Silva Valley is the crown jewel of elementary schools in Buckeye USD. The teachers and staff are amazing - the best of the best - and you can tell they genuinely care about our children and their educational experience. They are committed to ensuring Silva Valley is a safe, welcoming, and compassionate environment, and that truly shines through in their actions. Our student has flourished there and absolutely adores going to school everyday. We are so grateful to be a part of the Silva Valley family and highly recommend the school!

For the most part, this is a fantastic school. My kids are doing well academically. However, there are mom cliques. The moms drive their kid’s relationships and try to keep groups together to where others are shunned. It is kind of disturbing.

Homework has depended on grade level and teacher. Third grade was a terrible year for homework. Homework did not reflect concepts taught in class. Some of it was not part of the curriculum, and there was too much.

Let’s face it - teachers do a good job, but there are a lot of parent volunteers. Plus, the clientele is privileged. The district needs to omit, from its mission statement, it’s claim that it has “highly-qualified staff.” When you hire a new teacher, he/she is not highly qualified. He/she is on a Preliminary Credential and has not completed all education coursework and exams. Stop claiming you hire the best when you instead hire teachers that meet your budget. There are many fully credentialed, highly qualified and experienced teachers you could hire. Some teachers at this school have been teaching too long and seemed unequipped and burned out. Get some new blood in the classrooms, with some experience.

The school needs to implement learning strategies that teach the concepts in a meaningful manner.

The administration should have a parent volunteer conduct packet that parents have to sign. It is rare, but sometimes there are parent volunteers who are not nice to kids or other parents, and there should be a protocol. The administration needs to stop putting bandaids on conflict and address the core problems.

There are mean kids at this school who continually harass. The staff gets desensitized over time and avoids dealing with the situations. It is shocking how much mean kids get away with.

The kids work really hard during school hours and almost every child I know has after school activities. It is a lot to ask of the kids to require an additional 1-2 hours of homework each week.

My daughter is entering 2nd grade this year. We have been blessed with teachers Mrs. Faulkner and Mrs. Boeker as co-teachers for both kindergarten and first grade. They are wonderful! The school has daily P.E. including both Zumba class and Sammy Circuit which I really appreciate as p.e. has been cut in so many schools. Our experiences with the principal, Mrs. Holliman, have been very positive. She is very competent, personable, and accessible. The PTA is large and raises a ton of money for things like electronics, P.E., and great events like the Harvest Festival. There are many parents that regularly volunteer in the classroom so there are always many hands on deck. We love this school! Moving to El Dorado Hills and enrolling here is one of the best decisions we have made as a family.

This is a fantastic school. We have been transferred 5 times and gone to many schools. Teachers are fantastic, concerns are addressed. Everyone works together to make sure the kids can be successful. Parent involvement is great. I am beyond pleased. I am a former teacher and parent to 3 kids. Pleasing me isn't always easy. This school has done it. I have faith in the California school system again...whew.

Watch out...you think you'll be getting a top-notch education and professional staff because of the ratings and area the school is located in, but you're not. The calm and helpful demeanor is a facade. Administration has the reputation of "How can I NOT help you?" The teaching staff is just mediocre. There will be people who have a good experience here and there, but not the masses. We're all wondering: "Where are the exceptional teachers we were expecting?" They should be drawn to this school, but something (or someone) is holding them back. The most efficient and positive person who NEVER had a "bad moment" was the front office manager. She left a couple of years ago. The only time you will know what kind of mood or effort you're going to get from anyone else who works here is the exact moment you're there to volunteer. Outside of that time, they quickly forget how to show respect to the kids and parents unless it's the second they're being given something.

This is a good school with a good principal and teachers. I can highly recommend Mrs. Locher, Beringer and Rozman. Each of them is extremely patient, helpful and cares greatly about their students.

Silva Valley is such a wonderful school. I had a amazing time at that school. All the teacher a very friendly. I have been there sience I was in Kindergarten-5th grade now I am high school. When I left I was very sad to leave that school

If you have a smart kid, this school is not for you. I feel we are wasting my daughter's time not learning much. I have to give her extra work at home because the school never challenge her at all. We have to meet with all the people in charge but they didn't do any single thing. How sad that school gives a lot of help to struggling kids but not to advance kids. If I have money to put my kids to good private school I would have done it.

Our daughters arrived to this school in grades K & 1 . They didn't speak or read any English and understood verbally very little, having been born and raised overseas. They are now in the 2nd & 3rd grades, and are doing very well, thanks in large part to the quality and care of the eduction they have received. There's a lot of homework handed out typically, and parents need to stay on top of it pending the tendencies of each child (my two are quite different.) The principal was wonderfully responsive to our concern that our older daughter was misplaced in her 2nd year. She was initially misplaced in a mixed 2d/3d grade class her 2nd year because she's bright and a very good, disciplined student. But hearing instructions aimed separately to the two class levels was too much for her after only one year of steady English. The principal investigated herself, and agreed with our position and moved our daughter to a more appropriate class of all 2nd graders. Just one example of how well this school is run.

I am a student here at Silva Valley and it wasn't an ordinary school. Every year at my new class i think to myself, I am not going to leave this school until I am done with this grade. During the summer before my 5th grade year I moved without telling anyone. I came back to that school in about 3 months and I walked outside. All the 5th graders were screaming my name. I haven't noticed how popular I have been since kindergarten! I moved back and every night I cry to my parents, when are we going back! This school deserves a good, no amazing rate from everyone!
