My son went through this school. It is was a tough time, but that's how middle school is. We had the most painful experiences, yet after reading these reviews, I can see why. It looks like they were trying to change things up.
The truth is everything that I complained about they have been fixed. The two staff members that were questionable are gone. They have a vice principal that works at the elementary school to get to know the kids before the parents are less involved.
I think the Principal really cares and this place has some of the best teachers. My son used to after school homework help and that took my B student to all A's! Physical Education every day is great for our kids' health. The music program is full of passion. Additionally, Bayside is nearby, and the middle/high school leaders help out a lot, which is great for the kids. Even though, its not our home church, they were a great source for my growing child.
My daughter looks forward to going here and all the new opportunities it presents. After she graduates, I hope to come back here and edit this review to 5 stars.
My mistakes and learning tips. First, I did not want my child labeled, which was fine all until you can't be there. So, please if you have a child with any kind of needs, get the help before this point. Also know that we as parents sometimes make it all worse. Middle school is the real world and it's not always full of rainbows. Lastly, most importantly, 90 percent of people who get into this field, do it for the passion of caring and growing young people.

Olympus is an exceptional middle school for 7th and 8th graders. Our daughter has been involved in a few sports at Olympus. She is very happy here and loves her supportive teachers. There are so many clubs and sports to explore and develop her interest. The PTC is very engaged and active with great leadership. Many teachers have been at the Olympus for decades, which speaks volumes about the environment. The leaders and teachers at the school are outstanding: friendly energy, lots of communication, and very organized. Principal Amber Sutton personally sends out a weekly email to highlight the week in advance. The campus feels very secure: it' is enclosed around a central courtyard and gates around the front entrance and surrounding campus. When we were researching the school, we discovered that US News and World Reports ranks Olympus as one of the top Middle Schools in California. If you child comes here, you will quickly understand why.

Exceptional educators and leaders at Olympus. Every adult on campus truly cares about the students and offers support both academically and emotionally. Our family has participated in both sports and music programs and have been impressed all around. We are so lucky to have Olympus in our district.

Great school! Olympus teachers are wonderful, caring, and knowledgeable! We love their music program and the opportunities students have to be challenged. We also greatly appreciate their no cell phone policy to help get our kids off of screens and engaging positively with each other.

I dont think I have the words to describe the experience that both my daughter and our family have had with the music program at Olympus Jr. High School. Starting with the teacher, the students, the school administration, and the parents everyone puts their soul, heart, and life into every step and opportunity for learning and support.

Olympus has helped our son grow academically, with lots of parental involvement and support. They are required to hold a standard of kindness, respect and overall good behavior. I love this school!

bad bad bad school. principal is sexist and only likes the boys. one time in class a teacher said the N word and shes white. they dont care about anything other than your grades. teachers dont give students a chance and judge them on more their looks or how they dress. principal one time kicked me out of the lunch line when i was at the front and made me wait until all of the boys had gotten their lunch then the bell rang and she said i couldnt get anything to eat. students arent bad its the school. although there is some nice teachers and pe is fun for the most part. last i got kicked out of olympus for something that wasnt even my fault and just took the other kids side of the story because he was a BOY not to mention he put his hands on me first and after i got kicked out he didnt get punished. horrible principal.

Im deeply disappointed with Olympus and the way it treats its studentsespecially those who genuinely want to succeed but face obstacles beyond their control. Too many teachers here fail to support students who are trying to break free from peer pressure and actually do well on their projects and tests. Instead of listening to them, guiding them, or encouraging them, they dismiss their struggles and make no real effort to help.

Whats even worse is the way they target POC students, labeling them as troublemakers or assuming theyre not capable. Rather than providing them with the support they need, the school groups so-called bad kids together, essentially giving up on them instead of integrating them with peers who could help them grow. Instead of fostering an environment of learning and improvement, they reinforce negative cycles and set these kids up for failure.

Every child deserves a fair chance to succeed, but Olympus continues to let so many students down. Its heartbreaking to see young minds eager to learn, only to be ignored, dismissed, or set up to fail. This school needs to do betterfor all of its students.

This school has teachers that don't give the same amount of homework so other students can get better grades on their stuff and others don't because of the unfairness this school has. Not also saying some teachers give out the word banks while my daughters teacher does not, EVER! ALSO that the teachers don't put in the right grades so my daughter almost all the time has to remind them that she got a better score on something then they put! I DO NOT RECOMEND!

I went here for the 2023-2024 school year. I had a horrible experience here. I was always racially profiled because of the color of my skin, on my first day at Olympus I was asked if I had a vape in my bag. The teacher I had asked me to come over and I was searched without any evidence, I was always called a gang-banger and multiple other racial slurs. You are not excepted at this school if you are not Caucasian, wealthy, and religious. You are not excepted for your beliefs. The vice principal is very rude and I had an incident with a teacher and all he cared about was what I was wearing in the camera footage. The staff, students, and just every single person there never made me feel welcome. I was constantly bullied and not just verbally, sometimes it would be physically. I was also constantly sexualized by multiple boys and it made me very uncomfortable. Unless you fit the standards of the population at this school do not go here. I don't recommend it.

We chose to move into this attendance area after extensive research. Middle school is a challenging time, but Olympus has provided an excellent experience for my child thus far. Right now schools are out because of the pandemic, but I am incredibly thankful for the district and schools prepared response with an organized distance learning plan that has helped my children continue their learning with as much of a sense of normalcy as possible!

My experience was in overall a positive one, but man this one teacher makes me want to scream my head off. Looking back, he scared me to the point of crying, but as a high schooler now, I would have stood my ground and fought for my problem. All in all... add clocks to the outside of classes and buildings... not just the inside.

Everything that is due for any class is acessabile through online power school. The Negitive is they take their time to grade assignments.

They are direct here is what needs to be done complet it. The only negative is the quick response to grading things so if you have a student trying. They take their time posting grades so it's hard to tell where the student is in between grades.

Strong sports, class ethics leadership. My son has been in the hot seat before and the VP made it clear that if you continue with this behavior your opportunity will reflect. The teachers care the VP the Principle care. Not the front office staff by givin the parents wrong info times . I've came in several times and been greated with a big sigh oh what.

They have a course on study skills leadership which teaches the student how to behave moving on. As far as the school the Vice principle displays strong leadership not so much the front office constantly lazy sitting on their butt wrong information harsh judgmental they need to retire put someone in that cares.

It's a great staff and teachers do care they want the best for the children. Not so much the front office they are lazy not helpful any information they sigh with can't you find it. Really need to retire you can tell they are bitter and old waiting for retirement .

This school has some good teachers. I have had to pull my daughter from there because she was bullied by the boys. She is smart and creative. One of the boys spread terrible rumors about her, having sex with him, and she is only 12.My daughter cried every single night. It became so much on her, she developed panic attacks. The administration tries to run your life. They called the cops and cps when she was home with pneumonia. The Principal is not qualified to run a school. There are fights, violence, and bullying. He did not advocate for my daughter at all. I was fortunate enough to go to private schools. Avoid our mistake. Avoid this school. They are intrusive,petty, and unprofessional. The Principal needs to go back to school and learn how to appropriately handle situations that can be devastating, especially at this time in a child's life. I will be filing a complaint with the Superintendents office.So glad to move on. I have spoken to students that graduated from there. Same things happened to them. The school wants uninvolved and compliant parents. If for any reason you need accommodations, they are not your school. No leadership is failed leadership.

I have been waiting a while to write this review, because I wanted to make sure I write a completely unbiased, honest one. Yes, overall, Olympus is a fantastic school. The principal and vice principal go above and beyond and are truly wonderful assets. Mostly all of the teachers are completely dedicated, caring, and do their jobs well. That being said, there are two issues at this school that continue to stick out to me. The homework load is...huge. My child's math and science classes are fine, but the core class has been absolutely over the top. I understand these students need to be prepared for high school, and boy will they be after going through Olympus, but I do believe at some point it starts taking away from the learning environment and causes burnout. The second is the bullying. There is plenty of it at this school, particularly in the PE program and during break and lunch. Yes, the administrators will step in if they notice it. Yes, they take it seriously. But then it just happens again, and again. I realize this is junior high, but if the same kid(s) keep bullying/picking on others over and over, obviously how they are being dealt with is not effective.

I love Olympus Jr. High! It's best one of our best school experiences in the district - great leadership & young/enthusiastic teachers! My one (and very BIG) complaint is the rude/unhelpful front office staff. There are 2 middle age women who do not smile, do not offer to help and have actually refused to assist me when I needed help (finding a teacher after school, leaving a message for my student, etc) They are the only downside to this school, but it's a big downside! I hope the great principals there are able to make some changes in the coming years. I do NOT look forward to dealing with these "ladies" as the rest of my children go through the school :(

With all these reviews I wish and would love for my kids to attend OJHS. I would consume that the Granite Bay Schools are better quality and rated efficiently to the highest compared to the Dry Creek District in Roseville. I will be soon be considering this option to my surroundings and pray about this from the presumers above.

Our 7th grader is loving her experience. I really appreciate the leadership and they really set the tone for excellence. Our kid struggles with the huge amount of homework but has a renewed effort in the 2nd trimester. The music department is top notch.
