My child has been bullied most of the year. The principle lies and says they will keep the kids separated then call me to get my child because the girls billing her won’t stop harassing her in class. The internet is always down so kids can’t do their work. This is a horrible school . I have tore to work with them yet they seem to now care. I can’t ever get a call back from the principal or her boss.

This school has more than 89 students and doesn't return students classwork so they can learn from their mistakes. Excused absences seem to be difficult to deal administratively so be sure to check every week. The 0's will affect your kids grades. Most teachers here seem like they care but...the school is a not for profit charter school run by a highly paid management group according to public financials. Classrooms are overcrowded portables. The uniforms and daily morning screening for drugs and weapons are a positive. Still...It's a poor short term alternative if your kid got caught in a zero tolerance situation. Would never voluntarily send my child or recommend this school. Do your research and go in with both eyes wide open. Encourage your child to make better decisions so they don't end up here. Unfortunately this is not a great environment any way you look at it ...but it can be a learning experience.

My child has done so well at this school it is astonishing!! I was very skeptical at first, especially when my child begged to stay there but as it turns out she was right. Most of the students there are good kids and do care about their future. It is not a "bad kid" school like everyone assumes, the teachers have the students best interests at heart and with the loving and supportive staff it makes for a wonderful learning environment. Not to mention the education there is great, because of the fact many of the students have failed and the class rooms are mixed they teach a lot more and at higher levels to get the students where they need to be. They also have the ability to promote students unlike any other SRC school and they also don't go by the standard SRC school district rules. If you want to keep your kid safe from bullying, harassment, and the other dangerous teenagers in public school I highly recommend this school. Yes, it may need a few adjustments but they have come a long way over the years and are strict on their students now. They have done a great job so far, keep it up!!! (:

We monitored my sons progress constantly, principle, jpo , self ,ect... to assure he was on track to graduate. He remained almost 2 weeks after school ended to ensure he had all his credits needed. Did accelerated PC corse and succesfuly completed all. Principle signed his report card and he was allowed to graduate. Not we are being told he does not have all his credits and his Diploma is NO GOOD anywhere. School Board is not backing the child. But is backing the teacher responsible for NOT entering his grade he earned. I would NEVER recomend this facility to anyone. A GED is at least something someone cannot invalidate. I am extremely dissatisfird. Exception Mr Shughart is a wonderful teacher.

Having first hand knowledge,, I must say the staff deals with at-risk-youth daily, and this presents many challenges. Almost all of the students have been kicked out of the district schools. It is my opinion that many of the students are basically good kids who made a mistake, and got caught up under zero tolerance laws. The teachers have little administrative support, a bus driver acts as the Dean, they hired an ex politician who is being investigated for misappropriation of taxpayers funds to run the school under a reorganization the school recently underwent. Most teachers do have the best interest of the kids at heart, however the staff needs strong support from parents. Parents need to encourage their children to behave appropriately, as that would negate any need for staff to yell at students to garner their attention; hence the staff is not dealing with angelic behavior! I would advise any parent who has a child that gets removed from public school to put their child in Florida Virtual School if you want to shield them from the challenging environment that is associated with the charter school environment if the school is enrolling primarily at-risk-youth.
