All 3 of our kids went to CVCS for high school. They stayed very grounded in knowing Christ, received an education that prepared for college and were able to play sports as well. Two have graduated college and have gone on to great jobs (engineering and teaching), and the third has one more year studying Biology. I would highly recommend CVCS.

CVCS is a wonderful school and has blessed our family is so many ways. My daughter graduated two years ago and my son will graduate this year. My children have been VERY well prepared for college and life with strong academics, fabulous teachers, sports, and a community that can't be beat. The teachers understand each individual student and help them to grow in their studies as well as their faith. My children have had the opportunity to enjoy their favorite sports and try some new ones as well. CVCS feels like a family through and through. The Administration, all the faculty, staff, students, and families are a close community enjoying the pursuit of excellence all in a warm and encouraging environment. A small-ish campus with a BIG heart and purpose!

This is our second year at CVCS, I have a son in 6th grade and a daughter in 9th. My are thriving! My 6th grade son went from reading under his grade level and needing intervention at our previous school to reading at a 9th grade level. The personal attention from the teachers, the involvement. Its a caring and great environment to help the kids be the best versions of themselves. My expectations have been exceeded, highly recommend!

We love CVCS! We started in elementary and currently have kids in middle and high school. The teachers have expertise in their subjects and a love for the students. The classes are small allowing the teachers to know what each child needs. High School offers numerous AP classes as well as individualized academic planning.
My kids have participated in various electives including performing arts (The Little Mermaid Jr., Newsies - full Broadway version, etc.), culinary arts, financial planning, and more. Trips to Sacramento in 4th Grade and the East Coast in 8th grade bring what they are studying to life.
The high school sports programs are also top-notch. The teams consistently compete at the top of their leagues. The coaches care about the students and the teams have an amazing team atmosphere.
But the most important item that sets CVCS apart is the love for Christ that is evidenced in everything that they do. We gladly re-enroll our kids each year in this amazing school!

When schools shut down during Covid, my husband and I decided it was time for a change, and we could not be happier with our decision. Our children are happy with the decision too! The college-prep education they are receiving at CVCS is on the same level as any public school in the area. But there is so much more that I appreciate about the school. The Christ-centered approach aligns with my familys values, and I am so happy for that influence in their day to day lives. The teachers and administration are dedicated to knowing my children and developing their character. Class sizes are small, and there are many options for different elective classes. All of the sports programs are competitive in their leagues, and both of my kids have found their place and are excelling. I wish we had made the move years earlier!

We have 2 students currently enrolled at CVCS in high school. It is our 3rd year at CVCS and we cannot say enough good things. Our youngest also attended 8th grade in the middle school. CVCS provides a dedicated staff whose main goal is develop kids into outstanding students, and more importantly, great people. The Christian environment provides a strong base of values and builds confidence. The classes are small, allowing the teachers to really focus on high level instruction, while the students get much needed support. CVCS provides a challenging college prep environment that has really set our kids up for success in college and in life. In addition to great academics, CVCS has a tremendous athletic program with great coaches and a record of great success on the field/courts. CVCS offers a high level education that far exceeds all of the local public schools and is on par with the best private schools in Orange County.

We moved to Southern California a year ago while our son was in Middle School. The staff and students were authentic in welcoming us as a new family. The academics matched what we were accustomed to and the sports programs, especially baseball, have exceeded our expectations. Our son has enjoyed his time here so much that he refers to it as home! CVCS is a gem of a school and community.

Our two elementary aged children attend CVCS and we could not be more impressed with the school and our childrens experience thus far. The academics are rigorous, they have separate teachers for their specials like Spanish, Art, Music and PE and the teachers, principal and faculty go above and beyond to challenge and help the students grow academically and spiritually. We are extremely pleased with the various opportunities for parents to be involved and on campus, the diverse extra curricular activities available but most importantly the CVCS culture is something that cannot be replicated. We highly recommend this school and are incredibly grateful to be a part of the CVCS community.

This school has been the biggest blessing to our family. This is our third year at the school and my kids look forward to going to school every day. It is a close-knit community with a Christ centered education. The teachers and staff are always smiling and it's such a warm and positive environment. Every time I step foot on campus, I just know this is exactly where my kids are supposed to be. We are also extremely blessed to have two armed security guards on campus every single day, which I think in this day and age, is crucial to have. I feel my kids are truly safe at school each day. I couldn't be happier with CVCS and I plan to send my kids to this school through their senior year of high school.

We are in our 7th year at CVCS and we can honestly say that we truly feel blessed that we found and chose this school for daughter. We love the sense of community and the family atmosphere as well as the phenomenal group of teachers, coaches and supporting staff who truly love our children and embrace the Christian Faith. We are grateful for our Head of Schools, Board of Trustees as well as our elementary principal, Marnie Day as they lead us on this prosperous journey. The significant enhancements and expansion of classrooms has already been such a blessing to our family. Without a doubt, this is truly an National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence!

My daughters have been attending CVCS for 6 years. Our family has had a great experience at this sweet school. The teachers truly care about and get to know each student. The whole environment at CVCS is one of love and kindness which is really important to me. My girls have really enjoyed being in an environment where the high schoolers are kind and helpful to them (my girls are elementary students) so they have great role models of what big kids should act like. The biblical emphasis is super important and filters through everything the school does. Overall we have been very happy here.

We are very sorry to hear the experience this family had. We have done a thorough investigation and have no record of these circumstances happening on our campus and believe that this must have happened at another school. The tight knit close community we have as a school is truly special. The behavior described is not something that would be condoned.

Our school theme this year was "Be the Difference" where we encouraged students to live out the Bible verse 1 John 3:18 Dear Children, let us love not with words or speech but with action and truth. The CVCS students showed so much of Christ's love in the ways that they treated each other. This was especially inspiring this year!

This school tolerates and actually condones bullying. The high school principal actually stood and watched as our child was carried onto a table and wrapped up in duct tape. The whole event was recorded on a cell phone by a student. When we asked the principal about this, he said it was no big deal, then we called his bluff and showed him the cell phone video. I also taught there as a full time substitute teacher and there were boys who bullied and when I disciplined them and then when it became so intolerable, took them to the principal. I was told these boys were untouchable because of who their parents were and not to be disciplined. Two of our boys in the baseball program were amazing athletes, but the coaching they had in a so called Christian school was so hypocritical. The coaches cussed at the boys all the time. Do NOT waste money on this school!!!!

My family loves CVCS. The school environment is more like a family. I like that the teachers really care. My children like that the student population is kind and has very few 'fast' kids (they do mandatory drug testing so I'm sure this keeps out a certain element). The school as done a lot this year to keep school fun and I think it's worth every penny. Knowing my kids are getting a rigorous college-prep education in a fun, family and Christian environment is huge for us.

The kids here are really nice. They are not diverse and show difficulty engaging with people of different ethnic and and sociocultural backgrounds...but I assume this is because 99% of the kids attending here are from well to do families that like to keep to themselves.

All the principals of this school are the few that do all the leg work to engage kids and youth. They seem interested and clearly want to mentor their pupils. They are the PR team for parents. The only problem is that the PR team promises a lot but the teachers and staff don't deliver on the promises.

The JR high level pulls at straws to engage even children that have tested as gifted in the public school system. Even they have learning difficulties and so I cannot imagine how other types of learning differences would fare. The high school professors have absolutely no communication with parents about their kids learning progress aside from their weekly grading reports. In fact if you ask a teacher about your kids progress he/she usually has not idea what problems any of their students are experiencing.

We have not seen any bullying at this place. Kids are really nice. When we first got there 2 years ago the older kids seemed really rowdy, but now that they are gone, I just see nice kids. My only comment now is that some of their exchange students are very well to do and do not appear to be very nice...but I wouldn't call it bullying.

I wouldn't pay all the money this school charges to just have my kids attend a school. You can have non-engaged teachers just about anywhere for free. Honestly our experience with the local public high school was 80-99% better. Innovative teachers and well organized programs.

We are in our 3rd year at CVCS and we feel truly blessed by our experience and our son (1st grade) is thriving...and the one-on-one attention is fantastic. This school not only academically prepares the children for the next grade and beyond, but they are heavily focused on character development and teaching strong Christian values. Their Bible curriculum is second-to-none. The teachers are wonderful, the pull out classes are wonderful....
And we also love that it is a very small community and everyone knows everyone and it feels very safe. We love it so much we drive 30 minutes each way just to get there...come check it out.

We are new parents at CVCS with a High Schooler this year, if you are considering schools for your son or daughter, this may be helpful.The community of people at CVCS is dedicated to helping your child reach their full potential. The staff and teachers are passionate and dedicated. Academics are a very high bar - but so is character development. Something that most parents don't realize is that, if participation in activities and sports is a priority for your child, a smaller school is the ideal environment. They can play Girl's volleyball (even if they aren't 6' tall), they can play Football (even if they don't plan on a career in the NFL). Leadership opportunities abound, and they are meaningful roles - not just selling tickets or other fund raising item. Performing arts? Take your pick. All of this in a safe, drug-free environment. Nice families, nice kids, highly motivational staff and you will feel part of the experience.

We would be lost without CVCS!!! We have a 2nd & 5th grader that have both attended here since JK. From the day we walked on campus we could feel the Holy Spirit working at our school. Growing up as a kid in South Orange County the words private school meant bubble . Even worse a bubble behind the orange curtain : A protected/sheltered group of kids who didn t know about the real world. But I was so wrong. At CVCS my kindergartner and 1st grader are involved in things I would have never dreamed that they would be a part of. My daughter at seven years old spent a day packing meals for those in need. My son in kindergarten was sorting through my closet looking for shoes he could donate to those without shoes. Seeing my six year old so passionate about something so selfless; a crisis the world can t seem to solve I thought My Lord how REAL is that. I have kids now with a bigger heart to serve a heart to love and a foundation to move forward and lead in the world with positivity and light. ... they are not stuck as being 1 in 36. CVCS is the way school should be. Bringing my kids to school and not worrying about their day, how they are going to be treated, or who is going to comfort them if they fall emotionally or physically is such a relief. They are challenged and they are supported. They are pushed to be leaders and they are built up to help others.

My son has attended the CVCS Homeschool Co-op since kindergarten, and will be entering grade 2 in the fall. We would love for him to attend the Co-op until he finishes junior high, and then transition into the superb, blue-ribbon award-winning, full-time program. The Co-op program provides a perfect combination of a first-class academic experience in a Christ-centered environment. Students attend a weekly all-school chapel, in addition to a special family chapel once a month, in which children from each class are recognized for demonstrating specific biblical character traits in their daily lives. The curricula is Christ-centered and prayer is an integral part of Co-op life. The Co-op has been blessed with the most patient, kind and caring teachers who go above and beyond to show God's love. Parental involvement is high, from both mothers and fathers, who provide additional strong christian role models. I am a parent of a student in the CVCS homeschool program and totally disagree with a low rating and the bullying problem mentioned in the review below. In our experience the homeschool co-op program has been nothing but a huge, loving family. The teachers watch carefully over the playground. If any unkindness or negativity occurs the teachers and aides are quick to resolve and promote kindness on the playground through prayer. Our co-op is also outstanding. The director prays over each student and makes a huge effort to know each family. The teachers really care about the students and families. One teacher even invited us over to her house to fully explain some of the curriculum I didn't understand. You are truly receiving one-on-one attention in the co-op. Also the co-op parents are all very close as well. You can find us all chatting after-school and enjoy doing outside school activities together. We even have a monthly mom's night out. You should definitely check out our co-op program!

Capistrano Valley Christian Schools is like a big family. My 3 children are in the high school and have been blessed by great opportunities; wonderful teachers, who are godly mentors; challenging academics; and a caring atmosphere. Teachers go above & beyond to show God's love & assist the students. My children have had life changing opportunities to be student leaders, perform in musical theater and the MACY's awards, perform in the choir, and participate in athletics. CVCS is preparing my kids for college and coming along side me to raise them to be strong Christian leaders in our community. CVCS is one of the best kept secrets in our community I encourage you to check it out and let the word out.

This school is excellent. My children are in the High School. I like that it has Christian world view, with VERY high academics, low teacher-student ratio, lots of family involvement and an opportunity to play multiple sports if your child wants to. They do some great theater productions. The baseball program is first rate, the football program is too, as well as an excellent basketball coach and team. My sons are known by all of their teachers and the administration so they don't get away with much mischief. They have the encouragement to be in student leadership and missions trips and are preparing for college in every core subject with AP classes. As a parent, I know there is no perfect school- and there are a lot to choose from in this area. But this school has been operating for 40 years and I think they are doing a great job.

We pulled our daughter out of public school 6th grade mid-year and enrolled her at Capistrano Valley Christian School, and have never looked back! The small classes and genuine love the teachers have for teaching, along with the truth of Christianity being taught has made our experience wonderful. My daughter is now a freshman in High School, played volleyball in the fall, and will be performing in the school musical in the spring! We absolutely love this school!

My kids have attended this school from K-12. Every step of the way has been a blessing to our family. The small school environement provides a safe confortable place for them to learn and have fun. Also they have had numerous opportunites to experience sports, arts, trips, etc. that they never would have had in a large or public school. The academics are rigorous but the small class sizes and personal interaction with the faculty ensures success. The personal attention also benefits athletes. My son who does not graduate until 2016 already has more than one D1 full athletic scholarships offers.

I think others should know that Yes, there is a bullying problem. My children attended the homeschool they offer & the full-time kids all play together at lunch. This is mostly when the problem occurs & the insults directed by the fulltimers, NOT just 'kid-stuff' but sophisticated, well thought out MEAN name calling pinpointing things children cannot change about themselves. They could improve if the F/T ADMINISTRATION & STAFF would have a ZERO tolerance policy on bullying. It would be helpful if the kids had to sign a contract after being advised they will be dealt with severely. It would also be helpful for the kids to know Jesus had a special heart for those who were outcasts. Very sad as the one thing I liked was the homeschool teachers. They are very good at what they do.

High academic standards within a Christ centered environment, what more could you ask for in a private Christian school. We have two children here in the elementary school and have had 2 wonderful years with loving and nurturing teachers. We have not had any instances of bullying ( cannot speak for JH or the high school which I know is putting a zero tolerance attitude to bullying in place) nor has my daughter encountered any mean girls - so far we have been very happy here and will hopefully remain here through high school.

My child was lucky enough to attend CVCS for Kindergarden last year, and is returning for first grade. I was stunned with the amount of work that they do...even in Kindergarden! However, by the end of the year my child was reading. There were lots of fun programs designed to get them interested in reading and math. Another wonderful plus about this school is that they have teachers aides in the classroom. It really gave more individualized attention to kids in the class! It seemed all the kids(especially mine)were attached to their aide, Mrs. Blaydon. She was there for the extra help and hugs, and as a parent I loved that. I like the principal, I disagree with the review that said she was unapproachable. While I only had occasional encounters with her, she was always pleasant, calling me by name and offering kind greetings. If anything, her sticky sweet demeanor may come off as disingenuous at times. I am pleased with this school and hope that we can continue at CVCS all the way through high school!

This school has a huge systemic problem with bullying. My children have all experienced bullying for several years. The staff are poorly trained in behavior management and the administrators play favorites towards the families that contribute $$$$. Bad behavior is tolerated and families of these children are not dealt with appropriately. It appears that the adults are completely in denial or just don't care! Very ineffective in managing the students. I know several families that have left due to the bullying issue. So disappointing for a Christian school.

I totally disagree with the previous review regarding "no mean kids or bullying". I know several children, including my own who are bullied on a daily basis. There is a culture of acceptance and denial of bad behavior. Examples are: spitting on kids, physical assaults, throwing food, constant name calling, throwing rocks at kid, intimidation,,... Many of the teachers minimize the behavior or are too interested in being "buddies" with the kids. The administrators have been unwilling to take appropriate action. "Boys will be boys" attitude. They are too concerned with confronting parents and/or getting rid of the "bad seeds" I believe for fear of losing money. Very antiquated Head of Schools who needs a course in behavior management. So disappointing for a Christian school. The academics are stellar, and many of the teachers are terrific! The extra programs are great as well. However, because of the administrations ineffectiveness to create a safe environment, it's not a place to put your child.

This school has been a wonderful learning environment for my children. The school admisitration team are' in touch', reactionary and forward thinking. They listen, they respond and they get things done. At the same time they create this very warm and loving environment for families at the school. My children have grown spiritually and academically. They are respectful and loving to their peers and work hard at their subjects without needing to be pushed. My family love this school and we hope to remain there through Junior High and High school.

I agree with the parent on homework. There is ALOT given at upper elementary, more even than in junior high and my kids have had to drop out of alot of after school activities. You also need to be able to have the time to help them with it and when you have 3 all with 2-3 hours a night it is exhausting.Kids work hard at CVCS and so do the parents, expect homework and project work during the holidays and weekends. We have looked at other options because of the extra homework load but the kids at this school just pull us back every year. They are kind compassionate and just good friends to our kids. There are no mean kids, gangs or bullying. I like the principal and all the administration and apart from 1 (young/inexperienced) teacher my kids have all had wonderful years at CVCS. So I guess you have to weigh up what is important to you.

Of all the schools in the area we felt that this school was the most family orientated with high educational standards and good value for money, however we feel cheated by some of the hidden costs and the standard of some of the school facilities. Firstly students in JH (7th & 8th grade) have to pay for ALL their textbooks, this is somewhere in the region of $500 extra per year on top of all stationary supplies. Coming from another private middle school in the area, where all school supplies (including textbooks) were included in the tuition fees, this was an extra that we hadn't anticipated. There is also a charge if your child is late for class because his locker wont open ($50) even thought the lockers are over 20 years old and in a terrible state. Maybe thats the plan to get more money from the parents!!! Some of the classrooms are very small, you can tell they have been reassigned from storage areas and some dont have AC or heating. They are also not very soundproof and my son struggles during testing with the noise from the elementary recess areas. The staff and people are very nice and we have felt very welcome but we are not going to keep being fined for faulty lockers!

This school (elementary) has changed alot in the past year since the new principal took over. There are a lot of new 'fun' elements ( pull -outs and activities) that have been added, however it is at the expense of core subjects like Math and English. I know many parents now have their children in extra tutoring because the core subjects are being rushed through in class and there is no time for questions from the children and they are falling behind. If your child cannot do their worksheet in class it is sent home for you or their tutor to help them. Allow 2 hours, at least, for homework for 4th/5th&6th grade and if your child gets a 'C' in any subject, you will get a letter sent home asking what you are going to do about it! The families are wonderful, the teachers stressed, the curriculum punishing and the principal unapproachable.

Myself and my wife toured this school for our elementary aged kids. It had a warm, family atmosphere, administration were very welcoming and friendly and you could tell the teachers really loved their place of work and the kids they teach. I did feel however that the school administration was very focused on their 'high school' achievements and programs and the rest of the school appeared to be 'lead' by the high school element. Whilst I appreciate that the school has a very successful high school to shout about I would like to have heard more about their elementary school achievements. My wife spent some time in the elementary classes and was very impressed by the standard of work, however she noticed that all the display cases in the entrance were full of high school work/photos/achievements. I guess for us we felt that our kids elementary sucesses might be overlooked in a school so focused on high school achievements. I think if a school contains 3 schools then each school school should be given equal priority and we didn't feel that was happening here. Having said all that, it was the BEST school we toured in the area and will relook at it again when we relocate in 2012.

I have had the privilege of being an All CIF Football Player, League MVP, and the United States #5 Top Olympic Weightlifter in the entire nation and a National Champion in the 77 kg Class, the most competitive class in USAW. Because of CVCS Olympic Development Program I will be attending LSU of Shreveport on a Olympic Weightlifting Scholarship. The CVCS Olympic Development Program was founded in 2009 and in 3 months of its existence became the nations top 3rd performing team at School-Age and again in 2011 again became the nations top 2nd performing team at School-Age Nationals. We have the 2nd Largest Youth Olympic Development Program in the state of California. We boast 3 National Champions, 10+ State Champions, and over 20+ Regional Champions.
