Large school with continued problems with violence that go unanswered. Repeated lockdowns and problems in the surrounding community. Many staff members were former students themselves who talk about the old glory days but don't try to make anything better currently. The campus is pretty but falling apart. Look elsewhere.

Theres really no such thing as special ed only on the IEP/paper not enforced ,special ed is a self contained class with a majority of student have a history of misbehavior and violent behavior or have been spelled from others schools ,I don't recommend this high school for special ed .

I am currently enrolled in this school and it is my biggest regret. This school cares nothing about its students and student safety. the fights are way out of control and the fact that i fear for my own safety after watching a pier get beat in the face with metal water bottle and do nothing but cancel a pep rally and close off important buildings off to students is highly disappointing

As many other schools, the experience is base in how involved you are with your kid's activities. My son started 9th grade in 2022 and the experience was pretty good so far. I messaged the teachers and all of them answered. We attended to the welcome 9th grade event before school start so we can see the classrooms and meet the teachers, including the counselors and it was great. My son love math and science and He adjusted very well. The professors encourage and support them to do better which is amazing. There were some incidents with the students, but I am glad, we got a phone call to inform us. My only concern could be the need of ramp for disabled students which They have but not in all the buildings.

NFA is one of the best schools in connecticut and it deserves a lot more than a 5/10 rating. They give you so many options for AP courses and they have a large variety of courses for people with different interests. They have art, computer, 8+ languages, photography, design etc. My son found it really hard to decide which courses to take but the counselors were so helpful and organized. He graduated with great test scores and an admission to his first choice of college and as a parent I couldn't be happier with the safety, friendliness, and academic excellence of this school. This school provides so many opportunities but it is up to the students to make use of them. That is probably why the test scores reported are so low, which makes the rating low. Trust me and all the other 17 that rated this school, it is one of the best you will find.

Our daughter is a freshman at NFA and we love the school! She came to the school from a small town, but has been welcomed and is transitioning well. The art department is exceptional and the faculty is enthusiastic and exemplifies all that teachers should be! If you have school choice, please consider NFA! You will not be sorry!
