i graduated in 2019. i loved the friends i made there & a handful of teachers. DO NOT send your kids here unless youre a known name, your kid plays sports or you pour into that school (money). they failed me tremendously, failed me twice on purpose due to my learning disabilities, teachers pushed me away when i would go to a classroom that would be open for extra help after hours. my math teacher also said in front of EVERYONE that i would fail. & have to repeat my senior year. is she still there teaching? yes! i drove 45 minutes back & forth to go to school here, then drove another hour & a half to a tutor. also! tried to kick me out when i started a new medicine that hadnt been put in my file yet! sister & half the people in that office, including guidance did not care, if it wasnt for learning strategies, my parents & my tutor i wouldnt have graduated. do not waste your money! if i could give no stars i would!

Pensacola Catholic High is pricing out the average family. School choice? That's a joke. Sure, everyone can qualify for the state scholarship....but what they don't tell you is that the Catholic Schools have increased their tuition rates every single year well above the scholarship amount. My child is a senior at Catholic this year. We started out paying $70/mo (AFTER the scholarship) their freshman year. Now it is OVER 300 DOLLARS a month AFTER the scholarship. So where are we at now? Regular, average people are not going to be able to afford to send their kids here, meaning there is no school choice. Meaning, the rich families are just getting a nice discount from the state to send their kids to a school that they would have sent to the school anyway and paid full price for it. This isn't right. If a kid starts their freshman year, their tuition rates should be locked in for the duration of their time there. There are many kids who didn't return their senior year because they could no longer afford to go there. So they had to start over at a new school their senior years. This is wrong on so many levels. Not to mention the fact that you'd think that with paying for a so called "elite" private school education you'd be giving your kids to exceptional education opportunities....this is not so. They are so far behind when it comes to the educational opportunities they offer here. It's run the same way it was run in the 1990's. Honestly, many public schools in the area have more range and opportunities for enrichment and career tracts. Looking back on it, I regret sending my kid here and my youngest will not go to a Catholic School.

Catholic High needs to get with the times. It used to be the best school in the area, but now you can get a better and more diverse and well rounded education at many of the other public schools and charter schools that offer many different kinds of programs and classes geared toward what the student is actually interested in for their future. There is nothing like this offered at Catholic high. Additionally, the school touts its high percentage of students that go to college and graduate etc. What theyre not telling you is that the reason for this is because absolutely do not keep students enrolled who are struggling. If your kid has a low GPA they make you sign a contract that you understand your kid wont be accepted back if the grade doesnt come up. They dont offer remediation. So they toss out all the struggling kids so that their stats stay looking pretty.
One of the BIGGEST issues I have with this school is their attendance policy. Students are punished if they have more than 2 excused absences in a semester. Yes, even if they have COVID. Even if they have a doctors note, even if they were hospitalized and have medical records to prove it. If they miss more than 2 days they have to take exams even if they have an A in the class. This leads to students coming to school with high fever, flu, covid, etc. I know for an absolute fact that this happens. If a student misses 11 days in a semester, EVEN IF ITS EXCUSED WITH A DOCTORS NOTE, they fail the class and have to repeat it. Even if the kid was hospitalized and even if the kid makes up all the work and has an A in the class. This is absolutely ridiculous, unreasonable, inhumane, and just downright ignorant. I was told that they did this due to the high absentee rate that started about 4 years ago . Which lines up with the global pandemic that caused everyone to have to stay home if they had the sniffles. Ya think?! They really need to rethink this policy.
We have decided that unless things change at Catholic High, we will not be sending our younger children there in the future after what weve seen with our older children.

Im a senior at catholic and I can strongly say that I am glad my parents sent me here. The teachers are great and the overall enviroment at catholic is great. I wouldnt trade the last 4 years for anything.

The teachers give you homework most night without overdoing everything. It is also a lot easier to contact teachers away from school in the event you have questions about work.

With the exception of 2 or 3 teachers Ive had through 4 years at catholic, everyone has been very polite while being quality teachers.

While there are some very positive things about Catholic High, on the whole, I can't recommend it. I believe the the principal, while a caring and compassionate person, has been in the job too long. The majority of the administration has also been at the school for 10+ years. There is very little innovation. New ideas aren't encouraged. The cultural is "This is how we do things at CHS."

I am a student at Pensacola Catholic and I would like to say that this is by far the most amazing and helpful school I have Ever attended. As a student who attends mostly honors classes I do say that the teachers who have been here longer know what there doing and will get the student the best education. Whether or not the teachers are nice dosent matter its the education that matters and if you want to be treated better get out of our school or stop complaining about things that wont change. Sincerely, A student.

Fantastic school with caring faculty. Your child will be prepared for college when they graduate.

I agree with the post from 9/22/10. My sentiments exactly!! There are a few amazing teachers here, but there are many changes that could be made in this school.
