No communication whatsoever from the teachers all year long. My son ended up getting no marks (equivalent of F's) in 3 classes in the Fall semester and 3 classes in the Spring semester and there was no communication from the teachers or counselor about how we can help him succeed. Then they passed him with that bad of grades. No check-in's with him, I tried my best from home to get him to turn in work and get his grades up, but I can only do so much (short of sitting in class with him every day). Plus periods were not used to help him with his work as they were promised to be. Of his 6 classes, only 1 of them had a requirement that students sit in their seats and participate, every other class was a free-for-all with kids playing paper basketball, etc. But hey, as long as their work was done, they could do whatever they wanted in class; never mind the students trying to focus. Trying to get answers from the office regarding simple things (like where to go to view a report card) were completely ignored and I had to figure it out on my own. 4 of his 6 teachers were more focused on pushing their ideologies on the students rather than actually teaching them. Mr. Keisling, if more teachers there were like you, he would have stayed for 8th grade. He loved you. Our son is not going back - on his own choosing, no less. Oh, and not to mention the stabbing that happened within the first three weeks of the school year starting, because a student brought a knife to school and attacked a girl trying to report him for having a knife. STAY AWAY from this middle school if you want your kids to succeed.

We moved to this school from a local charter school (we were there K-6) and since then have seen our child excel both academically and socially. The kids here are mostly friendly, supportive and down to earth (of course I'm sure there are exceptions, but this is per the many kids my child has interacted with). The teachers are excited about what they teach, very supportive of their students in class and out (through email), building each child's confidence. This is especially highlighted by the core teachers working together (another parent already wrote about it perfectly in their review). My child is now excited to go to school, loves everything taught, and confidently does all challenge work instead of assuming it's impossible before even trying. I wish we could stay at this school for more than two years!

It should be noted that although some have complained about the principal, the principal and assistant principal are both new as of the 2022-23 school year. Although we felt the principal for the 2021-22 school year was phenomenal (and a big part of why we chose that school) I don't think he was there long either. The complaints here are likely from 2 principals ago.

I am so very surprised at all these negative reviews here! The teachers and staff are absolutely amazing. This school has got it together. Students are assigned to a “pod” of teachers, so the same set of students are assigned to a particular set of teachers and rotate classes throughout the day which works out great because the teachers communicate with each other and know where and what your student is possibly struggling with, and they work as a team to help them excel. Our student is receiving a top notch education from top notch teachers. They are very all very caring and supportive to our students needs.
I guess only unhappy people must post, so since the reviews appear so negative, I’d like to give a kudos to this wonderful school for a job well done!

This school does absolutely nothing to protect BIPOC students, LGBTQ+ students, or students with disabilities. There is constant harassment towards the minorities at this school and the teachers will often side with the oppressors. Speaking from experience, I know that the teachers will not help. The teachers talk about many triggering topics without warning and have given me and multiple other students anxiety and PTSD induced panic attacks. The teachers will not help your child if they fall behind, instead they will embarrass your child in front of their peers and other staff members. They only see your child as their paycheck, not as a person. This is a terrible school and I would not recommend it.

We were extremely disappointed in how dishonest the principal was on numerous occasions. The culture is one of disrespect and CYA. Our kids had a very bad experience at this school ,we moved as a result!

Our priority is to have our son in a safe, structured school. We have not been able to enjoy that at Spring View.

Posted: January 16, 2020

Assignments don't always match instruction. Too much of grade is based on homework,

Posted: January 16, 2020

Much of the staff work hard to encourage and inspire. However some work against and have a very adverse impact. Would like to see toxic staff members weeded out so the efforts of good ones can prevail.

Posted: January 16, 2020

We have been treated unfairly on numerous occasions by the campus Principal. It would be nice to be able to have an unbiased individual involved in oversite and relevant decisions.

We were chastised for bringing forth concerns. Would appreciate a fair forum to have issues resolved.

As a teacher myself, I have been very disappointed in my son's overall experience this year. Drugs and alcohol are a serious issue, yet never addressed with the parents only covered up by the administration. I fear they are losing kids in such a crucial time in their life. The discipline is punitive for things like wearing a hat or chewing gum, yet I am hearing awful stories about drugs, bullying, and alcohol. My son did not feel seen or heard this year by any of his teachers. How about asking the kids what they need to be successful instead of a one size fits all approach to learning. Lecturing and taking notes doesn't work for every student to be successful. I believe Springview needs Restorative Justice! t

Posted: October 11, 2018

We really liked our son's math and science teacher, however had significant issues with his Language Arts instructor. Worst part is he was humiliated by several teachers in front of other students for requiring accommodations for his processing disorder.

Posted: October 11, 2018

Such a struggle getting leadership to be fair and open minded to our sons needs.

Posted: September 22, 2018

It would be awesome to have more positive gatherings on campus

Posted: September 22, 2018

Not the least bit impressed with the Vice Principal

Posted: September 22, 2018

The very impaired are treated well, but those with impulsiveness related to disabilities are often retaliated against

Posted: September 22, 2018

Leadership at this site seems to function as a catalyst for bullying

Posted: September 22, 2018

It would be nice to see more support with individual assignments and more incentives and rewards for completions. It seems most the teachers make good effort here.

Posted: September 22, 2018

Happy with most the teachers, could benefit from more consistency and continuity in hiring.

Posted: September 22, 2018

Beautiful campus that is not always well maintained.Would like better over site and more positive reinforcements for students as well as staff.

Posted: September 17, 2018

Like the help in study skills, would love to see more at school supports.

Posted: September 17, 2018

Happy with many of the teachers here

Posted: September 17, 2018

Administration could benefit from further focus on positive interventions

Posted: September 17, 2018

Would like to see a great deal more kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Posted: September 17, 2018

Love this school and most the staff.Would love to see more effective leadership.

Posted: September 12, 2018

Adore this neighborhood, but no amount of curbside appeal is worth the chaos, corruption and cover up that goes on at Spring View under current leadership.

Posted: September 12, 2018

We would like to see the Principal and Vice Principal set a much better example.

Posted: September 12, 2018

Love this bunch and their creativity.90% of the teachers at this school are great.

Posted: September 12, 2018

The teachers contribute consistently, however the administration seems to be operating in a vacuum.

Posted: September 12, 2018

We have grown close to many staff members and love the area. However Spring View Middle School needs leadership that can be trusted and relied upon.

Posted: September 10, 2018

Many wonderful teachers.A few who could use more patience and tools dealing with impulsive youth.Would also like to see the teachers offer students more dignity and kind guidance.

Posted: September 10, 2018

So many wonderful families, great teacher and awesome students.Yet so much chaos, largely due to inadequate leadership in our opinion. We moved to Rocklin for the schools and now we are moving out of Rocklin because of them, this one in particular. Our daughter has developed depression due to the trauma she has suffered being bullied here.

Posted: September 10, 2018

We are not the least bit impressed with how the administration handles discipline or injuries on this campus.Nor how they prioritize their time.Have caught them sharing information which is not true numerous times, causing harm to students on campus as a result.Would like to see stronger standards in coping with crisis for Principal and Vice Principal.

Posted: September 10, 2018

Our daughters IEP was not followed.Nor were the meetings managed right.

Posted: September 10, 2018

The only thing worse than a school that allows and even promotes bullying,is one where the staff charged with running the school are the predictors.

Posted: September 10, 2018

We have really enjoyed the counseling crew and receptionists have been real nice.Have had several very good teachers, but an awful time dealing with the schools administrators. The campus is often messy and bathrooms frequently smell of illegal activities.

Posted: September 8, 2018

some very fun staff at this site

Posted: September 8, 2018

Allot of the staff make a significant effort. We do worry about how all the demonstrations are impacting our boys there. They are very embarrassed of their school due to this.

Posted: September 8, 2018

Please do not take the word of administrators when your child is involved in any situation requiring an "investigation".Far too much cover up and dishonesty.Follow up and talk to everyone involved.Students (as well as staff)have been harmed seriously at this school with administrators not telling the truth about circumstances.Protect your children and be sure to get to the bottom of things.

Posted: September 8, 2018

Allot of character assassination and emotional abuse coming from the administrators.Again, protect your child.

Posted: September 8, 2018

Spring View is a beautiful school in an awesome neighborhood. It has many wonderful teachers.Needs administrators who can be trusted with kids.

Posted: September 7, 2018

We like the personal follow up in class. Not wild about so much of the tracking being on line, but we are making it work. Our daughters teachers seem helpful in this area.

Posted: September 7, 2018

Not sure on this. But will offer benefit of the doubt.

Posted: September 7, 2018

they have some work to do in allowing kids with IEP's to retain their dignity.

Posted: September 7, 2018

The administrators are bullies ad this carries over onto campus.

Posted: September 7, 2018

Most of the teachers do a good job

Posted: September 7, 2018

The school has many safety issues that lead to acting out and accidents.

Posted: September 7, 2018

We could not be more disappointed. This school has great potential, however is not currently a safe place for students.Needs new leadership.

Posted: September 6, 2018

Allot of tension at this school. We are trying to transfer to another district.

Posted: September 5, 2018

Can we stop the demonstrations on campus by staff and get a Vice Principal who is fair and worthy of trust?

Posted: September 5, 2018

Very disappointed in the leadership and lack of support for students with behavioral struggle.Figure out the dispute with teachers and focus on our students please!!

Posted: August 31, 2018

Weakest link on this campus for certain!

Posted: August 31, 2018

Not certain on this one as it does not apply to our experience

Posted: August 31, 2018

Certain parties at this school not only do not prevent bullying, they promote it.

Posted: August 31, 2018

I am disappointed they do not furnish more support with assignments

Posted: August 31, 2018

We have a few good teachers, but most are preoccupied with salary negotiations and demonstrations. Neither of our boys got the classes they requested.

Posted: August 31, 2018

Very hostile environment at times, our boys are not happy at the school

Posted: August 31, 2018

We would like to see more understanding and support for students.A great deal more positivity and encouragement, along with integrity. That being said, there are some nice teachers and we like most the office staff.

Posted: August 28, 2018

The kids need either less home work or more help understanding it.

Posted: May 24, 2018

Parents often feel attacked and suffer retaliation after they air concerns

Posted: May 24, 2018

Students ho struggle are often provoked, especially if their parents advocate for positive change.

Posted: May 24, 2018

Posted: May 24, 2018

Do not offer enough detail and help

Posted: May 24, 2018

There are some good ones but they need to replace the bad ones

Posted: May 24, 2018

Not nearly enough encouragement for the kids

Posted: May 24, 2018

I would encourage the district to make clear parents are to partner with not to attack.Teachers at this site are allowed to retaliate by being unfair to students and not meeting their needs when parents request improvements.

Posted: May 18, 2018

Would like to see teacher do a better job supporting the assignments

Posted: May 18, 2018

The teachers are poorly supervised so some do very poor job. They are allowed to bully students and parents.Ms. Hartley who runs the track program is very unfair and puts students down, especially those with special needs.

Posted: May 18, 2018

The administrators are hostile and provoke issues with students rather than resolving them. The students self esteem is frequently damaged while attending SVM.

Posted: May 18, 2018

Administration is manipulative, deceptive, unfair and without the skills required to manage this age group.Scott Collins the Vice Principal contributes to a culture of chaos.

Posted: May 18, 2018

Staff ignore IEP requirements far too frequently, and have no clue how to redirect or help youth with behavioral issues.

Posted: May 18, 2018

The administrator bully students and parents which contributes to similar conduct from the student body.

Posted: May 18, 2018

Far worse than I ever could have imagined.Such a beautiful site with so many resources and so much potential. But poorly managed!

Posted: January 26, 2017

Posted: January 26, 2017

Both of my kids love the teachers and my oldest son who is in high school is still very much in contact with his Springview teachers and still feels loved and supported by them.

Posted: January 26, 2017

The students and teachers are caring and compassionate and have been wonderful to the community and to the families, like mone that have had hard times.

This middle school has restored my faith in the middle school experience. The staff is loving and kind and knowledgable. If theres a problem they drop everything to meet and solve it. My family has been blessed by staff and individuals associated with Springview. My kids are doing fantastic and I really feel it has alot to do with the love and support and continued relationships with the staff at SVMS.

Posted: July 11, 2016

Posted: July 11, 2016

Good school, but not all the teachers are great. If teacher have negative relationship with the student, not much to be done here

Posted: November 18, 2014

The language arts teacher degrades students in front of each other and shows no respect for parents. They say they are an anti-bullying school, yet she thinks its ok to talk down to a 7th grader in front of everyone.

Posted: September 25, 2013

My family is new at SVMC but I have had a great experience my daughter has been encouraged by the wonderful teachers to participate in the governments at Spring view and is very happy. She is currently in the 7th grade and doing morning announcements, so proud and she wants to run for the president next year.

Posted: September 9, 2013

My son has been is n the 7th grade and been goin for a month. I find that emailing the teacher is fast and easy and they respond quickly. Sometimes the homework is confuseing but the teachers help clear it up. So far good school.
