so i am about to probably go to this school ive heard great reviews im nervous i have a brother who has autisum who will be going there parents i dont recommend going to surfside i struggled in that school its full of drama bullying and nonsense i used to go there

Overall teachings in this school are great, and if your a new student, students can be welcoming depending on the grade level your in.

Superb school! A-rated for many years in Bay County. K-8 and next to a high school as well. Awesome teachers, staff and leadership! Best in PC or PCB, FL

I have 2 children that attend Breakfast Point Academy, they both love it! Great teachers, safe location, and superb support staff...wouldn't send my kids anywhere else!

I am quite surprised to find such a low rating on this school! I also find it amusing that most of these bad reviews are from students... most likely middle school age. What adolescent doesn't hate their school at that age? My daughter transferred to this school this year after we relocated. After leaving a wonderful school we were quite uneasy about starting over. We have been extremely pleasantly surprised at how much we love this school. My daughter has an amazing teacher and the rest of the faculty has been wonderful and supportive. I will admit, there is one woman who works in the front office who is not a ray of sunshine but we just try to go to the opposite person working, if that's the case! Other than that, we love BPA!

Well the teachers are great, very friendly and so it the counselors but the office staff is horrible. I never have received a phone call back when I leave messages. They do not do their job entering info into he parent portal when I handed them the information personally. The school does not allow recess for these little kids who desperately need to release some energy. I can't even drop off my kids lunch if they forget it at home. Very, very disappointed in this new school. I am working on finding a new school.

I agree with the previous review.My son too has regressed significantly! He was also in the ESE classes and was on a 9th grade reading level and at a 5th grade math level.He since the beginning of the year, has now regressed so much that I have pulled him out and will home school him back to where he was. He has picked up what I can only call a "southern-country" accent. I stress to him the importance of being able to speak proper English.He is in 6th grade and was watching shows like "The magic school bus" He not once in 4 months had ANY home work and I feel that he was not pushed to his ability, but babied.They are not an "academy" they are an over crowded joke.They are at 130% capacity.There are students there that are from out of the area, and those that are brought to school each day.(one from Alabama that I know for a fact) This school , the staff and the PTA are not organized at ALL and I feel that they have set my son back by at least 2 years in the 4 months I allowed him to attend!

My son has been in the autism program at Breakfast Point for 3.5 yr. His K. and 2nd grade teachers were wonderful. He regressed significantly with the teacher he was placed with for '1st grade'. It is now Sept. Into his '3rd grade'. I was told numerous times he would be with the same teacher he had for 2nd grade. The school placed him with the teacher he regressed with during his 1st grade year. As soon as we found out my husband began searching for a new job. Some of the autism program teachers are great, some aren't. From my inquiries the aids have no special education training in autism. Over the 3.75 years we have lived here the school overall has become signifigantly overcrowded. If you are looking into moving to the area and have a child on the autism spectrum please check into Deer Point in Lynn Haven. We are relocating to another state that has advanced private and private school options for our son. My husband liked his job and the area is beautiful but if you have a child with any type of special needs I would advise avoiding Breakfast Points program. We are literally moving to another state due to the autism teachers lack of training at Breakfast Point.

My son has attended BPA since the third grade. He was diagnosed with a learning disability in the fifth grade. He was put into the ASPIRE program (with our permission) and given additional help with his reading comprehension. Each year after, he showed improvement. At the end of the seventh grade he achieved scores on the FCAT that allowed him to leave the ASPIRE Program. He was on the Honor Roll and is looking forward to beginning the eighth grade. All along the way we were kept informed of his progress with e-mails , face to face meetings and phone calls. If we had questions we could e-mail individual teachers and in every instance we were answered almost immediately. I cannot speak to problems others have had but we give thanks daily to the wonderful staff and teachers at Breakfast Point Academy.

My Daughter goes to Breakfast Point Academy, she has learned a lot since day one. She can read books and her writing is Beautiful. I enjoy volunteering at the school. Way to go Breakfast Point Academy Excellent Staff :)

My school shows lack of support for special needed or children with disabilities (District 1 school). Love the school and the teachers,but hate the school has no special classes to help learning process.

If your child is a typical child(preferably female), your child will most likely succeed at Breakfast Point. HOWEVER, if your child has ANY TYPE of disability or is different in any way from their perceived version of perfect, then your child will most certainly NOT benefit from this school. This is not merely my personal opinion, as a parent of a child who spent the worst 3 yrs. of his life at this school, but also as a professional who works with special needs children on a daily basis. We were cajoled, coerced, dissuaded, discouraged, and otherwise given a hard time at this school. My son, with Asperger's syndrome, joined the ranks of several students who were "politely" asked not to come back. It is, after all, an "A" rated school. But then, when you are only a few years old and have no frame of reference with which to measure your standards, I suppose any new school could be an "A" school. Bottom Line...worst school in Bay County..PERIOD!

As a former BPA student. The school honestly needs much work. First off; Most of the kids in the school are put off the hook WAY too many times. I knew many disrespectful punks that always got in trouble, but, the trouble most of the time was just a small detention, or sitting out during a fun activity. Honestly, I was a snitch. Many children STILL got off the hook. Even for something that would be considered potentially Harmful/Deadly. I would prefer they get ISS, because OSS does not cut it. While the children don't get enough discipline; Staff are amazing, mostly teachers.

I am a student at Bpa and its pretty good. I wouldn't recommend going to this school though. I can take the gross lunch food and the uniform rules but I cannot stand the people & the teachers. There are some teachers that are really sweet but there are some that leave you thinking how did they even get their degree? If you really want a good school with nice and understanding teachers &people I would say go to a different school like bay haven or surfside.

I am a student at breakfast point academy and its great! But they SEROUISLY have to stop treating us like little kids. The middle school does not get the privilege of walking to lunch by themselves or even sit where they want at lunch. They treat us the same as the K-5 and I've had enough. We need better lunch choices (stuff like Pizza Hut or chick-fil-a or something) You can ask any middle schooler and they will say the same. Also more elective choices would be great. We are no longer little kids and there is no way we will be prepared for highschool with this kind of treatment.

I am a student currently attending Breakfast Point Academy. (middle school) My experience at breakfast point has been better, compared to the other schools I have attended in the past, but I have had some terrible experiences as well. Not only am I a witness, but also a victim of bullying. Despite the number of times I have reported these incidents, the teachers and administration do not handle the situations correctly, IF they are handled at all. The school is terribly overcrowded. The principal likes to pick favorites and acts terribly fake. There are very few elective choices. BUT, the teachers are very devoted into teaching us and love their jobs and the school is well maintained and clean. Breakfast Point is an average school, with amazing qualities, but also a few problems as well.

I am a former student of BPA, and I went to the school for less than a month in December. This school was a very rude awakening to me. I went to a very small school before, living in a town with as many people as this school has. Unfortunately, this school did not even try to help me fit into the crowd. The classes were herded like sheep (I was in fifth grade) and you never got a chance to talk to other fifth graders, and moved from teacher to teacher with the same class. That was very stressful for me as I was constantly bullied by the kids in my class, and had no escape from them. I even reported it to the principle, me, an overweight fifth grader, and nothing was done about it. I also went in for other counts of bullying, like when a boy was stealing a girls food and making fun of her. I may sound like a "tattle tale", but that's not the case. The students were left to pick and prod at each other with no discipline. The school also did not have enough materials for me. I was forced to buy my own books and use an old Language Arts work booklet. It's been four years, and I am a now an honors student freshmen back at my old school. No uniforms at my old school too! Hallelujah!

terrible this school is terrible my teachers are terrible the technology class is terrible the concealers and principles the p.e. coaches are the worst they tell the students to lower there sports expectations terrible there is a terrible cafe for lunch and the schools students are THE WORST EVER I WAS punched in the arm by a bully for standing up to him so do not send child to school

This school is great if your child fits the cookie cutter mold of normal..I have a 3rd grader there and she does great. Wonderful teacher. If you have a special needs child such as Special Ed. Not very helpful or supported.

My children attended this school in its opening year. I sincerely hope it has improved since then. As for the parents who left 1 star reviews, I have to agree. I experienced the same problems with lack of communication from the principal and vice principal. My son's Kindergarten teacher was WONDERFUL! I could not be more pleased with the teacher's dedication and competence. My older son's teacher however, was not a credit to the school. I had numerous issues with the way the multi-grade classroom was run but all of my concerns were ignored and my son was blamed for the teacher's lack of ability. It was not a good year for my child. Since leaving that school, he has excelled. As for other reviews from parents that left less than stellar reviews: I can relate. For those that had better experiences, I'm very glad that some children did but I can assure you that parents who left honest reviews about real issues/problems are not to blame here or immature. Set blame where blame is due, not on honest and concerned parents with justifiable complaints about a far less than perfect institution. My children attended two other elementary schools in Bay Co. that, in my opinion, were superior.

We recently moved to Panama City Beach. I have 2 boys in kindergarten, one of whom has some learning delays. The staff at BPA is wonderful and has offered so much support. Both boys are thriving in their classrooms. I would recommend it for everyone. I now work for a different school in the area and opted to keep my boys at BPA .
