This review comes only after 6 years of watching our kids fight to stay above average. With a revolving door with English teachers and a poor work ethic, my review would go as far as D+ or C-. Students are told they are being taught to get ready for high school, yet the adults themselves fall far short of acting like even a middle school. Its is now (after covid) ok to rely mainly on the parents for extra work amd even credible study guides. Using computer programs and playing games. In no way are they doing anymore than what is required. Even as I write this, final exams were changed the day of and switched. How is this allowed. Kids studied for say history and math, come to school and find out they have been switched to English and science. Does this not give the opportunity to study? Please dont tell me to study all courses as at every level, students get the opportunity to know when a test is to be taken. This isnt a pop quiz, this is a final.

You can forget any syllabus or grades in a reasonable time. For an example or how the doubles standards are; Student A is given a zero for not tuning in work. This is normal. Yet the teacher did not tell student A that when he/she missed class they must do this specific make up work. To boot, the teacher can not run a professional syllabus? "Do as I say and not as i do?" Avalon middle with a 47%-51% reading proficiency is continuously going down hill and have come to use excuses without any change in behavior or action.

Sitting at a B rating is obviously skewed and doesnt say much when Florida ranks in the bottom 15% in the nation. Wake up America. Id love for teachers fo make more money and maybe that would help. The school boards or teachers are shooting themselves in the foot with laziness after the pandemic. Its hard to get a raise when your own performance is going down.

Performance based rasies should be implemented and be worth the work. We will be removing our kid from smthis school and if we must we will remove them from public schools. To be frank... this good Ole boy system and pretending that avalon middle is even on par with others like it, can be summed up by saying "bull".

My daughter has attended this school for the past 2 years and is now in her final year in 8th grade. I couldn't have ask for a better staff and teachers for my child. My daughter is engaged and does make a point to complete her work and tasks. But the staff has given her the confidence and voice to make sure she is doing well. There are very few teachers she has had any issues with. Normally if there is a problem, I will address and reach out to the teacher directly to understand more, this has never been an issue and teachers will reply usually early in the morning or at the end of the school day. I strongly believe each teacher at Avalon is there to help and make a difference.

Im now and 8th grader at Avalon Middle and in my 2 years i have been there, I've realized that Avalon isn't just a school……it's a family. The teachers treat you like their kids and the staff members are always there for you. Well what I'm bring to say isn that is you're looking for a good middle school, than Avalon is the way to go!

I really don't know cause some teachers give homework and some don't. And for the teachers that do give home work its different depending on what grade you're in.

Avalon treats the students lie their own kids, and are so helpful if you have a problem.

My son started here for 6th grade. On just the 3rd day of school, he was given an extreme punishment for simply picking up another child's backpack. Since then, he was "targeted" and automatically accused of being the troublemaker (without proof) in any given incidents. Without naming names, the authoritative administrator admitted to me that they harshly punish from the beginning to "set an example". How is a child suppose to thrive in such an environment?! He will definately not be attending 7th grade there.

My son has been at this school for going on his second year and he loves it! We had an issue with bullying in 6th grade and I was VERY impressed with how it was handled!!! Not only the teacher got involved but the guidance counselor also called and asked for a meeting with me! I couldn't ask for a better school! The band teacher is phenomenal too!!! He was so made for the job that he has and the love for it truly shows through his teaching!!
