Overall a wonderful experience. Its a small school but a gem for young students to get ahead and build a strong foundation for their adult lives.

Amazing in my personal experience. Staff is friendly and students learn a lot.

This is the oldest private school in Visalia and continues to have the leadership of Good Shepherd Catholic Oarish and the School community. The Princpial, Mrs. Rast, is very attentive and dedicated to the school community.

Anti bullying campaigns are launched annually and all volunteers and staff take required training. I feel being at a Catholic school there is much more awareness and in the event questionable behavior takes place it is addressed very promptly.

Sending our children to George McCann was a decision we made as parents - to invest not only in their academia but also their moral compass. A Catholic education has a reputation for being rigorous and developing each child to their God given talents. I have not been disappointed. I am aware there are other choices in the area however none will prepare my children as fully as George McCann has academically and soulfully. My children love the school community. Its size makes them feel safe, has helped them to foster leadership and participate in many activities and sports they might otherwise have not been exposed to. My children will be well prepared, if not o we prepared for what awaits them their freshman year of high school. The experiences they have while at George McCann are life enhancing.

Homework assignments reinforce classroom instruction and challenge critical thinking and problem solving. As a parent, I can track my childs progress and grades online daily.

Teachers hold students to a high standard both academically and personally. The mix of traditional curriculum and current day enhancements including technology, STEM offer a platform to develop each student to their best capability.

Our children receive a great message of stewardship and have many occasions to display this while at school. They partner with the Delta Nursing Home for monthly visits, assist the Bethlehem Center throughout the year with meal service and donations for Easter/Thanksgiving/Christmas baskets. These actions foster a desire to seek opportunities to help outside of school sponsored alliances.

Love the class sizes and the one on one attention that each child gets. Have been at the school for 4 years now and every year I get happier and happier we made the right decision to send our kids to GMC.

We love GMC for all of the great staff and tight knit community that it provides. There are a lot of great things about the Catholic education and small, private school environment. Our child is very happy there.

Only catholic school in Visalia. Students receive an excellent academic and religious education. Small class sizes and great parent involvement. Can't say enough good things about this school.

My a kids have been going to GMC for 9 years now. Our first years, I admit there where challenges. We hung in there. Over the years a pattern emerged. The staff really love our children and that means so much to us. I feel the staff and fellow parents who we have been going to school with for all those years, really care about our kids. The principal Mrs. Rast is a great leader and role model for our children, as are many teachers and parents. Whom we trust. Our experience has been extraordinary. The homework load is heavy. My kids have met every challenge, after all our family believes that it's the homework and the ability to stay up with the load which are the true keys to a successful future. The classes are not super big and by graduation the kids are bonded pretty tight, giving them courage to face the world with confidence.

Terrible staff isn't friendly and just wants you to pay your dues. I always paid my sons dues on time. I found out that they would discipline my child without contacting me. For example his teacher forced him to sit under a tree by himself during lunch just for joking in class. He even got detention for farting in class accidentally. I would recommend this school no one.

I would say office staff is rude...never a nice experience calling the office. I am sure that is not a reflection of the McCann school system or reflection of the Church just the staff

Both myself an my sister attended both at different times, school staff was poorly trained and well school really sucked, the principal Mrs Rast was amazing and one teacher every now and then who really cared. Was not worth the tuition my parents had to pay. Took IOWA state test instead of CAL class of 2009

I am a current student at GMC, and I am addressing the review below. The school provides a great moral compass for the students that is wonderful in this day and age. We are very capable of answering questions in sentence form, and comprehending written material. Laptops are expensive for a small school. I have had typing programs and art since kindergarten. We do book reports on grade appropriate literature, and oral presentations. We compete in diocese and county-wide academic events. The teachers are always there to help and guide us. I've had an awesome nine years there.

Very poor academics and academic performance. An alarming number of students in the higher grades read very poorly and do not retain or comprehend written material. Many students are incapable of answering test questions in sentence form, so test adaptations have to be made - most of these students have been educated at this school their whole lives. What has gone wrong here? A private school with no AR program?!!! No laptop program for junior high grades? No foreign language program? No art program? Antiquated computers and no typing program? No book reports are ever assigned. Reading of full length books and grade appropriate novels is not assigned nor required. Only one teacher gives special adssignments, but other than that there are no reseacrh reports assigned, no oral presentations, no special projects. Again NO AR/ Accelerated Reader program!! It is not what one would expect from a private, Catholic school.
