The only thing we liked was the curriculum. Issues contacting and getting answers most responses were just copy and paste links often nothing to do with the questions. Incorrect grading answers that were right but marked incorrect with teacher comments that didnt match anything in the lesson pretty sure they are grading with chatgtp. Self paced learning is really restrictive. We finished all our courses in 8 weeks and essentially our transcripts are being held hostage for 3 more months until we have paid enough. I would not recommend.

This is our sons 2nd year with The Ogburn School, he can work at his own pace and his success Coaches are there anytime we need them. They check in with us from time to time to let us know where our son is and what he needs to do to finish. Just a great fit for our sons needs.

I cant say enough about The Ogburn School. The courses were in depth, well rounded and engaging. My high school student excelled in all of the course work and there was always help when needed. I strongly recommend!

This school is not good. We went through alot of issues from technical problems to non stop admin and staff issues. They do not get back to you like other schools we have used. No teacher student support and they are sure to blame the kids and parents for there shortcomings..the most amazing this about these people is how high and mighty they act..

I was a little worried about enrolling my son after reading some of the reviews here, but I called for more information. The guy I spoke with said that they have added a "messaging" option to the online portal the students use, to make it easier to get help from teachers (compared to doing it through an email), and that has helped the support process. For us, this school has been great. My son likes working from home and said it's less stressful. When help is needed by him (or me) we can send a message through the portal and usually get a response within a day or so. His grades are better, the anxiety is better and we don't fight in the morning to get him to go to school. I would recommend this school but would let parents know that most of the support is done with the message system and not over the phone and that it takes a day or two for the teachers to reply. I don't have an issue with the wait time, nor does my son. So, we are thankful for Ogburn!

I wish I didnt have to give any stars! The work is way above grade level for students.
Although you can work at your own pace, theres little to no help available with questions while working on assessments. Meaning, your kiddos has to stop working and wait for an answer.
There are many discrepancies with the lessons and many of the questions are not clearly written and they mark correct answers wrong!
You cant get a hold of anyone at the admin level! Ive been emailing the same questions and everyone skirts around the question.
I was Informed upon enrollment that they would follow and IEP! However, when I ask About it, the instructors state they dont need to follow an IEP and to contact admin. Who dont answer!

I started this school as a freshman (9th grade) and I really wish I knew what I was getting myself into. Immediately as I started it was very pricey and as soon as I logged in my account I didnt have any guidance what so ever. I understand your parent/guardians are supposed to help but they didnt know anything more than I did. I really liked that it was a self paced school because I am a Type 1 Diabetic so I needed something that wouldnt interfere with my schedule and it didnt, but as the school year continued I realized that they dont want to help which is why they call it self paced. Another thing is they dont even reach out and ask you directly if you need help or anything similar. I understand its a big program but if you expect students to succeed you have to be there with them to help and not solely rely on just the parents. I mean I basically taunt myself everything. The Algebra 1 course was extremely confusing and on the MAP assessment they said what you learned in the courses is what will be on the assessment and that is 100% false. What was on the assessment was the kind of math I did in 8th grade. I am now trying to request transcripts and we couldnt even reach them to request them. The end of the year MAP test is basically $50 which is ridiculous considering it is required. Oh, and I paid $3000 for a whole year of school which in the beginning they said it would only be $2000-$2500. Before I took my MAP assessment, we called the number to confirm that I was unregistered from the school and told them that I wouldnt be continuing this year (because the school is stupid) and the lady that answered tried to tell me that if I wasnt staying at the school, then I didnt have to take the MAP assessment which was clearly wrong because on the website, it tells you in order to be promoted to the next grade level this test is required and any other school you go to an end-of-the-year assessment is required, so the staff is very unhelpful and that woman didnt know what she was talking about. Overall, it was a really horrible experience and I dont recommend the school to anybody. Its a waste of money and you dont learn anything helpful. I really wish my family knew this before we spent all that money on it and I really hope I can get my transcripts in time to transfer to a different school. I will be sophomore in august and I fear what I learned will not be enough for me to be able to pass 10th grade.

Honestly, this communication at this school is awful if you your student is enrolled online. You get no assistance in the message center and when someone finally does respond, they're rude. I have requested assistance in a timely manner each time my student has been kicked out of live session or the live session didn't work for her, only for someone to respond several minutes later making it seems as though it's her own fault. I definitely thought that enrolling my child here was a great idea in the beginning, but I am finding out in the end that I made a great mistake. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

I HATE this school. This is the worst school Ive ever been to bro (this is a real review) this school is pricey and the price doesnt match the skill the teachers dont even know how to fix their typos or how to give the proper help with assignments . The timing is horrible all the school does is give you a lot of assaignment and tell you that you have to finish them before the school year ends there is no form what so ever of hard work not challenging at all and Ive done 2 years of this school(BY FORCE) and I hate it sooo much the work is very easy to cheat on and the live session are horrible you cant even speak directly to your teacher on the live session untill the end of the live session and you have to type it and by then you would forget everything you had a question on. And they grade your work maddd slow literally this is a terrible school and its worst than the online public schools that would cost$375 for the ENTIRE YEAR INCLUDING MAP

This online program is horrible and should not be accredited. I was told the teachers are all full-time employees and compensated well. It doesn't appear so when the teachers are grading at 2-5am EST. When a student asks for help, the responses are not helpful nor are they timely. There is not
'teaching' from the teachers. They will not work with parents nor students when issues are raised. The curriculum for Reading and History were very disturbing...not culturally appropriate nor accurate. Our child has dyslexia and no accommodations were offered and even when we gave suggestions to help his learning, they declined. If your child has any learning difficulties or attention issues, this is NOT the program to help them. We can't even get them to release our transcript so that we can enroll elsewhere. Unethical behavior toward families in my opinion.

This school has horrible staff because you cant get them to respond to you for needs of the child attending. You send emails and make calls and they just dont respond. If I hadnt paid in advance for the year I would pull my child out of the school and send them to local public schools. The new problem would be getting the transcripts from the school. I dont recommend this school to anyone for that reason.

This school has really bad customer service. I graduated 2020 and my diploma wasnt notarized nor apostille. So since I need that for my college I have been contacting and it is really slow responding like if I dont have a deadline. I did mention my deadline time and was told it would take up to 4 weeks for me to get it. It has been TWO MONTHS and I havent gotten it nor have heard anything.

The website is not good at all. It's a clunky mess to the eyes. No good features. One of the biggest problems is when you Submit the assignment. There are multiple times when you click Submit assignment to turn in your work, and it ends up bringing you to the Login screen. If this happens, not only you didn't turn in the work, but you have to start ALL OVER AGAIN! This is not good at all! And why isn't there a program or class for kids with special needs? Come on now. This is quite pathetic.

The Ogburn School provided a great program for both of my daughters. My oldest graduated and is not in her third year of college working toward a degree in Elementary Education. My youngest is now in the 7th grade (she started Ogburn in 6th) and is doing very well. The teachers were there for support when needed, the girls just fill out a form for help that is in their online account and the teachers followed up. Much quicker than the virtual program thru the public school. For us, it has been a great experience. The self-paced program may not work for all kids, but it was a big help for mine.

Nope, no more Ogburn school, Ogburn school is the worst school on this planet, if not universe, they don't do good, like when I message them through Gmail, they won't answer, and if your looking for a school to go to, I Highly Suggest that you Don't go to This School and go to another one.

This is just my experience with this school, and I learn the best by being tested on my knowledge of things. I was able to finish Ogburn School in 3 months. The whole school year in 3 months. I learned barely anything. There are no tests or quizzes except for the "Final Review" at the end of the Geometry course. I am in 9th-grade mind you. There are barely any explanations for the math and the videos are barely passing the 3 minutes mark. I did barely an hour of school a day. It wasn't structured enough for me. Plus, there were many typos in the lessons and all of the English lessons had nothing to do with reading at all. I would not recommend this to anyone and I am about to start the Accelerate Online school for my actual education since I didn't learn anything with Ogburn.

Is very confusing. They told me I needed to pay $995 for a year then when I called to re-register they told me that was the payment for 1 month. Then I asked for their regular scheduel for 11th grade and they said I cannot see it until I pay. The problem was I paid for only PE, Life Management and Geometry 995 for a period of 4 months .. I cannot just pay 1495 this time without knowing they actually have a curriculum. They dont answer yoru emails .. probably as they are signing too many kids online due to covid.

The curriculum Ogburn had guaranteed me was not what was promised. The grading process is awfully slow and there are multiple typos on lessons. A lot of the lessons can easily be found on the internet, most of which arent developed by Ogburn. Little to no feedback is provided on assignments. The live sessions, which are mandatory, are set at inflexible times, making them very challenging to attend. There is no choice but to attend them at the scheduled times. Its not easy to communicate and get a hold of teachers as responses can take up to several days. A lot of the courses start at a decent level, but as you progress more and more is expected. This can become very overwhelming. The reading course expectations were unrealistic for my grade level. In the course, I was bombarded with all of the difficult and time-consuming assignments at the very end. In conclusion, I would not recommend Ogburn. The cons outweigh the pros.

The fact that it is self paced has helped my daughter a lot. She has ADHD and she can take breaks when needed. Also, no other loud kids in a classroom.

We have enjoyed it so far. My daughter is finishing up her second year here and is doing very well. Sometimes it is a little more reading than she likes, but the overall program seems good for her. Her grades are up and she is not dealing with some of the social stuff she had to go through in regular school. There is not a lot of "bells and whistles" but they provide everything the student needs, and for the price, it is the best one our there.

They seem to encourage my daughter to do well, like if she fails something, she has a chance to redo it. Also, the Live Sessions give her interaction with the teacher and it seems like all the kids are respectful.

It's hard to get a hold of the teachers to ask questions on assignments that are written poorly to begin with. When I didn't get a response over email and called, one teacher in particular would not let me talk. This teacher acted annoyed that she had to speak with me over the phone, didn't listen to what I had to say and talked down to me like I was stupid. Will not be using this school next year.

I wanted a school that would help my daughter achieve academic success in an intellectually challenging environment, transition smoothly to university, and feel positive about her achievements. Ogburn provided all of that and they provided documentation and support to make the transition to university very smooth.

My daughter felt that there was good interaction between faculty and students in both the live sessions and through e-mail when she had specific questions regarding assignments. Toward the end of courses, a lot of students piled into some of the popular live sessions and the instructors maintained presentation and student focus.

We felt that Ogburn set a high level of expectation from day one - with their expectation that a parent would attend and complete the orientation session and assessment along with their child. This was a stronger component than what we experienced at a brick and mortar school - particularly in that with Ogburn, a parent was required to complete an orientation assessment. From day one, we really had an opportunity to show our daughter how important her education was to us - and how important she was to the people at Ogburn.

I was generally impressed with everyone we worked with regarding financial aspects, curriculum, and cohesion of programs between our county of residence HS diploma requirements and program choices at Ogburn. But after my daughter graduated, Ogburn became even more impressive. Their records response time and support by phone, e-mail, fax has been amazing. My daughter received scholarships and communication between our county and Ogburn was smooth/seamless - graduation requirements fulfilled, records completed, and my daughter transitioned smoothly into university.

The Director of the online program are deceptive. They advised me to let my son complete the online education and to receive his diploma through Ogburn School which would include a Regular Education Diploma, instead submitting his final grades from them to my local board of education to get his Diploma and final credits from Shelby county Home School Program as I had been doing for the past two years. Now, I don't know what to do with a whole year gone, and he still has not received his diploma. Not only is he late receiving his diploma, but now will seem as if he failed the twelve grade. I want this school to rectify this problem and issue my son his Regular Education Diploma as promised, or refund every penny of my money.

Below average due to not keeping the curriculum promised my son and I for a regular diploma from the school on line. When my son completed his final assignments and completed the two Capstone requirements that actually included the "Live Sessions" for tutorial needs that were at first mentioned by the female head director and her husband as "Optional."
Once enrolled in this program, my son was trying to graduate in August 2017, and was given a lot of last minute heavy heavy loads of work before he could graduate. I accepted that, since the school stated he had a time line to complete the final assignments including the two Capstones by Oct. 2017. He completed everything burning midnight oil and working overtime to complete and submit his final assignments. Teachers complained that they could not retrieve some of his "final assignments" via the zip disk he used to send all of them. So, he resubmitted the remaining assignments no later then the 5th of October 2017, before it permanently closed. We assumed the assignments were being graded and his diploma would be coming in the mail in the next six weeks. So, when six weeks came and no diploma, I called and was told to sent $50 dollars. I received a email from the head female director or his wife that run the online school, and was told he still had extra assignments they had added to his curriculum and that he had to complete these as well before he could graduate. I complained to her in the returned email, that not only were we waiting for more than six weeks expecting his diploma; But, that it was so rude of the school to not even say anything to me or reach out to us. I had to call after the portal closed to inquire about my son's diploma and assignments six weeks later. My son just wants his Regular Education Diploma so he can continue on to college. This school is a scam, due to it trying to force students and parents to stay in the portal so they can continue collecting fees from them. An Investigative Probe needs to be done on this school to see how many online students from various ethnic backgrounds, are being forced to continue through the school's portal just to pay extra money so they can obtain their diplomas.

First the work starts off manageable for the student. Then, without receiving any help unless it's when the Live Sessions are scheduled to view, can a student receive any help with assignments. All help is around the "Live Sessions" when they are scheduled.

FYI......There are several different options for tuition. There is even a month to month. Do not believe it when someone tells you that you are forced to pay it all up front.
Grade lag time does occur during holidays or if you hold off on doing your work. We put off just about all of December, our fault, and waited to get some grades in. Food for thought, assignments are graded as they come in to the teachers.
Communication with staff has never been an issue. I usually get a response same day, depending when i submit it.....they do go home and have a life, or the very next day.

I imagine they try. Its hard with an online school. I'm familiar with the special ed department in a public school setting. This is a private online school. There is little they can provide really other than lesson help and extra time. They don't have remedial classes or therapists like in public school.

Children don't have contact with each other. The only time they interact with each other is through a live session they have and all they see is each other's comments. If a student gets out of hand or says something rude, their is a room monitor that will bump them out of the room while the teacher continues with their presentation.

Requires honesty for sure. They are not playing around when they mention 'academic integrity'. Plagiarism isn't tolerated and your child will certainly find out what it means if they get caught. Kids sometimes don't do it on purpose, it takes a bit to get the hang of research and then putting in their own words. But the school has always given a 2nd chance to submit and make up for it on our experience.

They have a leadership team that is listed by name on the first couple of pages on the student handbook and the positions they hold. I've talked to several of them before and emailed as well and they are knowledgable and helpful.

We've been with them for 4 years now and love it. Busy times of year, there can be a delay in response time. Understandable. They provide a lot of material to read in Orientation and if you take the time to really read through it, it answers most of your questions. If it doesn't they answer their emails and clarify anything I've ever asked. My kids really enjoy the freedom of learning at home and we have no problems with this school. Overall, a great school and is very affordable.

Doing school work online eliminates the extra after typical school hours of evenings spent on homework. They provide a pacing guide and a easy to follow formula for calculating how many lessons should be done each week. If you get off track, you just re-do the calculation.

Its different than regular school and you have to be prepared for that. They have a help email and message center for questions or help with lessons. Usually get a response within 24 hours which isn't bad. We just move on to a different subject until we hear back on what we need help with.

I can see why they force you to pay up front and give you 14 days to make a different decision. You cannot see all the issues in those 14 days. There is a slow response time from the one teacher and little to no feedback on assignments. There are errors on tests and grammar issues in lessons. Don't bother to point those out because you will not receive a response. Most assignments are online so they didn't even develop their own lessons. Definitely not worth it!

I have three high school children attending Ogburn currently. Two have attended Ogburn for a couple of years and one has just completed this semester only. My daughters who have been schooling at Ogburn for multiple years have done exceptionally well on the PSAT and I feel are well positioned for college due to the curriculum and supports they receive. The program is very easy to follow, the leadership is very supportive, and the classes are easy to access and follow. I recommend this frequently to parents with children struggling in "traditional" learning environments.

My daughter struggled in traditional schooling in Texas. Ogburn helped her build her self esteem and she excelled in all her classes - completing them at HER pace - not the pace of her classroom peers. We were very happy with the program and the support from the school!
