I have nieces which go to this school and are told they must wear gloves to cover up their henna/mendhi tattoos, which is done as a cultural ritual, they are not allowed to have hair dye, any piercings other than one ear piercing on each side, and there are other limitations based on grade. This is all I need to say and I understand that this is a Christian school but if a child is not a christian, then they should not be asked to become Christian.

As a former student, DO NOT GO HERE. I wasted 8 years of my life here. There are policies against being a homosexual or a trans person. Teachers would often talk bad about those people TO THEIR STUDENTS. They would influence the students to be just as hateful as them. Teachers would also try to promote their own views, such as abortion. In sixth grade, the history, science, and math teacher was trying to convince the girls in our class to never get an abortion. The same teacher also talked bad about a presidential candidate and tried to make the children's political views align with his own. The school is also insanely influenced by purity culture. Additionally, you would expect it to have religious aspects because its a Christian school, and it does. However, the religious aspect COMPLETELY takes over the actual educational aspect. "Bible" is a required class all throughout kindergarten and elementary. I think its also required in 7th-12th grade. Bible tests and quizzes are required, without an actual way to study for them. The school says to be Christian, which means it should include all the Christian denominations, but it's really more of a Baptist school. Teachers would often talk bad about Catholics and other religions. In conclusion, do not go here if you are a normal person and don't want to waste your time as a student or have your child's views influenced. I am speaking from experience here. Thank you.

I was once a student at this school and the effects are permanent. Do not send your children here.
They do not give extra testing time if you need it. I would fail cursive writing tests because I was taking my time to write neatly. My teacher hated this, and as a punishment my teacher would isolate me from children during lunchtime (the only time we were allowed to talk, aside from recess which I was also isolated for punishment) and as a result I have issues communicating at 17 years old. I have become awkward and socially anxious as a result. They will punish your kids for every reason they can find. I was punished for having glitter pens in my backpack. I was punished for not knowing where to go after I came back from harp class. I was punished for failing tests instead of getting helped. I was punished for picking my pencil up. They will traumatize your kid into being fearful of absolutely everything.

As a result of all this punishment, I need instructions repeated and every detail. I need peoples reassurance I'm following them correctly.

They had an extreme bullying issue when I was there. I was relentlessly bullied and choked and beat by other kids in my class, and my teachers would scold me for being afraid and not punish the kids. The teachers would listen to my bullies and get me in trouble for things I did not do (such as raising my pinky finger because I had a cut on it and needed a bandage, and they said I was raising the Chinese middle finger.)

They do not accommodate to the disabled. I had a flat-footed friend who was made to stand for hours, and the punishment for detention is constant writing even if your hands begin to hurt (stopping for even a minute meant more punishment). I have problems doing what I love (drawing) now because of the extreme pain in my hands from being forced to write for hours.

Do not send your kids here for the education, or any other reason. It will have a PERMANENT effect on your children.

very good school with very good staff, but if you want you're child to actually learn instead of intending a church dont go here. Another thing is that PCA wants students to write with pen and I dont think that is a good idea because, 1. the average person does mess up once or twice. 2. if they want to add or change something they cant, my childs teacher said do not use white out

I understand this is a Christian school and I expect religious involvement. However, if academics were prioritized more, I feel like students would be more successful. My student is struggling with completing their work and could really use extra time and help in the classroom but, with so much of their time being used to memorize scripture passages and repeat them over and over among other things, that is not an option. I could see morning prayer and a song. Maybe learn bible scriptures a couple days a week but every single day, utilizing valuable time to memorize and repeat scripture several times in small groups, seems like a gross misuse of their time. Especially when they're there to learn core curriculum in elementary school. Not become a pastor. Additionally, class sizes aren't as small as they should be for a private school. We spend all of this money to send our child to a private school and there seems to be a lot of things that could be done better. Yes, they have high attendance but how many of those families find the learning enviornment one that their child will be successful in? Many people choose to find a different school. If a child makes it to middle or high school, they tend to want to go to another school anyway. At that point, even they can recognize the problems that many of us parents see earlier in their school. At this point, we are also questioning if this is the best learning enviornment for our child. I have to spend so much of our "free" time every day helping with things that should have been addressed in the classroom that we barely have any time to be together outside of learning. It's exhausting to be my child's provider, parent, AND teacher because priorities in the classroom could be considerably better. There isn't enough individual attention in the classroom outside of reciting scripture. The school does feel overall safe and I love how positive and friendly the teachers are. I just wish they would spend more time on core cirriculum when it's needed. When everyone is doing quite well in the classroom, then you could spend more time on the extra bible studies. Otherwise, I feel that the attention should be placed where the students are struggling. If they alternatively spent as much time memorizing combination facts and spelling words as they do bible verses, I'm sure that success would result in better retention and appreciation from the parents.

The best school my kids have attended by far. You actually earn your grades and are not given As to get more public funding. My kids will come home from their public elementary school with A’s on papers that was not deserved.

They have a strong academic program, Discipline, zero tolerance policy for bullies and a fantastic sports/music program.

As a parent reading through the reviews, I would not take the negative reviews to heart. This is the first school where the teachers care enough to call you at 8 PM to help your child on a Sunday evening. It is a school teachers actually work from 7 AM to 5 PM instead of rushing out the door to get out by 2 o’clock and have summers off. I have never reached out to a teacher and not heard back on the same day. I used to send notes with my kids to public school and not hear back for weeks. It is a school that leads with the pledge and prayer in the morning and has true values. They are teaching the children about respect and accountability. The school holds children accountable, but their discipline is not over the top. My three children attend Elementary school and middle school, I could not be more thrilled to have them there. It is the first time where if you are a dedicated parent to your children’s education, you have a dedicated teacher that cares about your child’s progress. It is definitely not a school for parents that do not want to be involved or for children that lack basic discipline.

Most importantly, my three children love this school! They get upset with me if I pick them up early. They have loved everyone of their teachers and enjoy going to school every day. They have a great balance of fun in the classroom once they work is done. My kids love the music program, athletic program and after school. I don’t have to drop my kids off and worry about them being distracted by the typical things that go on in public school. I am a proud PCA Parent and Most importantly, feel fortunate of the other students who go to the school as I have seen nothing but kindness and respect for others. Bullies and children who are out of control are quickly dealt with in the classroom.

PCA is an excellent school academically and spiritually. I appreciate the focus on excellence not merely in a student's behavior and academics but in their hiring staff, from administrators and teachers, all the way to the many in support staff roles. Everyone there I have gotten to know, including Officer Perry, loves not just the student body but each child individually and is glad to be a part in helping each child feel loved and supported in achieving their very best, academically and spiritually, in their classes, as well as in extra-curricular opportunities such as in music and sports.

I am so appreciative of the importance placed on maintaining a safe and nurturing environment at school, by campus security, administrators, and teachers. It is so relieving to know that my children are in a place where they are and will be protected. This has been proven several times over the last five years we have had one or more of our children in attendance at PCA.

I am grateful for the wonderful educational foundation my children have received/are receiving in kindergarten and the early elementary grades. Phonics instruction utilized in the K-4 - 1st grade classrooms is based on time tested and proven traditional methods of teaching children the essential tools to learn not only how to read but how to read well for understanding and comprehension.

I also appreciate the traditional approach to teaching arithmetic. Both my kids are excelling in arithmetic in their grade levels, which is thrilling to me, as I well remember the muddled and often very murky understanding I had in elementary school as well as later on with regards to math. Seeing my kids gain a love and understanding for arithmetic through daily building upon what they have learned by adding to their knowledge is awesome. This school uses a traditional approach, daily teaching precept upon precept. And it works!

Another area I greatly appreciate that my children have benefited from is the spiritual applications their teachers have given them each day in Bible time. My daughter recently told me she was waiting to officially befriend someone she was wanting possibly to become friends with, because "we need to be careful who our friends are. God wants us to choose godly friends who will help encourage us to do right." Though I have attempted to teach similarly, it was her teacher who God used to teach and impart this wisdom. I am grateful for that reinforcement of things we are teaching our child.

This school is a huge waste of money and time. I did not choose this school for its Christian affiliation, I chose it for the EDUCATION. An education that I pay 265 dollars a month for. My daughter is falling behind the point that she was at when she finished first grade. We just moved here, so this is her first (and last) year attending Pensacola Christian Academy. We won't even be finishing the semester with the awful school. How dare they consider themselves one of the top schools in Pensacola when they won't even work with a concerned parent? I have mulled over whether or not I wanted to say something for months. I finally decided that I have had enough of the way this school is ran. If you are in the military like I am and you have no idea what school to put your children into when you move here, THIS IS NOT THE ONE. My daughter gets graded on how well she can recite a bible verse from memory, but they refuse to challenge her in math. The only thing good about this school is about half of the after school girls. This school stresses children out and then calls parents out of work when they get stress headaches. I have had enough. If this was a public school, it would be shut down.

The homework given seems redundant and unimportant. My daughter is in the second grade and her homework is to read three pages of a book (one I spent 17 dollars on) she could finish in a day. She has spelling homework once a week that includes words that she has known how to spell since she was four. The word "I" was on her first one.

Her teacher and I had a parent teacher meeting because I thought she was not being challenged enough. My daughter has been doing multiplication and division since halfway through last year (at a different school) and she started this year doing single digit addition and subtraction. I asked the teacher if she could alter the curriculum for my child and she told me she wasn't allowed. So I asked if she could go to a different classroom for math which was also met with a no. Her teacher told me that she would have had to test into a higher grade to go into those classrooms. So I asked if we could get her tested for a higher grade. No surprise, that was also met with a no. Essentially, I am paying 400 dollars (including afterschool care which is an entirely different issue) for my daughter to become stagnant in her education.

The teacher we had did not, she didn't even believe there was such a thing as ADHD. We explained to her on the first day our daughters issues. When we went to the parent teacher meeting, she told us that she has problems with talking and not focusing, getting out of her seat, ect. I said that is ADHD for ya and she responded with or it is just overexcitement. I got the very real impression she and the school did not believen in learning disabilities. She also said that she does not have time to help her in anyway when she has 30 kids in her class. She told us they have a help class after school..it lasts for 5 minutes and is a real joke.

The homework is to intense and fussy. My second grader had to do cursive writing at a certain degree angle and the tails of letters can only be half way down not acceptable any other way. Spelling word lists didn't seem to come from the parent purchased books. The math was way beyond a normal 2nd grade learning. Caused frustration.

Our daughters second grade teacher lacked the skills of a normal teacher. She didn't make an effort to help children when they asked for help, just sent them back to their seats with a just do the best you can statement (a child can't do that if they can't read or understand what the instructions are), whenever we talked with her , she only ever said was that she has 30 kids so she can't pay attention to each child, she also did not give them any physical activity to help with focus, they stayed pretty much in seats majority of day, when we tried to help her with suggestions on how to help our child she (which she asked for) she would complain once again to us about how many children she had ( what is the surprise, every public school teacher has 30 or more kids in their class, she should know this when she attended college to get a teaching degree), if for any reason your child needs extra help or may have issues with any kind of mental health, like ADHD, ect. they are not equiped to help them infact, I got the impression this teacher didn't believe in it, she said she may just be over excited but just didn't know what to do when she talked during seatwork time or got out of her seat alot, worse teacher ever!

New parent classes, teach the schools approach to effective student study, homework, and student time management for projects. Students seem to quickly pick up on their homework responsibility. Friends study together via various technology (facetime) for big tests. Students have opportunities for after school/before school tutors.

We moved to Pensacola with a high school student, and picked Pensacola Christian Academy for the traditional (Christian, patriotic) academic focus. The school facility is impressive, with nicely manicured landscaping, big shade trees, a building of architectural interest, spacious well-planned playgrounds, planned student drop-off flow with sheriff /security staff, a school interior that is noticeably clean, filtered air and well maintained. From the receptionist, the teachers, and school employees, a sense of cheery countenance and professionalism is apparent. The teachers are easy to communicate with, and the quarterly parent teacher conferences and assemblies (display of the current academic, sport, other awards and music programs), provide parents an opportunity to see the high standards of the school. Parents have open communication with teachers, and have learning opportunities, for understanding student study skills, curriculum testing, student science projects, etc. Tuition is affordable. There is an in-house drivers education class, tutoring, and private music lessons (some extras naturally have added nominal cost). The music program is impressive. Sport teams are available. The diverse demographics, give students an opportunity to become familiar with other backgrounds and cultures.
With little, to no student behavior disruptions, it seems that classes operate at a higher academic level. I understand personal electronic devices (distraction) are not allowed inside the classroom (to be left in hall locker), and secondary grades have digital textbooks, used on school issued I pads, as an option to textbooks. Lower grades learn math without reliance on a calculator, and cursive penmanship is taught. Grades are “earned” in a traditional manner. This school seems to value each students “gift” and “talent”, and not waste time and resources on current student labels.

While not all students are humble and modest, noticeable majorities have virtue, that, in time, affect students that have self focused tendencies.

In my opinion, every family in America should have the opportunity for their students to attend a school like PCA.

My wife and I love the fact that we are able to send our Children to a School, where the faculty are on the same page with our teachings, and the teachings of our church. We know that our children are always in a positive Christian environment at home, and at school as well.
We will recommend any parent who wants their child brought up with good strong Christian values to enroll their child in PCA!

My daughter has attended PCA for the past 3 years, and we love each and every one of her teachers. The teaching staff works hands on with the students. And have no problems contacting the parents for things that they can do to improve the learning atmosphere of the child at home which, in turn, will help them in school.

My daughter started PCA this year on 3rd grade and when I tell you DO NOT send your child here I mean it. I have had her teacher called me after 8pm during the week days to tell me how my child could improve by going to 7am tutoring. I am a working parent and relay in their bus transportation for my daughter to get to school. I keep telling her that, she was bothered by me saying this and seem to have been upset about it. My daughter came from MP and she was awesome there AB honor rolls, student of the week and student of the month. I believe PCA is a cult and NOT a Christian school they don't care. They want our kids to be perfectionist to the point of causing anxiety for them and us as parents. Homework every day and test every day of the week. I am responsible arent and have helped my daughter ALWAYS . I am just amazed of hiw this school and teachers try to make our kids sick of school period. They defenetly have favoritism d if you aren't light skinned you can tell they treat you different and what to say if you speak otjer language. I was told it isn't good for my daughter to be bilingual because that would put her behind other kids and her language development. I am ñroud to say my daughter is bulingual and can't wait to get her out of that school. I am waiting to transfer her right now...

Overall PCA is very good educationally wise, K4 and up the education is good. Once you start Jr. High every little thing you say or do, that's not within their very very strict standards, will get you in trouble, pretty much on the daily. Majority of the rules that they have been thought up for the Jr/ Sr high students are ridiculous. The "no touching the opposite sex" rule is absolutely the stupidest thing, even a simple high-five or hug from the opposite sex will have you sent to the office for this big ordeal, how it was such a sinful thing that you dared touch someone of the opposite sex. Another thing is the strict dress code that they expect especially out of the girls. I've been called out of class numerable times, whether it be skin higher than my knees were visible or skin lower than my collar bones were showing and the occasional "I can see a tiny piece of fabric from your bra strap". The faculty are decent sometimes, but they do choose their favorites and it's obvious. Out of the administration, the head dean of 7th-12th is probably the most hated person by students and parents alike. He will scrutinize you, trying to make him seem like the prime example of what a Christian living for God looks like. It even goes to the extremes, for grades 7th-12th they make you sign a "Standards of Conduct" which during enrollment at PCA you are to abide by the rules at school, at home, or elsewhere. At school I get you have to follow their rules, but them telling you what to do outside of school is a little over controlling. Another thing that a lot people got in trouble a lot within the past few years was social media. Without any type of permission or warrant they'll go through your phone if it is unlocked, if you're not paying my phone bill you have no right to go through it. Overall for a kindergarten and elementary school 100% recommend, but speaking as a high school student these are just some of the things you have to deal with to top off how high school is already stressful enough.

I have attended this school from K5-10th grade and my parents have finally let me and my little brother transfer out after realizing what was happening to us. I completely recommend the school for elementary because of the strong background it gives you to grow up in, however once middle school/high school hits, that is a totally different story. Being one who tries to make the best of situations and always stay positive, I can truly say I have never been exposed to an environment that has made me so unhappy before. So much negativity emanates from those halls. I'm very thankful for the great education it provided for us and the study habits I obtained in the process. I really love the music program because it provides many opportunities to grow and showcase your talent. I'll definitely miss the lunches and the very many friends I made along the way, but it pretty much ends right there. Most of the faculty can be super encouraging and friendly but probably only on a good day. Once in a while you'd get lucky and find a teacher who wasn't like the rest and was actually normal. There was never a day where I wouldn't get judged for the person that I am. I was constantly told that who I was as a person was not the right way to live, or everything I did in life was wrong. There was never a day where I didn't get in trouble for something tiny like drinking from my water bottle, saying "omygosh", or taking pictures with my guy friends. People would constantly get expelled for everyday life situations. My least favorite person was the dean. I've never met such a rude person in my entire life and one who completely degrades you in hopes of "making you a better person". The dress code is understandable... if you were a nun. The work load is extremely heavy and stresses a lot of the students out, me included. It got to the point in the beginning of my sophomore year where I was extremely depressed and had a mental breakdown like every other week. The rules are extremely specific and mostly unessential. I just hate how they try to control every bit of your life and expect you to be happy. Me and my friends would have to constantly bring each other up because of the daily struggles of being a student at PCA. It's already been a month out of there and I'm already a happier person. To my friends still there, I pray for you. Stay strong

I had one child attend PCA K5 and first grade and another attended K4. They are absolutely great in the very early years. They use Abeka to teach to read immediately, and write legible cursive. Jumping right in to reading and math helped in later years. Cons: My daughter had perfect cursive handwriting, but she was having trouble at later schools for not finishing work, because she was taking too much time worrying about absolute perfection, to the point of anxiety. I found out that she was taught at PCA that God doesn't like or care about little children that have bad handwriting, not perfect in school and in appearance, etc. She was also told she is not a Christian if she wears pants. Basically, it's run by Pensacola Christian College, a legalistic institution which places more emphasis on appearance, image, and culture than what's actually written in the Bible. They also seem to play favorites with kids whose parents are alumni of the academy or PCC, or members of the Campus Church. Escambia County school district is not great, so a lot of military personnel choose this inexpensive private school. They might want your tuition, but I don't believe they really want your kid there for very long. Be prepared for a lot of homework. Parents who do not have time to sit with their kid for hours a night are going to have a hard time with this school.

I attended this school from K4-12th grade. I was forced to attend by my parents until high school, and then chose to stay the remainder due to the music program. In Pensacola, the music program is much better than at other schools nearby.

Academics:

First problem in high school: AP classes are not offered, and dual enrollment is only allowed at the adjunct college, PCC (which is not even acredited). Students are not forced to take higher math, and there is no practiced for standardized testing.

Although several subject areas in the school are strong and have great teachers, the close-mindedness of the Christian curriculum can be severely limiting if you choose to attend a non-Christian college or university after. For example, the belief in evolution is prohibited. Special chapels were held often to enforce that those who believe in evolution are "against God" and that there is not enough evidence. Texts read in the English classes were also chosen and interpreted in a purely Christian view. I attended a recognized state college after this, and had to make many, many adjustments personally and intellectually due to the strict environment I experienced at this school.

Religious aspect:
This school practically forces its students to be Christians or pretend to believe in Christ. Bible classes are required every single day - and every single other religious denomination that exists was condemned, and declared to be completely wrong. This does NOT prepare students to succeed in a liberal environment after high school, or any environment for that matter. This institution (the school and college) is honestly an example of religious extremism. I was constantly scared of God's judgment and therefore "believed" in God.

It is so important to give students a well-rounded education in these years, and encourage critical, independent thinking skills. This school extremely prohibits personal growth because of the enforced, narrow views and highly strict system. The college.... is another story.

This school ultimately changed my religious views, and I have almost felt scarred by my experiences at this school. If faculty or students knew my beliefs or current lifestyle, I know I would be shunned and would not be shown "God's love" as they preach.

Do I agree with everything at PCA? No, but I can confidently say that there isn't a better a school out there and I love what they're doing. People can complain about the strictness answer structure all they want, but thoseems staff and faculty members care for those students tremendously! The curriculum is outstanding, and no one should be complaining about too much homework. There's far more "homework" in college, which PCA students are well-prepared for. Again, just may not agree wit has every tiny detail of the Academy, but it is by far the best school I have ever seen. Not just in Escambia County (that goes without saying), but from what I've experienced in other states as well. I am overly impressed with PCA!

If you want your high school student to be allowed to make informed, independent decisions, do not expect to be pleased with this school. They are closely affiliated with Pensacola Christian College. Because of this, they refuse to acknowledge any other college or university, severely limiting their seniors options when trying to decide where to further their education. Students should have access to information that will help them make well-informed decisions.

Well! As a former student whom now is a junior in college I actually have helpful advice for those considering this horrid but helpful school! 8 long years I attended Pensacola Christian Academy along with 4 of my siblings.
1st let's begin with the pros: PCA has yummy amazing lunch. Omg, the cause of me being an overweight minor. It was like a buffet at your parents expense lol. PCA also has an amazing curriculum! A Beka books is absolutely wonderful & i intend to start my future children off on this amazing curriculum. I was an Honor Roll student my whole life there & i must say had i started off in public school i wouldnt have been as academically successful. My 7th grade year I switched to public school and i was in shock! Such a horrid transition, escambia county public schools SUCK in every aspect. Besides West Florida High School (best high school in the county), where all PCA dropouts attend.
Okay, now the cons: Lets start out with the racism that coexists at this school. Im African American, & this school is the meaning of racism! Not all teachers are but the older ones ARE. If your child is black be prepared to fight for your children rights! Cant even count the countless times my parents had to come up there raising hell for our justice. My mother even had a racist book pulled from the curriculum. Around the 3rd grade please pull your children from this school and try another private institution! As a child I myself began to notice the foul ways of this academy. Between ALL OF THE HOURS WORTH OF HOMEWORK and parents staying up late trying to help, book reports, RESEARCH papers, detentions for no reason, it began to become TOO MUCH. They even made us sign contracts to not listen to gospel music! Entirely TOOOOOOO STRICT! The dress code, EVERYTHING GOT WORSE AND WORSE the older i became. Either you become brainwashed into a robot or you rebel , HARD & end up on the wrong path, as seen in some of the faculties children. On top of having to pick your child up from detention everyday or being called to come beat your children with a paddle FOR ANYTHING, parents were forced to pay FOR EVERY OVERPRICED THING. Paper fees, overpriced books, tuition, special papers, etc. All in all, after awhile i began to hate this school and rebelled like the majority of the older kids there.

Pros: They have a very organized school, very clean, a lunch program, bus service, music lessons, and a great structured curriculum. I love that they pray and teach the children from biblical principles. Bus driver was awesome and had open communication with me, very thankful for his communication.

Cons: Way too much homework, no communication between home and classroom. I felt very disconnected with the teacher. They have a very medieval way of communicating between school and parent, the principal for elementary is disorganized and sort of rude. Teacher to student ratio is way too big and my child struggled because they have nothing in place to help struggling students who may need more than just a little bit of extra help.

If you want a Christian school that has lower student to teacher ratios and better communication between school and home I highly recommend East Hill Christian School instead.

This school sends home so much homework I began to wonder if they were teaching or if I was the one who was doing the teaching. Loved the schools cleanliness and being organized and safe but even though education is very important being a kid is also important and had no extra time to be a kid just work work work. My child was scared to even raise their hand to ask questions and I don't feel that is a good learning environment. The teachers need to be more one on one for those that are struggling and actually teach not just stand in front of the class and point or write up detention slips.

Our son attended PCA from K5-4th grade. We had intentions of him continuing his education at PCA, but are moving this summer. PCA is a wonderful school and the teachers are very hands on and get to know their students. I loved that I was able to contact any of his teachers at any time if I had a question. The teachers and staff seem like they thoroughly enjoy their jobs and make everyone feel welcome. Throughout the years, I often received a phone call from a teacher not because my son misbehaved, but because they had a funny story to share of something he did or said that day. For a private school, it is very reasonably priced and considering how poor the public school system is in Escambia county, I highly recommend PCA to any student. They do enforce rules and order, but it only appears to be strict because there is a lack of discipline in most homes and schools today.

PCA has been overwhelmingly high speed for my 6 year old daughter who has attended PCA for the past three years. I am blown away how much influence the teachers have both in the classroom and at home, communication flows both ways. My daughter will be going into the second grade fall 2014, she has been learning from the Becka books! All her education revolves around the Lord. So this for our family is the best foundation. The only intimidation I have is that I am tapped out with math, homework is important, and I'm not so sure how much good I will be. My daughter loves her teachers and classmates, she is free as a little bird to be herself. Pensacola Christian Academy is our top pick - as long as we can afford to send her we are also saving for her college through Pensacola Christian College. They have a very high standard for education. Very organized loving academy.

2nd grade not happy..My child went to this school for 1st and 2nd, His 1st year I could tell that he was tired after school as he would fall asleep in the car before we got home..That was fine because as time went on I could see how they helped in molding and assisting with normal behaviors like obedience and meal manners. The 1st grade teacher was awesome and very helpful. However, the 2nd grade teacher acted like a robot and showed no interest in helping me or my child with some of the trouble areas we began to have in math. She would just smile blink. Also the strictness was starting to irritate me because with my child struggling in core subjects I like to go and sit in the class to have a more hands on approach with him...but not a PCA...thats almost like a joke question to them. So, besides helping him at home as much as I could, I felt like it was a useless waste of my money so he finished that grade and started all over in 2nd grade at a public school making A B honor roll. Even though I left, I wish it would have been different, even though he failed I feel if the teacher was more supportive I prob would have stayed because I like the christian background.

PCA is the greatest Christian school in the world. The education is amazing as everyone knows. There's a reason why PCA graduates generally excel in life. The greatest thing however is how much the teachers care for you. They will bend over backwards to talk to a student if they come to them for help. They pray for their students unceasingly and love them. PCA changed my life for the best. As someone that wants to serve God with all my heart, the standards at PCA are awesome. It's all about perspective. The standards are there to protect, not restrict. Children and teenagers need to be taught discipline while they are young, or they will never learn it as adults. PCA provides the loving discipline and learning atmosphere that kids need to grow and become the men and women God want them to be. That's what education is all about.

I have been going to PCA for a year,and the school is ok.The school is very safe,and clean. One problem with the school is that they are too strict.It takes me hours to complete my homework.One time I missed a day,and I wasn't sick(though I did have reason to not be there)They gave me 0's for the whole day.My brother wasn't there that day either they gave him 0's and detention for two days!My parents were very angry about that.I plan on not going here next year.

I absolutely love my school. Yes, it is strict compared to most schools, but you're going to have rules all of your life that you may not agree with so you may as well get used to it. The academics are phenomenal here as well. The teachers go beyond reading from a book and actually teach and make the classes interesting. I would most definitely never change schools. God has really blessed PCA, and I'm proud to be a student here.

My kids love this school and they love their teachers. Very friendly, caring, safe environment. The curriculum is so much more advanced than public school. It is strict, but that's fine with me. PCA is very clear on their policies and beliefs. If you don't like it, good luck in Pensacola's public school system because it's terrible.

If it was possible i wouldnt even give them a star! they are rediculous they would call me for every tiny problem they had it was rediculous. They kept making statements like we have to "train" your child to do what we want.. and the whole time I'm thinking.!!!??? TRAIN! he is a CHILD not a dog! I pulled him out after 2 months of being there!

I see reviews saying that PCA will teach good values but the thing is when I was there the high school student body was rather "wordly" as some would say. This to me plays an important part in a school. Just because the teachers teach such things on which is doesn't seem they do, but the student body influences others as well. The student body will influence your children, I find few to stick with that will encourage me.

The facility is lovely. The closed minds are not . I wish the teachers were taught to teach rather than follow a TE which teaches to the middle. My child was told to stop answering so many questions because the other students had not learned what he had. That really killed his spirit. I have been disappointed since he came home with this news. Being new to the area, we didn't know where to turn for a middle school. We are desperately seeking a better choice.

This is the first year I have homeschooled my daughter who is in 6th grade. We are using the DVD's because we live out-of-state. She went to a Christian school which prided itself on the 'advanced curriculum', and she got straight A's. However, it was a surprise to see how behind she is in a few areas compared to the class on the DVD's! We are working on catching up and we are really appreciating the solid Christian values being taught here and the excellent program. She would not want to attend the school, due to it's policy on dress (she and I are not dress wearers), so God directed us to the DVD's:) After all, God does not look at the outward appearance. Thank you Jesus!

This is, in my opinion, the best school in Pensacola. After dealing with the public schools where my high schooler attends I decided to send my 2 younger children to PCA. Best decision! Teachers are very caring and there is lots of communication with parents. It is strict, but kids need that these days and I have no complaints. I love this school and so do my kids. We are blessed to be able to send them there.

This is the best school that any of my children have attended and we have been in many places. My daughters have been there from K4 on up. I cannot be more pleased. I don't know what people mean about no parental involvement, there is plenty. PTMs, telephone communications, assemblies, homework, and more. School is the child's "work place" and teachers are doing all they can to make it a great one, why would parents want to be there? Complaints about strictness is strange, that is why it is a good school, students know what is expected, they know the responsibility is theirs, yeah! Imagine, teachers want the children to get to school early so they can give them extra help! Our lives are filled with rules so our children are learning rules, nothing wrong with that. Love this school! Can't make a better choice.

Overall, the curriculum is solid. The facility is clean, safe and modern. Also, the price is great. My primary issues are lack of parental involvement and the enforcement of ridiculous rules. First, I have to comment on the mother who home schools (March 1, 2011): Your comments regarding parental involvement are not applicable to you. Our children attended another Christian school where parental involvement was strongly encouraged. That didn't mean parents "had" to volunteer; it was an option. Parents felt welcome, involved, and the children loved it! Also, PCA doesn't keep parents informed, but rather places the entire burden on children, which causes unnecessary stress and errors. When my child forgets a book or an assignment, we can't go back into the school. If a mistake is made, then the child gets a green slip or goes to detention. Relaxing silly rules would help; electronic technology could help. For example, teachers could use web-based technology to post homework assignments, upcoming projects, and communicate with parents. PCA s fundamental thinking has its benefits, but it definitely impedes progress and improvements, which is why the school is good, but not great.

I have read through all the reviews. The one common thread of complaint is the lack of parent involvement. Really? I don't understand paying tuition for your children and then wanting to have to donate your time as well. I would think you'd be grateful to get what you paid for. We use the Abeka DVD program in our homeschool. Because I oversee my child, I have more than enough parent involvement. I am mostly very satisfied with the curriculum and the teachers; however, I do think the math curriculum is weak for the college-bound math & science majors. It is unfortunate that PCA does not offer AP classes for their talented students. PCA also should include the use of various types of technologies at the high school level. These would include the Microsoft Office suite of applications, online reseach tools, and graphing calculators. Although I am from the hand-written note card generation of writing papers, NoodleTools is a much more efficient way to accomplish that task. I thank God everyday that I am able to homeschool my child with this outstanding curriculum.

I'm a student there and I would not want to be anywhere else. It is a great, safe environment where to learn. The teachers are great and are there because they want to teach not just get paid. They teach you great Christian values that prepare you for life. You have the opportunity to meet good Christian friends. It is a great school for anyone. For anyone not wanting to come here because they are worried about not having fun, you are so wrong, I have had more fun there than anywhere else (okay maybe Six Flags or Cedar Point beat it out, but that's understandable). I have been there since K-4 and am now a junior in high school and fully intend on finishing my education there as well as attend PCC. God is greatly using this establishment.
