Lillie B. Haynes School

We lived in PA before moving to East Lyme. So we have experienced one other elementary school besides Lillie B. Haynes. I can’t speak highly enough about Lillie B Haynes. They were a better school than we could have ever imagined. The social skills alone that they teach every morning as the kids are arriving to school is enough to make every parent jump for joy. The principal is a wonderful, warm, kind woman that teaches love and kindness in her school. The security guards are top notch. They give you a good feeling every time you arrive. When your kids arrive they give them a high five. They really make you feel like they care and they’re keeping everyone safe. Further, the teachers are personable, and relatable, and you can tell that they all really care about enforcing a positive school environment, and they really care about providing the best education possible.

As parents we are able to get a good gauge as to how our son was doing with his work at school. We knew when he couldn’t really understand something and when he was understanding. We could tell that he was getting the proper challenges.

We had Mr. Faulkner for our son’s third grade class. He came home smiling every day. As parents we could tell that it was a very healthy positive environment that our son was in.

At this school our son got positive reinforcement with “Bee Bucks.” It always made him really happy! They are also teaching the calm method. And they teach the children how to communicate well using precise communication skills such as “I agree,” and “I disagree,” and that it’s okay to disagree. I as a mom really appreciate all of these methods.

In the time we were at this school we have seen our son grow so much more confident and he has really grown out of his shell.

Our son was bullied at recess, and bullied at lunch. From what our son said there was an aid there right away to regulate what was going on. It sounds from what our son said like they dealt with it well and properly. Thankfully our son knew to come home and tell us the whole story, so we can also know to stay on top of it.

Lillie B. Haynes is a wonderful school. Both of my boys went here and they loved every second of it. My older son has a learning disability and my younger son has autism. I was so impressed with the services they received- especially the integrated preschool. The teachers and administrators were always looking to help in any way they could. I can't say enough about Lillie B. Haynes, I will speak highly of them whenever I can. Best school and school experience ever. Highly recommend.

My son is new to this school this year and we couldn't be happier. The staff and students made him feel so welcome. They are very family oriented as well. It amazes me how many parents attend programs at the school. I've never seen a teacher like his and I wish every student had the chance to be in her class. She makes them love school. I can't say enough but every student is lucky to be a student at Lillie B Haynes.

A wonderful child who lives in my house (a friend and her daughter) go there. She loves this school. I also have twin sons (4 yrs old) who I plan on sending to that school. :)
