The teachers are great but the administrators are abominable. They wont protect your kids. Literally, your kids arent safe there. We are literally pulling our kids from the school because they are doing nothing about recurrent physical violence on campus despite multiple parents concerns and appealing to the district (Newcastle Elementary School District). And, btw, the district also turned a blind eye to the violence.

Run of your child has an Iep and Autism. My oldest did well, but they had more seasoned teachers beforea huge staff turn over.
My son is struggling and the quality of the teachers and instruction is not as good as public schools. A lot of testing and not teaching the standards in depth.
Parent voices are not heard like they use to be. Legal deadlines are not followed for the IEP .
Low level of social emotional support for students.

Our three kids adapted very quickly to their new school from their old public school. Were on year two and so far weve had nothing but amazing teachers. The teachers are great with communicating to the students and parents with their expectations. Our kids seem challenged and never bored with their school work. Weve been pretty impressed with the schools use of technology compared to public school.

All 4 of my children attends Rocklin Academy Gateway. We are here to stay because of the excellent leadership skills and academic excellency this school is providing. All the teachers and staffs have been nothing, but very kind, supportive, and professional. This year is my two older children's 3rd year here and my two younger will attend this Fall. I cannot applaud enough on how well most Rocklin's school systems are; better yet, Rocklin Academy Gateway. One thing I'd suggest is for the school to create a separate driveway to the school instead of driving through the business buildings nearby. It is not a huge deal, but the traffic flow would've been a breeze to pickup and access the school buildings.

I tend to be more progressive in my idea of homework. Having lived in Europe for over a year. I like that the younger grades have minimal homework and the middle schoolers have more project based work. I LOVE that you can monitor their homework assignments via Google Classroom!

My husband and I are parents of 4 children who are students attending this school. One of which is on the spectrum and special needs. Though we (our son, his teachers, school staff, my husband and I) have had a lot of difficult days and many I.E.P./school meetings...overall, I think this school deserves the highest rating possible (which on here would be a 5). The teachers we have had so far are amazing (for all 4 of our kids) and you can tell they want the best for their students and genuinely care about each child's progress.
R.A.G. (Rocklin Academy Gateway) has received a lot of negative publicity in the last couple years over following the law by keeping the identity and privacy of a transgender Kindergarten student protected. When we saw the news about a transgender ceremony and book reading, we too were initially concerned, especially since we had a Kindergartner attending there. We were able to sort out, to the best of our knowledge, what actually transpired without specific details on whom or when that the ceremony was the normal Kindergarten graduation ceremony, not a transgender reveal. The book, albeit perhaps not advisable to read to 5 and 6 year olds who may or may not understand what gender is yet...was on the approved reading list and brought by the student; not specifically selected by the teacher. However, personal opinions on what 'could' have been done differently aside...even in the midst of heightened media attention, threats, controversy and adverse student body responses...the school maintained their stance and followed state law. Even if you disagree with the political or social controversy you can be certain of this fact...they will protect your child, your family's identity and provide a safe environment for the student NO MATTER WHAT. I respect that and applaud them for their composure through the entire ordeal. We NEED MORE SCHOOLS LIKE THIS ONE!

Again, we have an autistic son attending here. He has a lot of regressive behaviors and tendencies. The school has been very receptive to parent recommendations and even utilized outside resources such as ABA companies to provide assessments.

10 out 10! Overall, this school has been great to work with. I dont say that loosely or without reason. They work with parents, not against them.

This is a great school. They try their best to provide good education and look for ways to make sure kids learn and understand the material. Unfortunately, like everywhere else you cannot make everyone happy.

This school is terrible, they are overprotective and super worried about getting sued. For example, because one person sprained their ankle, they banned soccer!!?! They have also banned tag, football, running to fast, the ball touching your feet and much more. Why go to this school? There traffic routes are also ridiculous and they dont know it!

Great teachers. Every month they set goals for the whole grade level to ensure all the kids become proficient at key topics.

This is an excellent school. The curriculum is very rigorous. Teachers are great. Theres a lot of differentiation in the classroom to meet each students needs. Many parents volunteer and provide enriching experiences. Theres a lunch program that provides real healthy hot lunch for very low cost. The after school program is great.... We feel so lucky to be part of this community....

Homework does not take a lot of time; but there is homework and special projects that reinforce the school program.

Our experience with this school has been excellent. The education our kids are receiving seems to be much broader and at a higher level than our previous local schools we attended. I am extremely pleased with the curriculum and the overall experience.

This is definitely an area of focus at the school and I am proud that my children are in a school where these are strong values.

There are a lot of great schools in the Rocklin/Roseville area, and Rocklin Academy is definitely one of them! I have a first grader who's been there for two years now, and will be enrolling another one of my children in kinder next year. The Core Knowledge curriculum is second to none! The vocabulary and content my student comes home teaching ME is impressive and makes me jealous I didn't have the same education at such a young age. My student meets with an older-grade "buddy" each week at the school, which fosters community in the school among students. The teachers are exceptional and all work tremendously hard to challenge and support all abilities. I have found all teachers I've encountered to be encouraging, supportive, and are willing to meet any time during the day - before or after school or even during lunch hours! Each year, I feel like my student could get any of the teachers and thrive, which is a great relief. I also appreciate that my daughter is and will be learning technology skills like typing so early. It's not a perfect school (traffic at dismissal is congested, there's no grass for students to run on, etc.), but I've found that the teachers and administrators are always wanting to improve and will do what's best for students to ensure a safe and challenging learning experience for all the students.

Rocklin Academy Gateway is a great school and as a parent, I believe its a dream come true for our children to be attending this place. Children from different cultures are welcomed. I love the school administration and how the teachers work hard to make sure that the students are trying their best in every step they take. We have two children and they both started Gateway since it opened, and its very easy to notice how much they look out to protect their students. Another important thing is parents are encouraged and welcomed to volunteer in the school and be apart in our childrens education. It is a team effort, and its very important as a parent that we work together with teachers, as it will support our children. The school has built a very nice community and its wonderful to see how it has developed so much over the years. Our children enjoy going to school every day and just by hearing their daily experiences, its easy to tell how much they enjoy it. This shows how much they are learning and how much our children are improving year after year. They give the children the opportunity to learn and grow, and its a safe place for them. As a parent, we feel very fortunate to have our children attend Rocklin Academy Gateway. I am saying straight from my heart, and I feel very blessed to be part of the Rocklin family of schools.

I have never been so belittled before. I had an issue with my child's teacher, so I asked her, the principle, the superintendent, and then the school's board members about it. They were all extremely hostile, condescending, and ultimately dismissed every single one of my concerns. They are great when they ask you to donate your time and money to the school. Once you disagree with anything they say or do, they will simply say "This is a school of choice. You may choose to leave if you don't like it." They treat your child like a data point. Numbers and dollar signs are all they care about. We finally left after they told me to keep my mouth shut about what had happened to my child. We've been here since they opened their doors and since we haven't been anywhere else, I thought that was just how schools are nowadays. Our new school couldn't be more supportive and accepting, and my eyes have now been opened. If you want to just send your children away for 7 hours and not care about what happens to them, this is the perfect school for you. If you want to be involved in their education at all, stay far, far away from indoctrinating camp.

We went to Gateway looking for an alternative to traditional public education. Sadly, all we experienced was strife. We eventually left because the administration was obtuse to valid concerns presented by parents. Parents are only treated as partners when the school needs your help. Other than that they want parents to keep their mouths shut when issues arise at the school. And there are many issues. There are some great teachers at this school, but if you don't hit the lottery and get one of those teachers, good luck. If you do get a good teacher you still have to deal with the rigid environment (no running on the playground, no community time or place to talk with other parents, not enough room for all families at school events, and the attitude that their waitlist grants them the weight to treat parents disrespectfully). I would not recommend this school to anyone.

We were at Gateway from the very beginning. Our initial experience was not good, but we decided to stay because of the great test scores. We quickly found out that test scores is all this School cares about. They believe that the teachers and administration are always right and do not listen to parent concerns. They are not honest and the leadership is questionable. I would not recommend that anyone attend this school unless the administration and board are held accountable for how they are running the School. There is no oversight and no accountability for teachers or the administration. The education is great, however they feel that they can teach their own worldly values to the students without telling the parents. We have left along with many many other families because we were not valued and our children were being taught unethical things. If you are happy at your local school and you feel listened to and valued I would stay where you are.

This school is honestly horrible. The teachers don't know what they are doing. It is a school in behind a RC Wiley. The traffic flow causes all kinds of problems and it takes forever to pick up your child. The aids are clueless and rude. The teachers are also very rude, putting down kids who don't understand the subject matter. The dress code rules are ridiculous. I, amoung other girls, got a referral for showing a bra strap on accident. The phone rules are also not thought through at all. Kids are not allowed to have their phones out at all, even if they need to contact parents after school. The teachers will take their phones and they can only get them back with a parent. We don't have many lunch/recess activities. I used to go there and i'm so glad I left. Please don't send your kid there. It is not the trouble they will have. Thank you.

Our child has been attending since this campus opened. While the school has had a normal amount of growing pains (like traffic issues) overall we are so pleased with the school. Our child has a 504 and the school is quick to accommodate him. The administration is very responsive and takes safety issues seriously.
I volunteer in class and see first hand how well they tailor the instruction to each child's individual skill level. They arrange the grade levels around "hubs" or flexible use areas. This allows them to shift students for every lesson (math, spelling etc) and each teacher takes a class-sized group of similar skill level. Within the groups they break into three smaller skill-level groups. Each child's skill level is adjusted throughout the year as needed. I am so impressed with how well the kids learn this way!
Additionally, their curriculum is impressive. They use a curriculum that "wraps around" each year. So kids will see the same subject matter to greater depths each year (like the human body, or immigration).
We feel so lucky we made it in the lottery and our child will be attending here through middle school at least.

This is a great school. I feel fortunate to have my kid attending. We are on year two and the teachers have been awesome. My kid loves going to school every day. Bullying is a non issue - any disagreements that may escalate are dealt with immediately and positive reward system in place. This school should be duplicated over and over again. We are very happy.
