Moved to voluntown in 2016 and fell in love with the small school that is VES. Teachers were warm and welcoming and the curriculumn is on point. It is a little school and the community atmosphere is great. The older kids (middle school) know and see the elementary kids and vice versa. The principal and teachers know every child by name and help create an atmosphere that is second to none. The other bonus of being a VES student is the amount of choices offered for high school- some of which are really AWESOME choices!

Kudos to VES, we feel fortunate to be apart of your community!

My children and my grandchild receive(d) their education in Voluntown. For the most part it tries hard to meet the student's needs. There are some teachers that really should retire, and some excellent teachers as well. They have had all day K for several years which is a real plus for the kids. The third grade team is phenomenal. Report cards should offer more information. Their safety policies should be improved - people can just walk in at the beginning of school without being buzzed in since the doors are unlocked. Overall, I think it offers a good education to the typical student, some enhanced interventions for gifted children, and I am not sure about special education. I feel my children received a better education than my grandchild is, but I guess that is the way it is in most public schools nowadays.

My child also has gone to this school for ten years. All was well until middle school. My child is well behaved, gets along with everyone, and trys really hard.It seems like the teachers favor certain children in this school more than others and is graded differently from each other. I give this school a "D" en graded a rough draft for an essay at the end of the quarter

Terrible. After 10 years in this school, it grows boring and you know everyone in the class. If you dislike someone, you cant get away from them.
