We have a child with disabilities and this school has been the worse experience for him. The only person that cares is Miss. Smiley but the counselor and principal totally neglected his needs, now because of the stress they have caused him he is homebound.

My child had trouble making friends. many of the students teased him and ignored his efforts to join in. He had many friends at his previous school in another county, but he found the students here to be less than friendly.

My child was teased on a daily basis. When I brought up my concern with his teachers they responded by saying that they never noticed it and did not offer any assurance that the situation would be monitored.

My child was struggling with several subjects. After meeting with teachers about all of my concerns (struggles with homework, spelling and low self esteem, poor grades, among other issues) they had no suggestions or advice. I could see that he could easily have fallen through the cracks. I had him evaluated by a child development specialist and he was diagnosed with dysgraphia as well as ADD. They were very surprised that non of his teachers picked up on any hint of a possible problem. He was so miserable at the end of the year so I agreed to homeschool him, as I have experience working with and teaching children with special needs. We were also disappointed that the students only have P.E. once a week and no Art.

My child is in 4th grade at Emma Love. I have found the atmosphere inviting and positive. My child has had wonderful teachers that are caring and challenge my child academically. The teachers and staff have always communicated effectively. My child had issues with a bully early in the school year. The issue was taken seriously and handled quickly. Overall I am very happy with Emma Love and am glad to have access to great public schools. My only problem is not with the school but all of the testing they are mandated to do. I would love to see less testing and let the teachers teach!
