My family loves Cordova Park! My child has been here for 4 years and has received so much help from so many amazing teachers and school personnel. My child has received help with speech, phonics, fluency, occasional counseling, and has had impactful teachers. My child has struggled with reading until this year. Everything has finally seemed to click thanks to all the support and guidance! Couldn't have asked for a better start in his/her journey!

Well let’s say that I have lived here in Pensacola for 68 yrs. The kids that do well are the ones that come from affluent families. They get treated with a higher quality of respect than say a low income families child. They do not handle kids that are not in the box so to speak. They cover each other’s backs at all times . As stated earlier ant to push away kids that don’t fit in the mold. Maybe another institution would be better for you . Remember there are always alternatives regardless of your socioeconomic situation , ie step up for students. It will allow many more options than the basic liberal approach that is being undertaken in escambia co. My child 3 rd grade , they have prayers , pledge of allegiance, and a strong code of morals , respect and integrity. Not in a public school obviously.

We are in process of changing schools immediately. Kids are rewarded for not interacting with teacher. “Donut Disturb” sign displayed in classroom and if children sit quietly they are rewarded. My children never had bathroom accidents at their previous schools, and when my children were repeatedly sent home in clothes that didn’t belong to them I became very concerned. I tried to get answers for why they were not asking to use the restrooms and my daughter only stated that she did not want to interrupt and couldn't hold it. My son said the bathrooms scared him but he is not very articulate. My children are 2 years apart. I had requested communication directly from the clinic any time my children are sent so I could follow up with situations right away, and they continuously chose to not follow their own communication protocol. My husband brought this issue to the attention of the principal, and was assured it would not happen again. Another incident followed and, of course, there was no notification from the school. This lack of effort by the office administration is extremely disappointing and has cause severe mistrust in the school’s ability to accommodate or enforce any communication protocol regarding the wellbeing of my children. The staff treats certain parents different. They seem to brush off children with lower incomes, very classist vibes. I started to receive notifications for various reasons threatening that my daughter may no longer attend the school… first there was a notice that I had less than 5 day to get medical records they “never received”, then for attendance reasons, but nothing about my son in their gifted program. I guess my son’s grade are earning them those scores they like to display. My daughter has average grades, so I can’t quite put my finger on it. Overall, I don’t feel my children are benefiting at all from this facility.

My son did one wrong thing ONCE. Now every time someone in his class does something similar, he is blamed for it whether he did it or not. The teacher also won't let him speak while they are blaming him. Multiple times I've had reports sent home. My son doesn't lie. Now the kids do it on purpose to get him in trouble and nobody is doing anything about it. Not to mention he was a straight A student before all of this, and counting behavior as a grade is affecting his future. My son will not return next year

See above comments about how they may or may not try to send kids away to another school...make sure you research how the county works and make them pay for sending your kid off to another school if they refuse to work with them...

They “allegedly” try to push out any “problem” students...including kids with learningdisabilities that may drag tgeir rating/score down...teachers who transfer from here typically have an entitilement issue (from my observation) because things are typically done for them, so they don’t know how to deal with kids on a regular basis....”problem” kids are sent away

They allegedly have a high score because they allegedly send kids who might lower their scores off...they may or may not claim that your kid is better off somewhere else and force you to find another school. Make sure you research district policies in your situation and make them pay for having to do so if they supposedly can’t handle your kid just because of a learning disability...schools are supposed to be supportive...this school only supports an appearance...

The gifted program is top-notch. My "special area" child was sufficiently encouraged and stimulated.

The teachers don't give unneccesary homework, but when they do it is valuable in reinforcing subjects, encouraging reading (reading logs), or fun, creative projects.

All of the teachers we've had there for the last 6 years have been excellent. My child was more than prepared for middle school.

It did wonderful with communication between the teacher and office staff and the parent. I enjoyed my daughter's first year school and I hope it does great next year as well.

Extremely disappointed in the school. The whole year was spent evaluating my daughter and now she's being retained in kindergarten. Her teacher constantly sent notes home regarding her behavior and now she is sitting alone in the back of the class. We have spent every afternoon working on site words and reinforcing good behavior. My daughter was not helped in the school. She was pushed to the side.

When I moved into the Cordova Park neighborhood, I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. My husband grew up in the neighborhood and assisted that we live there when we started a family. Soon, I would find that 3 of my close neighbors had similar stories. This year, my daughter started kindergarten. That's nerve racking for a parent. Several of my friends not in the Cordova Park area were utilizing the school choice to attempt to get in to Cordova Park, I still didn't get it. After 1 year of having my daughter in Cordova Park, I finally get it. Barbara Payne was absolutely AMAZING with my daughter. She left for maternity leave and the care did not alter while she was away. Seeing teachers who genuinely care about all the students, seeing the community of the parents working together, seeing the students and their excitement to learn... I finally get it! I would give this school 100 stars if I could. Clean, Safe, Friendly, Great Teachers, Multiple opportunities to get involved... it's amazing!

My granddaughter did not like the subject of Math in the beginning of this her second grade year. She was only making mediocre grades and disliked
Her math homework. With a personal interest taken in making positive changes, her teacher helped her make a complete turn around. The final two grading periods of the year were totally different and she made A Honors. Additionally, she says she now loves math and looked forward to that class every day. This is through an interested and dedicated teacher to whom we will be always grateful. This is an excellent school that cares very much for ALL their students. Thank you Cordova Park Elementary!

My kids attended a horrible school last year and I went out of my way to apply for special permission to get them into this school. My oldest, 3rd grader, has ADHD and her teacher was awesome with reconizing the area she needed help in and accommodating her needs. My 1st grader has learned so much from her teacher. I've had no issues getting any concerns I had addressed and fixed. If we weren't moving out of state my kids wold definitely continue to attend!

This school is WAY over rated! We moved to the Bellview area and my son is about to complete his 1st year of middle school and I feel it is one of the best areas in Pensacola besides the Perdido area, which we can't afford. My daughter went to Cordova Park for 2 years and I've wanted her out since the beginning. I never see much homework coming home it's as if the teachers don't want to be bothererd. They seem to pass kids to the next grade even if they aren't making the grade. The problems with the students/discipline in the school make any learning environment a challenge which is too bad for the students that are there to learn. My daughter has told me on numerous occasions that she doesn't feel the teachers teach anything. She goes to class daily is told to take out a book read and then answer a few questions on the board. Where's the instruction? Also she's told me time and time again about 1 teacher in particular who texts on her phone the entire class period. Again where's the instruction? You're getting paid to teach! As a parent it's frustrating! At Bellview she has changed her attitude and I feel the teachers and staff there want to be there and love what they do. Bottom line, parents must get involved out of school if they really want to see results!

This is a great school if your a kiss up parent to the PTA, I am not nor do I feel I should have to be in order for my child to get a quality education! I am very involved with my child & my child's education. My children range in age from 21 to 10 & have witnessed the decline of this school it is heartbreaking. The principle selects who is worthy of her attention promotes a unfriendly environment to those who are not. She has run off the majority of good teachers, I'm lucky this year my child has a excellent one or I would have left. She blows off parent complaints, as I witnessed first hand. Principle of the year? I wonder what that title cost her? The assistant principal is a complete joke, I emailed her in response to a notice sent from her to me two months ago.... Still no response! I recommend this school to those who may be worthy of the leadership at this school... I hope you make the grade because this school doesn't anymore

My neice is in Kindergarden , and is being bullied and the staff is doing nothing about it, and the principal is avoiding my sister. My neice is very shy and non- confrontational. She has social anxiety.

I believe that Cordova Park is way over rated and I think there are very few good teachers there that will give a ADHD child any extra help. They are misleading about the intervention programs that are supposed to be offered. the guidance councelor is very misleading concerning Intervention. They do not like questions" about the way they teach or intervention programs. They will not go out of their way to help a child even though the classrooms are small they cannot make the children behave in the classroom or students that are disruptive.

Not prepared for ADHD students. There is good order at this school. No safety concerns unless we are speaking of the maturity level of the drivers picking up their children from school. Good programs and curriculum for the students. Everything runs very smoothly except for the dialog level between teachers and parents daily. The subject of bullying and awareness of students with disabilities needs work in the tolerance and sensitivity department. If your child moves nervously, talks too much or is anything less than all business minded and focused, be prepared for poor citizenship grades even at K level. They will not hesitate to give an ADHD student with all A's and B's an "F" in citizenship. If you have a normal child that is well behaved with no disabilities, this is a very good school and it would be easy for a motivated child to acheive
