The Best Decision We've Made!
After years of navigating the overcrowded, rigid, and impersonal school systems in the Bay Area, moving to this area in 2018 and enrolling our children at Placer Elementary has been amazing. We didn't just find a new school; we found a community, and we have absolutely fallen in love with it.

The difference is the people. The teachers and staff at Placer are incredibly caring and invested in the students. It's the kind of place where teachers my kids have never even had in their classrooms greet us by name in the hallways. This small TK-8 grade community has allowed our children to feel seen, supported, and truly part of a school family.

Most importantly, the support for individual student needs is exceptional. My child has an IEP, and for the first time, it feels genuinely personalized and truly helpful. The team at Placer took the time to understand my child's specific needs and created a plan that has led to real, tangible progress.

We have three children attending, in three different grades, and every single one of them is happy and thriving. They are not only succeeding academically but are also growing in confidence. I'll admit, I've seen some negative reviews and they leave me feeling confused and sad, because our experience has been the complete opposite. I truly believe that any family who gets involved, whether it's through the PTC, volunteering in the classroom, or attending school events, will quickly see the incredible amount of love and dedication that defines this school.

For any family looking for a school with a huge heart, amazing community support, and teachers who genuinely care, we cannot recommend Placer Elementary highly enough. It has been a wonderful and transformative experience for our entire family.

Former principal from 2019 - 2024 was a joke. She had favorite parents and teachers and would disregard the rest. Constantly used the expression “just being transparent”, but she wasn’t transparent, she was straight out rude and tone deaf, fake smile and all. The type of person who would smile at you, while slashing your tires.

Absolutely terrible school. Put my daughter through hell. She came home crying almost every day begging me not to go to school the next day. She was getting constant death threats and threats for her safety. The principal was absolutely horrible and disrespectful, she didn’t even acknowledge the threats when my daughter reported them. She brushed them off and labeled it as “Teenage Drama.” The students are unfunny, rude, narcissistic, nasty, arrogant people and I feel horrible for their parents. I hope this school gets better. Until then you are undeniably the worst school i’ve ever put my daughter in.

Placer has an amazing culture that's fostered from the principal down! This is our second year and all three of our children love going. They are challenged academically, the after-school sports programs are fun, and there are a variety of extracurricular activities to partake in! The PTC does an incredible job with offering a variety of fundraising and community building events. And, you can't beat their after-school daycare if/when you need it - it's beyond reasonably priced. We love Placer!

They have ways of making sure the student are respectful and reward them for good behavior!

Yes there are rarely any cases with bullying and if their is the teachers are quick to resolve them!

We have been so impressed with the kindergarten teachers at Placer. Mrs. Ross goes above and beyond and her class clearly adores her. Additionally, we were so impressed by the week-long kindergarten camp offered during the summer (at no charge) to acclimate students to the school and to facilitate friendships so the classes can hit the ground running on the first day of school. Time will tell if our experience at Placer will continue to exceed our expectations, but nothing so far gives any concern that it won’t.

I like the school itself however the morning and afternoon pickup is awful. I understand they have limited space but both the woman and man who help direct traffic are just plain rude. I am new to picking up and dropping off and they are very miserable people. They roll their eyes, throw up their hands and make you feel plain stupid in the cluster of chaos that is the drop off and pick up. I don't care if they are volunteers, they volunteer to help and should not be treating parents or any humans for that matter the way they do. It's gross.

I agree with previous poster from 12/14. We didn't realize how bad the special needs/resources department was until we left and went elsewhere unfortunately to get my daughters needs met. New principal was added this year after previous one was finally thankfully FIRED. He is trying to clean up the mess left behind but it will take some time and the resource department has to be cleaned up by the special education asst superintendent who even told me that this will take many years and funding ( meaning she is aware of how weak it is). Only selective teachers put forth extra time in the students so as your student ages "extra help" is in short supply. Still many things to fix in the school but hopefully new leader will make this happen just do not expect any miracles in the special education side of it for at least 5 years. They have several phenomenal teachers but many of the staff there is lazy, teach in the old school boring ways, and do not know how to handle any students with learning difficulties-they really need to retire as their hearts are not in their job and it shows. Some drastically need sensitivity training. Previous principal protected these teachers therefore of course they loved her!

I have two children that attend this school and I could not be happier with the results. My older child was saved by the teachers and the students. He was quiet and shy and was being left out and behind at his other school. He is outgoing and a high achiever now, and loves his school. My younger son is IEP and again I can not say enough about the attention and concern he receives at Placer. Over the past years I have seen nothing but improvement.

This school has been a life saver for us. Teachers are available before and after school to provide extra help for those who need it. Some even give up their lunch breaks to tutor. This has been the case in primary and middle school. The school staff encourages students to work hard and expects good behavior. Friends who have children with special needs say that their children have been given everything they need to do well. The kids are so polite and the staff makes you feel like family. The principal knows every student and has brought great new programs to the school. The Parent Teacher Club adores her and stands by her leadership. We highly recommend this school.

The parents who posted good reviews on this site must have only independent/strong learners that need no school support. This works for only some students. I am a parent of 2 Placer students one of whom we had to move out due to the lack of resources in the special ed department, a old school principal who is not open to any change, and a teacher who can not understand how to deal with a 504. This school will drag their feet if you need your child tested for an IEP in hopes you will get so frustrated that you take your child elsewhere. I have spoken to literally a dozen or more good solid Loomis families that have left because of this same reason in the last 2 years. Ask around and you will confirm this. There is a handful of good teachers and many phenomenal Loomis families but that is all they have to offer. The principal has been reported to the superintendent so many times yet keeps her job. She protects the worst teachers at the school and evens gets them teaching awards! Sad -as this school has so much potential but until change from the top down happens it is just average to a strong student.

Our family experienced Placer Elementary for the first time this past school year, and we loved it! We felt safe, loved, and educated. The teachers, administration, and office staff are wonderful. We are looking forward to the fall!

We specifically moved to the Loomis School District 7 years ago so my children would enter Placer for Kindergarten. My twins are currently entering 6th grade and my youngest 3rd. Each year, each teacher and grade has been a wonderful experience. I moved my children from a private school to this public school and couldn't be more pleased with their academic performance. The K-8 environment is very community oriented. The older grades are encouraged to mentor or "buddy" with the younger grades. With all the budget cut backs, no one would know with the way Placer has adapted. We have a fabulous music program, a strong PE curriculum and drama department. The opportunity for parental involvement from assisting in the classroom to an enthusiastic PTC, really makes Placer a FAMILY school. Every teacher and staff member is committed and caring. You feel that from your first visit to the school office and meeting Mrs. Bergstrom to working with our principal, Mrs. Cowles.

Our child started at Placer in the 2006/2007 school year, she is now going into the fifth grade. She is the second child that we have had in Placer. Sometimes she has attention problems, however the teachers have all been understanding and have been outstanding with her. The principal and and school staff are wonderful with all the students that attend here. This is the one of the best schools in our district. We are very lucky to have such caring teachers and parents in this area.

When our first child attended Placer school some years back the teachers and staff were great but the principal was a prevaricating jerk. Our second Placer student is in 5th grade and we fortunately now have one of the finest principals, greatest teachers and support personnel in the entire state. Parental involvement at Placer is phenominal which reflects the dedication and quality of the leadership and staff.
