More like a nursing home than a school

If my son could have stayed at that school, through all of his elementary and middle school education, I'd be as proud as ever. But this school equips educationally delayed or disabled children, with the tools they need to advance within the mainstream colloquial schools.

The teachers for this school like for the students to apply what they've learned, within their living and home environment. Hence, the parents are prompted in take-home exercises to interact with their children.

My son had been diagnosed with a learning, communication, and speech disability and general population (public) schools told me that he would never speak. So, he took to learning sign language well, and no speech therapy or vocal therapy was ever assigned to him in those institutions. He had some behavior issues that stemmed from his frustration with communicating with individuals who didn't speak sign language, and was assigned to Westgate. His teacher encouraged him to use his words, as he would often make attempts to vocalize. So, my son began to SPEAK, due to his learning opportunity at Westgate.

My son came to Westgate feeling broken, set-apart from others, as if there was no proper learning environment accepting of him. But after one year there, his confidence boomed, his personal character beamed and with his new-found acceptance, allowance of self bloomed. I will ever sing the praises of this wonderful school.

Within every school administration there are gaps, where going from meeting to meeting the ability to identify with their students' parents is labored or disconnected in some ways. But there is something going VERY right at Westgate, because their sensitivity to their parental support system is embraced and inclined in ear. Such cooperation with sympathy is greatly appreciated.

The foundation of this school is to take IN the children, that need a little extra help. Children with learning disabilities might not be at the top of the class all the time, but what this organization does is promote growth. Where most of the children that attend Westgate might not exactly fit in at regular schools, this school makes up with the progress the children make from their prior disconnected and lost attempts of the past at academia. My son is 11 now and he was redirected at Westgate to learn to read, perform in a classroom as a fellow-student, to be positive about his work load, and to encourage others. Such abilities do not simply appear in school, they are cultivated... taught... repeatedly established. My son reads at a second grade level... aloud and he is AT the proper age-level of math for his age range. He's a dynamo with any electronic you place in his hand and he's a happy, proud young man that we celebrate everyday.

Indeed, such behavior is watchfully and intensely not tolerated. Within every bunch there are the bad apples, but such behavior is instead treated with an intrusive view with a focus on the directives or attempts to figure out the reasoning of such behavior instead. The source of such problems usually stem from a pain within the children and the teachers at Westgate or particularly equipped with special means of alleviating those issues.

This school and the people who work here are like precious and priceless gemstones that I have discovered in the bedrock of my life! If there were a ten star rating, I would give it to them! D Americanhorse
