We had our worse experience in this school with my son. Anderson the principle took my child for a trial. I told her that I am looking for a school that supported his needs. I was open about every single detail about him. She oversold her school and said it sounds a great fit. Nonetheless, we are experienced family with several local and in the Bay Area private schools in which all amazing quality.

It turned out that she did not take my son bc of the exactly disability he has and I was very upfront. That alone wasn't the biggest issues. Anderson loves gossiping and called my child's previous school and said horrible things. That school contacted immediately. Anderson has zero respect for kids. She could just not take him and stay as it is. But, call and talk about my son for a school that actually like him it looked so bad on her. Both schools are local.

The academics were very disappointed. All public schools and private school is very ahead of the academics here. My son was introduced in April to the coins and he was introduced the year prior in kindergarten. He ended uo teaching the kids that day and every day. My son reported kids calling bad names constantly and teachers just ignoring. I am still wondering if this is a school for kids with bad behavior and poor academic performance after my son reported so many of both issues.

Don't waste your time. There are great private schools around here.

I have loved this school since I found it in 2013 for my then 2nd grade boy who went through MVA, graduated form ORHS with a 3.99 and graduated form college with a 3.8 in Spanish with a minor in Chemistry. He has told me multiple times that the skills he learned at MVA especially the writing and critical thinking, continues to serve him today as he manages 2 skilled nursing homes in the Sacramento area. Marble Valley Academy understands that in conjunction with strong academics and discipline , To be of truly high intelligence, one must have an understanding and appreciation of other people. As adults we understand the need for people skills. We also all know adults who, although highly intelligent in their field, do not have the ability to lead, or even communicate effectively. MVA not only pushes their students to excel in academics, but emotionally and mentally as well. The new buzz word this year is grit. They are teaching and guiding students to be strong mentally; to think outside the box (critical thinkers), and to advocate for themselves (problem solve) so after they leave MVA the students can be successful wherever they go doing whatever they choose. Although MVA has tripled in size since its creation (which speaks to the uniqueness and need for what they are offering parents and students), it has maintained its small student to teacher ratio, allowing teachers to give attention to the individual students, all why getting accolades from WASC accreditation and launching an online hybrid high school program. My older children still maintain friendships with some of their teachers and friends from MVA because of their fantastic shared experiences there. It is truly a unique, safe and wonderful environment for children to learn & grow. I cannot recommend it enough especially when I see what the he other options are for education. If you are looking for a private school you would be remiss to not visit Marble Valley Academy and see it for yourself.

As a parent here now at MVA for 2 years having moved from the Bay Area, I have very strong opinions to the contrary of what this parent/family has experienced. I will not say their experience is not real, but it is a much different one that we have had. The owners issue seems a little far stretched as in my 2 years I have yet to know the owners or been made aware of who their children are. I will support the statement that MVA prides itself in instructed curriculum to the extent that they see each child with specific strengths and weaknesses and caters accordingly. Thats why is has been so magical for both my children. They are more advanced when they were admitted, and I have seen them grow in many other ways that they were not getting at their previous academic school. There are a handful of teachers I have been told who have been there for over 15 years and a few going on 4 or 5 so I do not think that is an accurate statement either. Ms. Angela who is the Dean of Students could not be more capable to handle the emotional problems that the students run into which we all KNOW as parents occur at every school. But you do not need to believe me, they offer shadow days for all students as to feel the environment and decide if its best for your child. Private schools are not for everyone, but if you are looking for a change and you want magic in education, you should check them out.

I put my son in the preschool here during COVID for a lot of reasons. I clicked with Mrs. Crangle so well over the phone & they were open to me touring the school beforehand. There were many schools only doing video tours, and wanted me to drop off my son outside. My son has high functioning autism, and I couldn't not walk him in on his first day- especially after moving to a new city. They also didn't have a nap requirement which was extremely helpful since my son was done with naps a year before this. The plan was to transition him to public school for kindergarten because the schools are so great in EDH. There was absolutely no question to keep him at MVA until 8th grade after he finished preschool. His development exploded this year at MVA. The teachers were so attentive to him and would keep me informed via text. The small class sizes mean everything, my son was never lost in the shuffle. I could tell Miss Kira truly cared about my son.

Miss Angela who is the communications director was also very hands on with all the children. I was surprised to understand just how much she knew about my son & what he responded to v what he did not. After we met with the teachers to discuss readiness for kindergarten- there was no question that we were staying. My son also did the summer program and came home chattering about different countries he was learning about. Miss jones who worked with him during summer will also be his kindergarten teacher- and I couldn't believe how on top of it she was. MVA took my son from a shy 4 year old who almost never spoke up- to a confident 5 year old who was very sure of himself. We call MVA his "big kid school." We just love MVA & if they ever extended to high school, we'd definitely be on board to stay.

We transferred here after being in our local (and very good) public school. My kiddo has some unique learning needs and didn't quite "fit" in the public school setting. His self confidence was down and although he loved his peers, he was starting to hate school. This was heartbreaking for us. We decided to give Marble Valley a try and my son is happy and seems to really enjoy school again. He loves his teacher and I can already tell he is absorbing what he's learning in class. After his first week of school, he came home singing spanish songs and telling his sister how the earth's oceans were created. He knows how to do his homework now without me having to re-teach it to him nightly. We are very pleased and excited about discovering this school and it's approach to learning.

I got texts from the teacher at recess to alert me to anything fishy that was going on so I would have full knowledge and know how to follow up if that was needed.

If a particular class is having a problem with any social issue the principal will begin weekly classes teaching that class how to deal with each other and their emotions.

We moved to EDH for the sole purpose of our kids attending Marble Valley Academy because our kids were lost and floundering in traditional public school. Marble Valley's small class sizes, minimal homework load, nurturing environment, focus on the thrill and enjoyment of learning (instead of on passing a test or a government-driven curriculum), and desire to do everything possible to make the children feel loved and to see them succeed cannot be paralleled. The principal seeks out my daughter every day at the beginning of the day to say something positive to her so she gets the love and recognition that helps her have a successful day. The teachers will text me pictures or messages to let me know how my children are doing and to communicate any ideas they have that will help. We value MVA, for our children, above all other school choices.

As a parent, I have been very impressed with this school. My son went to the local public middle school before my husband and I decided to make the switch to Marble Valley Academy. We were looking for a smaller class size where my son wouldn't be just another number. We were also looking for a more well rounded education that extended beyond the normal subjects.

Mrs. Andrus, the principal, sat down with me prior to my son being enrolled and talked about what we were looking for in his education/ development and their school philosophy. I had a very good feeling about our decision based on that conversation. I quickly recognized that she is not only an outstanding administrator, but also a talented educator. In addition, you will see her announcing a choir performance one evening and the next day cheering on the soccer team. I don't know how she does it, but she loves those kids and is truly amazing!

So as we anticipated, moving from public to private school was an adjustment for our son. He came in nervous about friendships,appearances, and grades, because that was what he was accustomed to at his prior school. He soon realized that everyone at this school was friendly, accepting, and allowed to be a kid. He also recognized that the kids work with each other vs. compete against each other. This makes for a true learning environment. So refreshing in our community!

My daughter is graduating 5th grade in one week and I have already enrolled her in next years 6th grade class at MVA. She has shadowed 2 days and has been thrilled by her experience. She said she doesn't even want to have a summer vacation and just wants to start at Marble ValIey.:-)

My child has special needs and has been welcomed and supported in this environment beyond anything we could have imagined. The academic standards are high and, at times, have proved challenging for my child, but through open, honest, and (if needed) almost daily communication with teachers and staff, he has thrived. We had tried several schools prior to settling in at MVA, and frankly never expected the level of success that our child has achieved. Our child is known and cherished by all of the faculty and staff, as is each and every child at the school. My child has sweet and enthusiastic friendships and looks forward to seeing his peers every day. Yes, the school is owned by a lovely woman who initially got the idea for starting a school for her growing extended family, but we had been there for almost two years before we even heard that piece of information. There is no religious agenda. There are loving, truly dedicated educators who are driven to help the "whole child" achieve his/her highest potential through art, music, sports, communication, academics and social opportunities. We are extremely grateful for Marble Valley Academy and wish that they would magically sprout grades 9 - 12 just in time for us to continue there!

I am extremely proud of saying I graduated from Marble Valley Academy. Every teacher here, especially Miss A, were very helpful. They cared about my education. Miss A and Mrs. Lambert, the math teacher, went out of their way to provide me and my friend advanced math classes. I am very grateful for that. The school is small, so everybody knows each other and cares about each other. The school excels in performing arts, which is expressed through talent shows, musical classes, and a drama group called PGY. Marble Valley more than prepared me for my freshman year of high school.

This is just an extended homeschool for the owner's family (affiliated with a religion encouraging large families...). They don't even try to hide the preferential treatment of "their" kids.

Marble Valley School has provided a great education and great experience for my kids. They actually look forward to school. They have gained in academic profiency and confidence, but they love their relationships with the teachers and other students. They are treated like they are significant. I feel like my children could not be in better hands. My children also have had a chance to participate in school sports, drama, music, and art in a way my older children who went to public and other private schools could not. Marble Valley School has gotten a bad reputation in the area for not being academically focused. This could not be farther from the truth. The school is highly academic and focuses on writing, science and math. The spiral curriculum allows an amazing retention ability for students as they are using their classroom information in real situations and areas of their life. With group collaboration and high academic focus, the kids come out loving to learn and processing information on so many levels. If you are looking for a high academic school that caters to the individual, then look no further! Try it for one day, and you will no doubt be confident that your child is in the best environment possible.

I'm just another parent who tries to provide the very best for my three sons and with MVS I've found a place where I really feel like my boy's academic, athletic and extracurricular needs are met. Gwen, the head educator there, knows each of my sons personally and has found a way to keep them engaged every day in learning. As a result?... My boys LOVE school and are testing better than they ever have in every subject - what more can I say.
