Just an awful school, please don't send your kid here. The teachers are awful, so is the staff. They talk down to students like they're very young little kids and the appeal of the school just isn't there anymore.

Overall, this school is fantastic and pushes my bright child like nothing we have ever experienced. It’s the projects and long term planning and commitment where this school really shines. Real world skills are being formed at a young age, and they’re able to see difficult, big tasks aren’t roadblocks in life! The “new” principal is turning things around & the PTA has grown back, stronger than ever!

Terrible school, they didn't take bullying seriously and let people get away with yelling racial slurs and other terrible things in front of staff

STEMM is a life changing school, a learning hub! My son was very fortunate to be accepted to STEMM. This is a school welcomes everyone, and treats everyone very well. Said that is not an easy school, you have to be very smart and study very hard. Amount of studying required to be successful is gruesome, even in the weekends kids have to study non stop. This tough tempo prepares students for not only high school, but to the university and life as well. They learn how to learn, how to study, how to be organized and push forward regardless of hard things are. When they graduate from STEMM they become unstoppable. A good school needs dedication from faculty, students as well as parents, which STEMM is known for. This school is for the future scientists, engineers, doctors, mathematicians, leaders, and it is not for everyone. There are so many STEMMM students get perfect scores from state exams, take so many advance classes this is a school for geniuses. Dr. Martin, the principle, the entire faculty, the entire stuff, the officer who protects children are amazing, supportive and friendly. If your kid is really smart and hard working you cannot find a better school in Florida (Probably in the entire USA as well).

STEMM is a great school! It is a place where students are accepted for their quirks and can find their tribe of people like them. The curriculum is rigorous, with students starting to earn high school credits in 6th grade. Math classes are accelerated, with all students skipping 6th grade math and taking Algebra in 7th grade and Geometry in 8th grade. The block schedule with 100 minute classes allows time for more hands-on projects and lab experiences which keep the classes interesting. STEMM is a place where kids with abilities in math or science will thrive and be challenged.

As a former student who has become aware of how students with disabilities should be treated I feel as though I must inform parents as well as students about their lack of equity and inclusiveness. I myself was treated unfairly and the county's human resources department agrees. I also witnessed students bulky other students for their orientation and watched a student of color and possibly of lower income being made to feel less than because his family couldn't afford the fleece jacket that was part of their dress code. It was a cold day and the student was wearing a plain jacket that wasn't STEMM colors or embroidered with the logo. Stemm continually tried to punish me for my disabilities despite being told by district employees as to what they were required to do In my opinion they wanted me gone because my parents were well versed in the law and the principal appeared to retaliate against me and my parents. Students and parents, please reconsider this school if there is an IEP in place. Students with limited means, try to find all your uniform items secondhand so you aren't called out and embarrassed in front of your classmates. Middle school can be tough, but don't let their test scores fool you.

This school's current principal was found to be discriminatory against a student with a disability per an investigation completed by the district. The state had to become involved in order to support the student and the parents The Florida Department of Education is also presently investigating the current principal. Teachers have confided in me that they are unsure how the principal still holds her position.

This school is very good for boosting your education, but I feel as if it has progressively gotten worse and worse with bad teachers and questionable decisions, such as installing spyware and disallowing Minecraft. There are also A TON of websites that are just blocked; Which wouldn't be a problem if 40% of the blocked websites weren't used for activities and actual learning. Some of those websites are required to be used for projects.

Homework:
There isn't much homework (at least in the classes I picked) and it REALLY depends on the teacher that gives it.

Teachers:
Some are cool, Some make you really sad, Some are mean, Some are helpful.

Character:
At first, there wasn't much stuff for building character, but they eventually enrolled in programs such as NJHS and Hope Squad.

Leadership:
Like I said, enrollment in programs such as Hope Squad and National Junior Honor Society can definitely help with building leadership skills within your child; But the school doesn't do much else other than the principal saying generic "Be a good person" quotes in the morning.

Learning Differences:
I honestly have not seen anybody at this school with disabilities like Autism, ADHD, or something else of the sort. Maybe it's intentional, maybe it's just sheer coincidence, but there's no data to rate the school on this section.

Bullying:
(like most schools) There isn't much of a response to bullying, like, yeah, of COURSE teachers have said not to bully other students, but I can't tell if there were actual reports of bullying, or a generic "Let's all be friends! :)" attitude from the teachers.

Of course, this is just my opinion, and I highly recommend that you do more research on the school, rather than just looking at 1 or 2 reviews.

ELA teachers are great. Science teachers aren’t very nice so I no longer enjoy science, especially after 8th grade last year. The school really focuses on winning science fair, but most kids there are smart so we usually did well at regionals and state science fair. Math was great in 6th and then it was just ‘ok.’

The students are pretty nice. Most girls at my elementary were rude, but not at Stemm. I found plenty of friends and the kids were respectful of the teachers.

Principal is nice, but the teachers pretty much run the school which was ok for me since I liked most of them. The school goes through principals pretty fast since they only hire the ones that are retiring in a few years.

The school is actually pretty great once science fair is over. My parents had to help me with algebra and geometry because we only have math class 2-3 times a week. Other than that it was good though. Our school did really well on testing.

Not very good. Too time consuming and depressing. It's even worse when you spend multiple hours on an assignment just to get a C on it and the teacher not giving any explanation why you got the grade.

So impressed with the high level of expectation on these kids! The teachers speak to them with such maturity, the work is challenging and the results are wonderful! The kids are very smart, yet they're also fun and act like kids. My son plays sports for the other local middle school and has really thrived here. If your child has high math scores, you should really consider this school as an alternative to the other middle schools. The local community businesses know the future leaders are HERE!

The OSA is an amazing school and offers an exceptional opportunity for students in Okaloosa County. My daughter was lucky enough to be invited as part of the first year group, and has been thriving ever since. Think robotics, math, science, aviation and top-notch teachers all around. If excepted, and your child is motivated, definitely enroll here.
