We have loved this school since starting 8 yrs ago. It has changed since covid hit, but I feel slowly the strict foundation in which it was built is coming back. The students here are treated fairly & the staff support all kids equally. They provide the extra help to students to bring them on track if falling behind. If any bullying is started they handle it right away, once brought to their attention. Communication between parent/teacher/principal could improve.
Each grade has approximately 60 students with 2 teachers & 1 assistant/SGI. The substitute teachers are Teachers in training thru Navigator Schools which give continued education on those days vs a free day as in other schools. Everyone collaborates together within the school and have a morning group meeting before school starts. Then once the students arrive the students have a "Morning Message" then get sent off to classrooms. Morning Message consists of reinstating the Navigator ways, news/info, goals & successes with positive reinforcement.
The downfalls of this school in my opinion, are that it's on a shared campus with a Hollister school District elementary school. This causes issues with drop off/pick up, campus security, shared environment, no school gym/lockers, shared multi purpose room, no music/track/field/football & the basketball courts are on asphalt & need major updating. For elementary level this wasn't too much of an issue, but I see the downside for the Middle (6-8) school children.
They do their best with what is provided & that's what keeps my family here. We are a Navigator Charter school connected with Watsonville Prep & Gilroy Prep.

This is the BEST school. The staff and teachers are amazing. Everyone is very kind, flexible, patient, and communicates efficiently with parents and the school as a whole. Not to mention my child has learned for more than I ever did at his age! I am blessed to have my child in this school and I recommend it to everyone that I know. Thank you to everyone at Hollister Prep!
