Unfortunate experience. Too much to write. Biggest issues were bullying, disparaging the parent, lies from staff, and looking the other way as mandated reporters. Seemed more focused on appearance and test scores. There were a few people who seemed to care . Only.

My children transitioned in from the lottery waitlist midyear. Their transition was challenging due to the high homework demands (especially math) and the use of different curriculum from Butler Elementary. We are pleased and feel fortunate that our children have the opportunity to attend a school as unique as Seaside Neighborhood School. You can't beat the low student to teacher ratio, unique elective choices, and high expectations of students to learn "The Seaside Way".

I have a child currently enrolled.
The school is great.
Intially the transition to the school was difficult for our child; however, the school administration and teachers were caring, available and very helpful without lowering standardsto help our child and us adjust.
It was not easy.
Now the child is meeting the challenges, growing and truly enjoying the experience at The Seaside School.

Me and a good friend of mine went here for 5th-8th grade and had a fantastic, engaging learning experience - at least throughout the first 3 years. It seems as if once you reach 8th grade they seem to neglect you and not care about your struggles (this is prevalent with not necessarily the teachers but the other staff, many of the teachers are fantastic and clearly care about their students). I thought it was particularly disgusting that the principal chose to not note a specific case of bullying that the aforementioned friend tried to talk to her about. He had dealt with name calling for years, and finally dug up the courage to tell the principal. She simply didn't take note of it, and finally my friend had had enough and gave a (quite tame, actually considering the things he was told in the past) remark to one of the people whom he had an issue with. Guess what? Instant response, the friend who was bullied and snapped is the one being punished now. The management also seems out of touch with social standards - obviously no one wants to be made fun of. Playful banter between friends is much different than full-fledged harassment and bullying and they do not seem to understand this fact.
That being said, education wise, it's hard to beat. Having teachers like Ms. Martin, who individually cares about the wellness of each and every one of her students and has the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met ALONG with her fantastic and fast-paced teaching skills, as well as Mr. Michie, who refuses to let anyone leave his classroom with a frown on their face.

Formerly, the school phone system offered an option to connect directly to the principal. She actually answered much of the time. If not, she responded promptly to messages left. Currently the only phone option is to the administrative office. The principal is rarely available to take calls, which are now screened. Return call requests go unheeded unless one leaves repeated messages. Quality of faculty generally remains outstanding, but for such a small school this deterioration in access to the principal is certainly not a positive step.

sns is the worst school i've ever been to. i went there for two years and couldn't take it anymore. most of the teachers are nice but there are about 3 that pick favorites every year and then bully the rest. the principal was a complete joke and did nothing. the Spanish teacher spent to much time smoking and showing us pictures of his "home land" to even teach us Spanish. i am warning all of you. STAY AWAY FROM SEASIDE NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL!
