We have attended this school for the past five years. We have only had positive experiences with Anser. Our children are excited to go to school, to take part in the activities, to see their friends, and they have always adored their teachers. They continue to amaze us with the facts they know about our city, eco-system, the Boise foothills, their math skills, their love of reading, and their ability to interact with adults. They have become confident in their knowledge of their environment. We see and know that Anser has had a large impact on them becoming well-rounded individuals.
The Anser community as a whole, in our experience, has been very welcoming. The Family Council team goes above and beyond to create space for families to get to know one another. This is a school where we cross over from just friendly hellosthere is a real community here (Anser campouts!)and we become family friends.
It is worth touring Anser and learning more about this school if you are looking to make a change. We are certainly happy with our choice to have our children here. We will miss this school and the community when the time comes to graduate to the secondary school system.

Our daughter came to this school 3 years ago after realizing that she preferred a more hands on approach to learning than our neighborhood public school could offer. She has really enjoyed it, especially her time in the middle school. The first thing we noticed when we made the switch was how much the kids are involved in day to day activitiesfully running an assembly, making school signs, helping out here and there in the classroomthese may seem like small things, but it puts the child front and center and makes them feel they are really contributingand they are. The schools relatively small environment has been good for my daughter too. Maker Space and an excellent art program have made school more interesting, fun even. The teachers are innovative, supportive, and really care. A recent addition of a theater program in the 8th grade has been the icing on the cake for my daughter, she has been loving it! We have been very happy at Anser.

We have not had a great experience with the school community as a whole. Frequent bullying and disrespectful behavior is apparent. I'm shocked at how negatively my child speaks of himself and his abilities since beginning at this school and his confidence has significantly decreased. (He has experience in martial arts and can definitely defend and stand up for himself). While the classroom environment seems supportive and safe the school as a whole is lacking psychosocial safety. We are a new family to the school and were unable to complete the year due to the environment and limited intervention and a total lack of communication from the administrative team. Local law enforcement was contacted to address safety concerns after no administrative response. The expansion of the school seems to have negatively impacted the quality of the programs and oversight. The school seems to hyperfocus and cater to IEPs and know that was a problem in the past. Unfortunately, the school also seems to attract students that have behavioral challenges which makes the environment challenging for the average student.

We moved my son here and we were worried about his math and reading (he was previously in private school) and I have to say that he is reading more independently and he has a much stronger comprehension of the math material than ever before. He enjoys going to school and even as a really shy child has not had a problem making new friends. He has ADHD and there has been no issues getting him what he needs to be successful. The opportunity for family engagement is very high and he wants to participate in school activities.

They have an assembly where students put on plays every Friday. They take the students out in the community often so many field trips. Teachers are amazing! Support staff are so committed. And the school has an emphasis on kindness, community, and hands-on learning. Our kids love this place.

Our child has been at Anser for four years, starting in kindergarten, and its been a truly positive experience. She has loved each of her teachers and has consistently done well across all subjects. When any concerns have come up, her teachers have been proactive, communicative, and supportive in helping us address them quickly and effectively.
What makes Anser truly special is their innovative, student-centered approach. They focus on meaningful learning rather than rote memorization, meeting kids where they are and encouraging growth in a way thats both thoughtful and engaging. If you're looking for an alternative to the traditional education model, I highly recommend Anser. Its a school that genuinely puts students first.

We joined Anser in 2020, and its been such a great experience for our family. Every year weve seen the school grow while staying true to its mission of putting students first. The teachers set high academic expectations, but they do it in a way that supports kids and makes learning meaningful. Their focus on community ("Crew") and adventure keep our kids feeling connected to and excited about school!
What has really stood out for us is how academics are built into expeditions and projects. It doesnt always look like the traditional approach to rigor, but once you understand Expeditionary Learning, you see how powerful it is. My child has not only built strong academic skills, but also gained confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning. Watching that growth has been amazing.
Anser has been refining, evolving, and iterating its model for over 27 years! No school is perfect, but for our family, Anser has provided an amazing experience with some really special aspects that set it apart!

WORST SCHOOL. THEY DO NOT FOCUS ON READING,WRITING OR MATH. IT IS LIKE A CAMP OR A DAY CARE. WHEN MY CHILD WAS FAILING THEY DID NOT CARE. WHEN WE PUT HER IN THERE SUMMER SCHOOL, I GOT A CALL SAYING THAT MY DAUGHTER DOES NOT QUALIFY. SHE FAILED IN MATH AND DID NOT DO MUCH BETTER IN OTHER AREAS. AWFUL. SCHOOL. THE KIDS ARE EXCITED ABOUT LEARNING DUE TO NOT BEING HELD TO A STANDARD THAT MAKES THEM LEARN. THESE ARE KIDS THAT CANNOT GET BACK THESE YEARS OF LOST LEARNING.

Anser Charter School has been exactly what our family needed after experiencing both private and public education. The Anser community is truly welcoming, and the leadership is passionate and deeply committed to their mission. While there have been challenges in the past where aspirations didnt always match the delivery, the school has made tremendous progress in recent years.
Today, Anser offers a well-rounded and thoughtful approach to education. Their after-school programs are robust, and they have an excellent team of art teachers who bring creativity and passion into the classroom. Unique opportunities like the Curiosity Lab and their focus on social-emotional learning set them apart. These programs have been instrumental in helping our children thrive, not just academically but also socially and emotionally.
Were grateful to be part of a school that is constantly growing, improving, and striving to meet the needs of its students and families. Anser is a special place, and we highly recommend it to others seeking a supportive and innovative educational environment.

We landed at Anser following Covid and are very pleased with the community and whole student learning approach. The school practices EL principles and is a nationally recognized EL school. I think its Idahos oldest formalized public charter schools.

Anser is Idaho's oldest public charter school, founded by educators to meet the needs of Idaho student. As charter school, it's not the place for special needs because of funding. Otherwise, the school meets and exceeds the needs of many students with dedicated and professional staff.
