I came to the school with negative perceptions from previous reviews, but after talking to the principal I decided to enroll my kids there. I do not regret it. the teachers are dedicated and management do their best for the best interest of my kids. they communicate with me and try to engage students in several ways.

Posted: April 5, 2019

My kids do not bring homework home except for reading, but this is based on research on kids performance so I am ok with that

Posted: April 5, 2019

Teachers do their best with kids. my children are happy with the teacher's approaches to education and I have observed improvement in their knowledge and performance.

Posted: April 5, 2019

The school staff do their best to develop a good personality. They have many activities to encourage multiculturalism and compassion. They have monthly recognition of students that demonstrate these qualities. they need more cooperation from families though.

Sarah, the principal, is great in every way. she communicates with parents and listen to them, she does her best to find opportunities for the kids, she is involved with the children and cares about them. I think the success of JC Crumpton is mainly because of her activities and leadership style.

My kids were not involved in any bullying. so, I cannot answer this question

The principal is amazing! I frequently see her outside in the mornings greeting students and parents and helping to keep our children safe with the morning drop-off traffic. She keeps me up to date with the "Weekly Happenings" on Parent Square and Class Dojo. The office staff is great and the bilingual liaison is available for parents who don't speak English.

Weekly homework assignments tie directly into the curriculum being taught. Usually math, ELA and a reading log.

Posted: March 3, 2019

Teachers assign relevant homework and the teachers I have interacted with have excellent behavior management techniques. The use of "attention getters" and other incentives as well as natural consequences make for a wonderful classroom environment. Also the use of Class Dojo keeps me up to date with events and due dates.

Students seen displaying positive behavior are given STAR dollars which can be used to get something from the student store. There is also the monthly S.T.A.R assembly (Safe, There and ready, Acting responsibly, Respect) where teachers award students who exhibit those characteristics.

My child loves coming to school! The teachers and staff are caring and make my child feel welcomed. Homework is relevant and well balanced. Communication is great whether it is through Class Dojo, Parent Square or in person. I feel confident my child will have fun, be safe and learn in an engaging environment.

My child receives a weekly homework packet to complete. I feel it’s enough - not too little and not overwhelming. Instructions could be a little more clear at times, but since it is taken from a text book, it is no fault of the teacher.

Our children are taught these characteristics at school, but I don’t feel that it’s a high priority compared to learning subjects.

I would rate JC Crumpton a 7/10. The teaching staff is great and the kids in my daughter’s class seem to be well behaved, but my daughter does tell me that other kids that she plays with during recess can be nice one day and mean the next day depending on who they are hanging out with.

Overall there are positives in that it seems academically the school has been improving as of late but it needs to work on developing a positive culture within the school and outside. There are also some safety issues that involve multiple entryways with adults only assigned to the main entrance at times. The community seems safe but it’s better to be proactive than reactive to the development of an action or event that can result in a student becoming unsafe. Please, assign an adult to each of the entrances so that the school is aware of who enters and exists the school at all times. It would also be great if the students were greeted by the principal or vice principal as they walk into the school. This would give them an opportunity to meet the parents of their students and establish a positive and direct connection with the community they serve. The school has many positive things going for it such as the many events and fundraisers that provide a great experience for the school, parents, and students.

Homework should be well balanced between technology and paper pencil assignments.

Posted: March 1, 2019

My observations have been of students pushing each other in line before school and rushing out the gate after school with little to no adult supervision. Other schools have students line up orderly and quietly while adults are always present at the main gates as students are released from school. The school does seem to be developing a culture of respect and teachers are effective in speaking with their students when they break one of the essential characters.

Posted: March 1, 2019

I have yet to meet the principal this year. The principal might being doing a good job leading the staff but establishing connections with the community and the student's parents/guardians is not present. Also, the principal or MPUSD needs to consider office staff members that speak more than one language in order to better communicate with the diverse population is serves.

Posted: March 1, 2019

The school has a modern and differentiated approach to teaching.

Posted: March 1, 2019

Students who bully need to be monitored and should receive emotional and behavioral supports (Tier II behavioral interventions or as need). Bulling seems to happen in the playground and not dealt with effectively at times. The PSIS assemblies are a good way of promoting school wide social, emotional, and academic recognition.

Posted: March 1, 2019

my son is not given irrelevant homework just for the sake of homework, instead they are given projects every once in a while and reading targets, good balance

Posted: March 1, 2019

there was only one bad year (teacher), the leadership were aware but had to address the situation through the proper procedures, parents are welcomed to get involved and it helps when it comes to the students well being.

The class does creative projects, and my daughter has made strong academic progress. Overall, the school offers a warm and nurturing environment where all children are encouraged and valued.

It really is one of the worst schools my kids have gone to in a long time. The principal is completely disconnected from the students. I went with an organization to help in the garden, nor the parents or principal came to help with their school compared to every other school. The principal and patterns always came out to help. The principal, also brings her new born to school wth her which i think is not really right. The school does a very terrible job exciting the kids about reading or learning in general.

Crumpton tiene un tama o ideal y est claro que el director y los profesores se esfuerzan porque todo funcione bien y los ni os est n bien atendidos. Todo est limpio, ordenado y hay un deseo de mejora constante.

I attended the Holiday Concert this evening to see the children sing. I did not see the children due to numerous parents standing in the front and middle aisle. I am disgusted with the behavior of a number of parents at JCCrumpton. Between standing in front of others, talking during the concert and walking around it was a terrible situation. The children sat on the floor in the middle of a group of parents struggling to find a seat. Someone stepped on my granddaughter s hand and she was crying when I could get to her. This is a repeat of the spring concert last year, when the parents trampled some of the kindergarteners to get pictures of their own. The principal and staff did nothing to control the crowd.
