grade) has an absurd amount of homework for her age. In K she also had way too much homework that was focused on worksheets. THESE ARE KIDS! THEY SHOULD BE PLAYING! Research has shown time and time again that kids learn best through structured play and so much of what my daughter does is sitting at her desk doing worksheets or on the computer doing i-ready (which is a terrible program!) She took a math placement test in the middle of the year and did poorly on it and so then was stuck doing the easiest i-ready math homework for months just because of one bad testing day. This is school is so focused on computer testing that the kids are missing out on being kids.

My son has been going to school here since Kindergarten (now entering the fourth grade) and has Autism. I saw him flourish from a non-verbal, disengaged child to having a huge receptive language capacity and a true curiosity for the world and discovering novel experiences. They have so much compassion for their students, and are so very interested in their well-being I'm continually blown away by their efforts and progressive attitudes towards their students. I am certain my boy got absolutely the best education he could have received from here, services for his needs, and Russell Ranch has impacted our lives for the better. They give nothing but their absolute best.

I love Russell Ranch. My daughter came from another Folsom school which was also very good but was not challenged in her daily curriculum. I called up Russell Ranch and they transferred me to the principal, Mr. Peterson, right away. He spoke with me for over 30 minutes about the programs they have at Russell Ranch that would enhance the current curriculum. My husband and I went in and spoke with him the same week and signed up our child the following Monday. We are very happy with her teacher, the student and parent participation, and overall staff. They offer GATE curriculum to students who are identified as GATE based on test scores so there is additional academic work if your child is not currently challenged enough. We're very happy with our decision to attend Russell Ranch. They currently have the highest API scores out of all the elementary schools in the Folsom-Cordova district.

Russell Ranch is a fantastic school that touches every student and challenges students at their levels. I am very pleased to have both my kids going here and feel like the staff truly cares about the students.

I love the office staff at Russell Ranch, Coleen and Amanda are the best school secretary's ever. The teacher really good, I have had nothing but excellent teachers for my kids.

Love, love, love Russell Ranch! Although we're newer to the school, we've really appreciated the teachers we've had to date. We appreciate how the students rotate through centers and get to experience multiple teaching styles. Our BASE program offering additional reading, math and computer time is a great way to extend the school day and enhance learning. Our PTA is a great collaboration between our parents and our incredibly involved staff resulting in programs and activities that enhance the standard offerings by the district and really add color and depth to the student experience. We're thankful for the Kindergarten Early Start Program and all of the clubs available to our children. And need I mention the API scores? :) Russell Ranch Elementary is giving my kids the solid foundation they will need to be successful later in life. They are not only learning a ton, but also enjoying it.

I'm very happy with the teachers, leadership, and wonderful programs offered at the school. The GATE and science programs are great and my kids love them. Could not be happier with our choice of neighborhood and school.

One of my children goes to this school and another goes to another one nearby. To use an analogy, this school feels like the Science and Engineering department of a company while the other school feels like the Sales and Marketing department. They're both very good but have a different culture. Hope this helps. : )

From past 4 years my child is attending this school. I am happy with the class teachers she had. Good in teaching. She likes all the teachers she had.She loves her school.

One of the wonderful characteristics of the Russell Ranch staff is the variety of expertise and experience. No student on campus is with ONE teacher 100% of the school year. Students are rotated through a variety of programs and instruction led by different teachers based on what would benefit them best. I am disappointed to think that there are parents who value one staff member over another because of reputation, style, age, or just plain personal opinion. It's the entire TEAM that makes Russell Ranch successful!

Principal is very disengaged. He doesn't respond to any request you make even via email. My wife helps out in the classroom twice weekly and is one of the key folks that build and run the haunted house during the Fall Festival. Every year we are told that are children will be aligned with the best teacher suited to their personality and every year we seem to get the exact opposite-a teacher that is about to retire or is considered to be less interested in teaching than collecting a paycheck. Thinking strongly of private school in the area.

Our school is now in its fourth year and running quite well. I have read some of the previous negative comments about our principal, and I disagree with them. These were probably the parents that like to whine and complain about every little issue in life and see themselves and their children as perfect. Our principal is a hard worker, is always on campus interacting with staff, students, and parents. He is real.
