The preschool program, Children's House, is an exceptional Montessori program. The teachers are actually properly Montessori certified. They prpvide a nurturing and motivating environment. Our children were more than ready for kindergarten after completing this program. We highly recommend this program.

We've been enjoying our time at mmca since preschool and kept recommending it to all for years...Unfortunately this school has gone downhill in quality quite a bit each year we have attended.

My Daughter loves her teachers, loves her friends and loves learning. The only thing she does not love is sitting outside in the cold to have her snack and eat her lunch. I cannot recommend a school that sits its students outside in temperatures as low as 44 degrees to have their meals while its staff sits in a warm, cozy lunchroom to have their meals. I have been at the school during lunch meals and have personally witnessed the kids pulling their arms inside their coats to keep warm. My daughter and other kids in her class have told me they are cold. When I ask the Principal why the kids are sitting outside when the temperature is 44 degrees. The Principal told me the lunchroom would stay closed and the students would have their meals outside until he felt it was too cold.

Our two children are thriving and being appropriately challenged at MMCA. Love the parent involvement, specialized classes and clubs, and dedicated teachers. When I am in the classroom volunteering, I also find the students to be respectful and supportive of each other.

My child has been here for a year and has dealt with bullying issues that were ignored and remained unaddressed allowing the behavior to fester and spread to other kids as well. If your child needs any help from the administration (IEP or otherwise), good luck jumping through all the hoops to no avail. Charters are not held to the same threshold as public schools. The teachers were great and tried to work with us and I commend them for the effort. We did not have a pleasant experience. The child was in kindergarten.

This is a public school cosplaying as Montessori. There is nothing Montessori going on here. In the three months my 7 year old attended she was bullied and had her lunch stolen and its was written off as thats what happens in second grade! Excuse me? Not quite. The classroom sizes are absolutely huge also. My childs class ran in the park next to the school twice a week with no teacher supervision which made me very uncomfortable. Lots of mean girl mentality and no one seems to want to do anything about it. Also it was nothing but handouts. The same ones with slightly different questions every week. Very disappointing.

My children have been attending this school for the past 7 and 9 years, respectively. The teachers, starting in preschool, have created a nuturing and blended montessori clasroom. The teachers have taken my children and helped them exceed at their strengths and bridge the gap on their weaknesses. The family community feeling is great. All of the teachers know all of the kids, as does the administration. We enjoy the garden, sports program and the fact that our kids get art, music, pe, history and science throughout their days here. Our principal is often out at recess playing a game with the kids even. Our school has had very little teacher turnover in the time our kids have been here, and that says a lot about the dedication to the Montessori philosophy blended with the state standards.

My children have been attending this school since preschool. They have been challenged in subjects they excel in and have been given the extra support in the subjects they struggled with. The teachers are Montessori trained and committed to the school as can be seen by the lack of turnover. I like that the school still teaches art, music, history and science unlike many schools in the area. I like that my children get to work in the garden and have meaningful and multiple field trips.

The Teen Community Emergency Response Training (Teen CERT) program, robotics, and interactive history in the middle school program is awesome! I like that my son is switching teachers for different subjects (like at a regular middle school), but within a small school environment. It's a great group of kids and an even better staff to teach them.

I have three kids in the school, 1st/2nd/4th grade. I myself am very well educated and want some dynamic school that meets all three of there needs and reaches out and teaches and instructs each individually. My son had a hard time focusing and the teachers went the extra mile and helped him - thank you. My other kids teachers were also amazing - It's the parents job to teach and help their kids help hit and unlock their child's potential. The teachers at MMCA do try to unlock their potential and have a genuine concern.

This school from the administration down to the classroom teachers are not focused on educationing, stimulating or allowing children to progress. I have watched my child sit and do work that she did the year prior at her old school and never learn anything new. Teachers have no plan to teach any topic to the class. Lack of organization, classroom control, and inability to provide parents with an exact recap of what child has learned at any given time. Do Not Wait for this school..... NOT A MONTESSORI. Your child will learn more at home with you or in your neighborhood public school. I have witnessed "new discipline" plans to destroy a child's self esteem, demean them in publicly, and focus the day on discipline because the teachers can't control the class. The principal is disconnected and has no idea of what is NOT happening in the school. Parents provide 50% of the daily instruction as "volunteer hours"

Our children have attended this school for the past 2 years and we cannot speak highly enough about it. This school is a "blend" of both the Montessori philosophy along with traditional school standards, which we feel will actually provide a better foundation when moving on to high school. The key to this school's success (any school, really) is to recognize that the school is not solely responsible for the successful teaching of your children -- PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT is key! The only negative at MMCA is that you see the same group of parents volunteering each year, while the majority do not put in the time required of them.

While the "newness" of the campus is a plus, the bottom line is that Montessori principals are not adequately applied here nor or all of the instructors "montessory credentialed". Many of the students initially admitted had disciplinary problems/learning deficiencies in other schools and had no prior Montessori educational base. When you lack leadership in students, test scores decline and to lower the bar of expectation is unacceptable. The overall education level is not equitable here in comparison to other schools and will take several years to turn get them up to speed if ever.

This is a very poor excuse for a school. They specialize in hand-outs, hand-outs, and more hand-outs. No textbooks. Lots of silent reading for kids who get their work done. Very little in the way of dynamic teaching, collaborative learning, or curiosity-based research. Instead of real Montessori, you get "teach to the standards." So, why bother going to a charter? This is a boring, boring school.
