Our family loves Glynn Academy. Rich in history, this is a downtown school (gated) and has the feel of a college campus. Teachers will push and encourage your child beyond their comfort zone. They are quick to offer college referrals and really prepare your child to hit college running. They really go beyond what is expected from teachers and invest in your children. Sports and team spirit play a huge role at GA. Terrors Football has produced some college & NFL level players. In addition, Terrors baseball is home to Adam Wainwright (pitcher for St. Louis Cardinals). Tennis, Golf, Volleyball, Softball, Sailing, Theater etc. They have something for everyone. GA is home to the Pride of the Golden Isles Band, who have won many Champion titles in marching band competitions. As a parent, there may be some kinks - well nothing is perfect and this is a big learning age - but two of my daughters have attended here as will my youngest when the time comes. I highly recommend Glynn Academy! GO TERRORS!!

It has been a nightmare as a parent, and my children - who are honors students - are treated like criminals by the administration.

Facilities are sub-par. Over-achieving students are bullied for wanting to learn. No one cares about actually gaining knowledge. Many students are unruly. It is a school in an area where no one cares about bettering themselves or the community. I graduated from GA with a 4.1 and a 30 ACT, and because it was such a bad school, it was still a struggle for me to get into my public state University. The only thing holding it up are the kids coming from the island.

It's at BOTH schools. From what I've heard, you don't even get this much homework in college.

I am currently a sophomore (class of 2018) at GA who has also been to BHS.

As a freshman at the other school, I have had a middle school-like experience there (in other words, it was beyond anything I would have imagined and it hurt me severly). I will post a review for BHS as well.

I have a few friends who I already know as well as NEW friends over there and I am having the best academic experience of my life right now! Because the campus is split up into different buildings, it creates a college-like atmosphere. You are allowed to eat lunch anywhere (except in the media center) and hats, bandanas, and the like are allowed (upon teacher discretion). This makes an average school day feel really laid back.

The students there are nice, and I have not come even close to being disrespected. In fact, I am actually liked a lot at that school!

If you don't like the teachers at BHS, they are exactly the same at GA. Don't expect there to be better teachers. They all follow the same (poorly written) education system.

Overall, Glynn Academy is going really well for me. I have a lot of faith in this school (more than any school I've been to). If you are a parent, then you should consider enlisting your child in this school; the island kids are not snobby, as far as I'm concerned. You will be glad you went to this school! It has a great history and vibe. You will not be teased whatsoever for being "different" (I don't guarantee this, though--no school is perfect.)

I went to Glynn Academy for all four years of high school, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The academics are above average, there are several after-school activities and clubs that students can join, and there is plenty of opportunity to explore other cultures and ideas. The only downside to the school, is the campus itself. While it has a beautiful, historic campus, it seems to be more geared toward a college campus with it's vast acreage. This coupled with random locker locations throughout, makes for a lot of walking to go get books/notebooks for each class, unless you are willing to carry 50-75 pounds on your back. Overall, I will be happy to send my two girls to GAHS in a few short years, and you should be too.

Glynn Academy is a joke. All we do in class is sit around listening to teachers repeat themselves because they assume we do not understand. There is no sense of family in the classrooms. I have seen students bully other students in front of teachers and nothing has been done to stop them. The student resource officers sexually harass my friends and by touching our shoulders without provocation and telling us that we would look prettier with a smile. All in all, this school is great if you are a conservative confederate republican. Otherwise, good luck.

Pros: The school is historic and there are a lot of nice teachers and other faculty members. The school's population isn't that big. Well I wouldn't consider it big because I moved to Brunswick from the Metro Atlanta area. We have a great arts department. There are a lot of A.P. classes. Cons: Teachers are sometimes too nice. I graduated with people who couldn't even read ,but teachers passed them. I think this school is focused more on meeting the standards than actually caring about the education students are receiving. The area is not so great. This school is diverse, but somewhat segregated. We have a beautiful campus, but there is also a lot of trash everywhere. There is no dress code and sometimes students come to school wearing pants that are too low or come to school looking "inappropriate". You're going to school, not a club. Sometimes random people who live nearby do come on campus. Students are required to wear I.D.s. If you don't have your I.D. on you get a citation. I don't really understand the purpose of wearing I.D.s Did I enjoy my time at GA? I kind of did. It's not the best school, but it's not the worst. It's an okay school. That's all. Recent Graduate.

I attended Glynn Academy for all four years of high school and graduated in 2008. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The teachers and administrative staff are all fantastic, and it absolutely prepared me for college. The campus resembles that of a college campus, with many buildings and is one of the oldest schools in the state. I learned more there than in many of the college courses I took. I was on the college prep course and took ammunition AP classes, which were very challenging and rewarding. The school is not located in a great area, but there are always police officers and staff outside, making sure no one enters the campus that shouldn't. You're always going to see mixed reviews from students and parents on schools, because every student has a different experience, and I believe much of it has to do with how dedicated to learning the student is. The teachers do all that they can, but people have to remember that they can only do so much. It is the parents job to teach their child right from wrong and be sure they are keeping up with their studies and being raised the right way. It's the student's responsibility to do their part as well. All in all, I highly recommend Glynn Academy.

I have attended and graduated form this school. I loved my years here. Now granted some teacheers care more than others but overall it was a great experience. The English department is the best. I wouldnt change a thing there if i had a chance. GREAT GLYNN ACADEMY. GOO TERRORS!!!!!!!!!
