This school is a joke! The whole staff doesnt care the teachers the principals no one cares for these children . They have fights almost every day they smoke in the bathrooms and sell at school . You dont have to worry about your child being bullied by kids at school but the staff as well the NTA are inappropriate with the kids the vice principal seems to make excuses for everything . This is why kids Fail and want to drop out and give up because they have no help or anyone to support them at school its only about money .

This is school is bias the vice principal Martin's and principal Karr need to be trained on handling culture differences, stop judging students based off what other students say, this school will suspend children for the smallest thing because they don't Care about students success or education most school employees at awahnee are employed just for the pay, go ask a teacher why they chose to be a teacher and see what their answer is it's definitely not because they love to see a student succeed.

As a person who has volunteered as a environmental educator I am extremely concerned about this school. There have been multiple instances I would like to point out to other parents before choosing this school for your children. First off, is the violence. There is a fight at Ahawahnee almost every day or every other day and it is easy to see why. My student and her friends were having trouble with a girl who was constantly harassing them in the locker room (physically, and verbally). These girls made several written statements of this to the administration of this girls behavior. The office didn't do much until finally when my daughter said at least three or four statements had been over look and I called in to complain. They finally took action and the harassment stopped. I was simple trying to warn the office about a fight and it took ALL DAY to get action. Secondly, the have a christian you of adults and children who tell non-religious children that they will go to hell if they do not believe in God. Wildly inappropriate!. Notable, the administration did seem to actually care about this. I guess a law suit is more pressing to them then the physical safety of their female students. Third, is their academics. Test scores are extremely low and it seems to me - while taking notes for a year and conversing with local substitute teachers that have worked at the school) that teachers and administrators just do not care. Ive been told they really just do not care and i have to agree. I almost never get a call back from the teachers that I was reaching out too. (Im actually still waiting for a call now). The school seems to care more about if you child wears cameo rather than what their academics are. The principal walks around at lunch with a bullhorn yelling at children as they eat lunch. Our old principal would give high fives to children and make it a point to talk to kids as they walked by. This school would benefit from better leadership and a staff that looks at these children as our future. Again, never in my 13 years of dealing with school systems or my 2 years teaching middle school students environmental education, have I ever seen this much violence and complete lack of leadership by teachers and staff members. It would behoove parents to look at Baird Middle School (not sure if its spelled right). I would stay away at this school at all costs.

I do not believe that the staff in the special ed department have the necessary training to teach children with special needs. The teacher had little or no knowledge of the subjects being taught. There was very little structure in the classroom and administration did appear to care that the children were not learning. Unfortunate!

My child did not have any homework being assigned to him until I requested it from the teacher. The teacher did not feel it was necessary. Seriously!!

My child was bullied during PE class. The Admin did nothing until I pressed the issued and threatened to contact the police.

this School.
was honest to me because whenever someone had a problem or anything they try to reach out and show their best at carrying. even speaking to them they were more out thereHelping then listeners instead of listening to problems they did something they didn't option they moved they tried to prove that something can be done and it wasn't just helping little bit they help a lot with with the disabilities and kids with being bullied and they really are pros and try to make this place a better place than society would ever imaginewhy

Plenty of violence occuring in this school with little being done to address it. Dress code loosely enforced. Very disorganized office staff. All of these lend themselves to a school culture I would prefer my child not to be part of.
