While the principal is charismatic, it does not outweigh our dissatisfaction with the lower grades. The behavioral expectations for young children are not age-appropriate. For instance, during mass—which lasted 45 minutes instead of the promised 30—I witnessed staff raising their voices and asking restless children, "What is wrong with you?" Furthermore, student privacy is poorly handled; a teacher was indiscreet when my child experienced an embarrassing incident.Communication and policy enforcement are also inconsistent. The school enforces a strict, factory-level nut ban due to severe allergies, which heavily impacts students who rely on nuts for protein. However, I observed other students eating what appeared to be peanut butter sandwiches, suggesting uneven enforcement. Additionally, a staff member in the front office is consistently gruff and unwelcoming—-she can be “happy “ some days so I guess that makes her moody. Finally, the school culture fell short. Despite emphasizing kindness, we observed rampant favoritism toward staff members' children and subtle bullying through social isolation. The school lacks proactive instruction in pro-social skills and peer citizenship. Lastly, younger grades are forced to rest with their heads flat on tables, which feels unnecessarily uncomfortable. I understand the community's loyalty to the church, but I guess we were outsiders snd this wasn’t for us.

Prior to this school year, I would have wholeheartedly rated OLPH 5/5 overall. Since the Diocese removed our beloved principal & caring priest (after almost 20 year), an administration came in with a principal & priest who do not consult the parent board before making significant changes & important decisions, honor students’ feelings, or respect parent input They rule with hubris, ignorance, & a serious lack of perspective.

After 8 years of having both of our children attend the school (& earn good grades), we made the decision to place them elsewhere, due to the principal failing to commit to the following (I quote):

1. [students] will feel safe in their classroom;
2. [students] will not be exposed to extremist religious comments made by staff/faculty; &
3. [students] will be taught by teachers who will be supported in not only providing intervention/re-teach for students…

We truly believe in Catholic schooling, but warn anyone thinking about sending kids to OLPH to think twice.

I couldn’t have asked for more for middle school. I am so grateful I was at OLPH...I got to meet amazing people, have amazing experiences, and everything was just great. Book Club was the only hassle, but I’m not complaining. I miss the school and all the staff and I hope that everything will go back to normal soon so kids can have the same experience that I did!

They gave me such a great preparation for high school workload and I am so grateful for that

Posted: October 23, 2020

I had wonderful teachers all 3 and a half years I was at the school...definitely effective.

Posted: October 23, 2020

We had the most polite kids I have ever stumbled across- they are grateful and respectful and buried somewhere they all have a great heart and mean well

Posted: October 23, 2020

Mr.Dodd is my most favorite principal and all the teachers had great leadership skills

Posted: October 23, 2020

it’s a private school- it doesn’t have the funding to support all learning differences and kids with learning differences would probably be served better at a school with a proper program.

Posted: October 23, 2020

They do something about it and stand up for the lesser kids

Posted: May 23, 2017

At times the homework can become repetitive but overall it does challenge the students.

Posted: May 23, 2017

Mr. Dodd is a solid and strong leader. He shows great compassion but I can tell that he will hold any student or teacher accountable if needed. His students know that he truly cares about them.

Mr. Dodd has set a great example on the expectations and structure of the school. I feel that the teacher's we've worked with have implemented the characteristics of integrity, compassion and respect. I can clearly see these characteristics in action when I'm able to attend Mass on Friday as the students show great respect for our Lord.

My children have learned so much in the short time they have attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help school. Teachers set a high standard for their students and it's clearly evident and beautiful when you see the kindergarten class flawlessly leading Mass through readings that even adults might have a difficult time getting through.

We live 30 miles away from Our Lady of Perpetual Help school. My wife and I work in Clovis and to be honest, I enrolled my children at OLPH until I could figure out how to have my kids attend our local Catholic school. However, I don't even consider moving my children out of OLPH. My children have had a great experience here. The teacher's and Mr. Dodd genuinely care about their students. I am very pleased with the school in regards to religion, education, support and communication. I have very been impressed with how the school has supported and enriched the visual and performing art programs. Mrs. Zubacz is an amazing teacher and the school is blessed to have such a talented and passionate instructor.

Our daughter has attended OLPH since 2014 and we have had an amazing experience. This school has so much to offer their students. They are blessed with a principle who TRULY cares about his students. He greets them every morning at the gate to tell them hi, give them a hug or high five. He is always available for his students and us as parents with our questions, concerns or ideas. All my daughters teachers have been very hands on, caring, fair and knowledgeable. One of her teachers stayed after school once a week to help any of her students if they needed help with home work or class work. This was great since I knew it was not something they had to do but rather something they wanted to do for their students success. The school offers MANY sport programs with a great athletic director who goes the extra mile for the kids. I would definitely recommend OLPH for an amazing educational experience.

Our daughter graduated from the 8th grade last weekend at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School after attending since kindergarten. Our experience with OLPH and the education our daughter received exceeded our expectations. The school is centered on faith, academics and service and our daughter has grown in every area. During our nine years at OLPH, school leadership (Father Robert, Mr. Dodd, and Mrs. Forcey) have continually made sure that the school moved forward and evolved opportunities available for students. The iPad program for 7th and 8th grade, the new music room and music teacher, the development of clubs (to provide students extra curricular opportunities outside of school sports) are just a few examples. Providing our daughter a quality Catholic education was (and is) very important to us. What we didn't count on was the impact of the school community on our life. At OLPH, our daughter has made many lifelong friends, and we've been blessed to meet and develop friendships with awesome OLPH families. Thanks to the quality of instruction at OLPH, our daughter is headed to high school fully prepared and will start her freshman year enrolled in numerous honors courses. We love Our Lady of Perpetual Help School!

My children have been going to this school for 3-4years. The staff and faculty are amazing, and the parents who have their children there are amazing too. I am so blessed to be able to send my kids there. They all wear uniforms and so my children are oblivious on social and economic classes. Everyone, there is taught about Gods love and each is special. My children just love it there, they feel safe and I feel comfortable knowing they are in a school that will teach them on how to be good stewards.

All teachers are credentialed and there are classroom aides in most classes.

My daughter attends here and my son graduated several years ago. Their spiritual and academic needs were met. My son attends a top university and has a strong faith.

OLPH School provides an environment for children that is family-like, encouraging, and motivating. The staff, students, and parents all work together to ensure success to students at all levels. The school embraces technology with a 1:1 iPad program in the junior high as well as access to whole-class iPad sets in the younger grades. Each grade has large in-class libraries that are utilized each day. Teachers embrace their role as educators as well as having an opportunity to share the Catholic faith with those they serve. This is a wonderful place to bring your child if you are looking for nop notch education, a caring staff, technology, faith, music, art, sports, and more. It is a well-rounded place of faith and learning.

From what I understand, they support all they are able to. Since it is a private school that receives no state funding, they are limited as to what they can do.

Posted: May 22, 2017

Principal and Pastor have been a school for over 5 years and school has grown under their leadership.

Posted: May 22, 2017

My daughter has thrived in sports, extra-curricular activities, and in the classroom. She feels loved both by staff and students.

Posted: February 6, 2017

Decisions are made haphazardly and without the best interests of the student in mind.

Posted: February 6, 2017

When the leaders of the school do not hold integrity, compassion and respect it is hard for the children to develop strong character.

Posted: February 6, 2017

When students do not have access to basic needs the teachers cannot properly do their job. There is also a major lack of training for the teachers.

Posted: February 6, 2017

In some classes hw counts as much as 60 percent or more of the total grade.

Posted: February 6, 2017

Lack of basic needs for students. No cafeteria, no library, facilities in need of repair, classroom materials not being used as intended. Class sizes are too large, mid 30's or higher in the lower grades. Would not recommend this school to anyone.

OLPH is an amazing school. Our two boys attend K and 2nd grade. The faculty is amazing at teaching and maintaining a healthy and positive environment in the classrooms. The principal and leadership are both loving and professional. If you want your children to grow their faith and academics this is the place to be. Our family is blessed to have found this hidden jewel in Clovis. God bless...

OLPH is the best School that I will recommend to my friends and family. Me and Husband made a good choice bringing my child to OLPH,such a amazing principal, teacher and staff. My child is always love to go to school to see her teacher and classmates. Im happy that my child is exceeding in catholic and academic education. Bringing words of GOD everyday in her daily activities is such a wonderful contribution that I always be thankful for OLPH school.

Me and husband choice OLPH school because its surrounded with friendly and dedicated staff. I would recommend the school to my friends and family who wants their children to have a catholic foundation and good academic education.

OLPH is a small school with a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere. It is Catholic school with the added bonus of having the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception teaching the children in a loving manner. Our children have been attending for over 8 years and they have a strong faith and academic foundation because of OLPH School. I would recommend this school to families who are seeking a strong Catholic foundation and want more for their children than learning test-taking skills.

OLPH is educating both the hearts and minds of our children--what a blessing to have them enrolled at a school whose goal is to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ.

OLPH was an answer to prayer for our family. My son graduated from this school three years and my daughter has been here since kindergarten. High academic standards blended with a strong Catholic identity make the school a great place for children. It is filled with a dedicated staff and a pastor who is actively involved in the school. We are blessed to be part of this great school community.

Enrolling our children at olph school has been The best decision that my wife and I have made as parents. The kids start each day by praying together as a school. The kids all go to mass every Friday together as a school. The strong academic curriculum is interwoven around the heart of spiritual education. The families at OLPH School are humble yet strong. More importantly, having our 3 children at this school has helped our family create a stronger bond by developing a stronger and more regular spiritual prayer life as our kids come home from school new and familiar prayers to say together.

OLPH has been a blessing for our daughter. She came from a public school in Clovis. The staff has been very supportive of her. The teacher to student ratio is usually 1 to 12 in the lower grades. They have High Academic Standards from Preschool through eighth grade. They take pride in their campus and celebrate Jesus everyday in many different ways.

Well it's 2013 and my kids have been enrolled there the past three years. I cannot be more pleased and proud of my children. Any issues that have Came up have always been taken care of in an equal and professional manner. I love the academics the structure and foundation my kids have built since there time at olph. There is always going to be something negative someone can say. But for the most of us at olph we are family and any issues that have occurred are taken on together. I love everyone there that's faculty from our wonder principal to out front office. I think every year gets better and with more voices and more help every year our school continues to succeed.

I would have to say that OLPH is a wonderful school, teachers are great and my daughter loves the school. Mrs R. is an excellent teacher and wants the students to do well. I highly recommend the school if you want a strong faith based foundation along with an academic education.
