My 8th grade son has been in Saint Mary School since k5. I also have a 6th grader and a 4th grader there who also started in K5. You could not possibly ask for more helpful, caring and understanding teachers than you will find at this school. Teachers that are there because they genuinely love being there for your family. The children are given opportunities there where they would not get at other schools. Best of all, your child will never be lost or forgotten in an endless system.

Both of my children attended St. Mary's and loved it! We are a military family and have very high school standards. We psc'd away for a couple of years and when we came back it felt like coming back to family. The teachers really know the children and give such personal attention to each one. Both of my children graduated from 8th grade at this school and easily transitioned to high school in all honor courses! The teachers really prepare the kids to excel well in high school. I enjoyed the fact that the St. Mary kids still supported each other in high school and always had each others backs. This school promotes self confidence and leadership in each of its students as they give the older students many opportunities to mentor the younger students. There are many sports offered and a great band/music program! Highly recommend!

I had sent my son to St. Mary's for only one year. They had given us a tour and showed us the computer lab, library...they didn't mention that for some of the grades the kids never get to go there. My son was never taken to the library or the computer lab during the whole year that he was enrolled in that school. I was also told that they take the kids on several fieldtrips during the year. My son went on only one fieldtrip at the end of the year. I think this was because they had several complaints that the kids had not even had one school fieldtrip. The teacher was so overwhelmed by all the kids that were in her class. My son had been evaluated by the speech teacher at the school and I had been told that my son was good to go with his speech. I had my son retested by the county and he was found to qualify for speech services. What a disappointment this school has been to my family and to my son. The school could always spell my son's name correctly when the bill was due or they wanted money. But in the school year book they had misspelled my son's first and last name in the year book.

Saint Mary School is a wonderful school. Being a military family we have experienced many different schools systems including private, public, and charter. Saint Mary's is by far the best school our children have ever attended. The staff and teachers truly care about the well being of their students and go above and beyond to teach and care for them. Our children enjoyed their years at Saint Mary's and we as parents enjoyed watching them grow in their faith and education. I highly recommend this school for any family looking for a high quality education for their child and an environment where they can feel safe and thrive in every area.

The school is a very good place to shelter your children. Most of the staff is caring and spiritual. One problem: this school will not prepare your child to be successful in math in high school. The grouping the school does is deceiving. The children in honors math, we were told, do well in math when they move on. But what about the majority? Problem two: Many middle school teachers focus too much on petty things. Problem 3: If your child struggles to read on their own in the early years. This is not the place for you.

I attended this school from 1961 to 1968. How is it possible that it took me 50 years, and a lifetime of travels all over the world, to realize what a positive influence the school had on my success in life? Back then, those nuns and priests instilled discipline and confidence in a small unruly boy. They gave me the tools to live a great and productive life. Thanks again!

St Mary's Catholic School, Fort Walton: Initially we had high hopes for this school as it appears to have an excellent star rating. The first year was very good, but unfortunately since the appointment of the new principal things seem to have deteriorated and we have seen a decline in teacher/parent communication. There is an element of bullying within the middle school which St Mary's have been unable to completely address. Disciplinary action has not always been dispensed with in a fair and balanced manner. Some teachers are slow to inform parents if a child is struggling in a subject making it difficult to catch up on grades so late in the year. The present principal needs to take control and oversee his teaching staff, some of whom tend to favor their 'A' students. If your child is struggling and has an IEP, this school is probably not for you.
