Grant High School was a life changing experience for me. This is a school with many opportunities, if you seek them. I was college ready, and a top student. I also was an athlete and found the programs to be amazing. While Grant is lacking in funding it makes up for it in spirit. Im sad to hear alot of the staff that were there when I attended are no longer working there, but that staff made the school as amazing as it is. I feel this school would have better ratings if more people knew to post reviews on this site. When there are only negative experiences being broadcasted and the people with positive experiences are not doing reviews, it doesn't create a cumulative review thats not based on bias.
This school has the greatest potential, and the greatest stories to go along with it. I blame the city and the state for not putting more into the school considering its location. Despite the adversity, those who have strong pacer pride, work hard to give the school a better name.

I'm a senior student currently at Grant, and unfortunately it has fallen off more so than the past three years I've spent here. This pandemic hit hard, but even then they were far less than prepared than I thought they would be to reopen in person. Every day feels like conditions get worse. Classes with more than 30 students, classes being held outside in near 100° heat, air conditioners going out in multiple classrooms without so much as a "We'll get on it soon". They are not social distancing properly, and they are having some kids wait over an hour to get a bus home. I don't fault the teachers and most staff, as a lot of them aren't in control of the funding and what it's used for, but I feel like more focus is being put on the construction rather than the actual students or teachers. I wish this was a more positive review, that I could recommend this school, but I truly can't. Please try a different place for your kid, or at least wait until you are aware if this school has gotten everything straightened out.

They do not post anything on school loop to let the students/parents see what the assignments is or where to find the criteria to complete the work

They never respond to emails and when they do respond it dosent provide the parent any rxtra help or information about your childs grades or progression my son is in an iep and it still dosent make any difference.

No they dont even try to occomidate to the students dissabilities or comunicate very well with the students parents either

Grant High School does a great job of working with students using a holistic model. Counselors, teachers and administration are working with students through some very challenging obstacles such as homelessness, mental illness, effects of poverty etc. Test scores and other indicators don't capture the amount of love and support provided to students. As a parent of two high performing students, I am proud of what they received from Grant High School. My hope is that Grant High will receive more funding in order to provide the specialized support needed to improve test scores.

Though Grant HS is in a low income and crime ridden community it's administration inspires the students to be academically successful and strive for a prosperous future. There is room for improvement with the instructors and administration, the parents need to engage as well to ensure their child is getting a good education. Grant is a good high and there are good students. It should be respected for it is the 3rd oldest school in Sacramento CA.
