Some teachers were amazing, others were okay, learned alot at this school, and was served well enough by it in my time there.

Once borah decides the student is absent, There is no changing it even if they're sitting in class. They try to say that the teacher's check attendance twice a period and I know that isn't true,and then they strip the kids of credit for too many absences even if they have good grades.I wouldn't recommend borah high school.

The school district has a policy regarding schoolwork where the lowest grade a child can get is a 50%. I think this is great because missing one assignment will not completely destroy a child's grade. The school district also allows for the retaking of tests and has a relatively lenient make-up work policy. The teachers all have different guidelines for this. They will let students turn things in late but there is usually a docking of points. As a parent you have to learn each teachers individual system.

The teachers at Borah are very involved with their students and are always available to help. They are kind and helpful and have always bent over backwards to help my kids. I have only had to deal with one teacher that was pretty rigid and did not want to communicate with me, only with my child. I get that she was trying to get my son to own his education, at the same time it made it difficult for me to advocate for him and to know what was going on with his class. As a parent theteachers respond quickly to any communication I send to them. They also respond very quickly to any communication from my kids. My takeaway is that they really want their kids to learn and to thrive. Sure there are a few that seem a little burnt out but even then they are still there for me and for the kids.

Borah is a very diverse school. and yet everyone gets along. All the kids seem to be very respectful of one another. They are doing something right, as are the parents.

I actually get very little communication from the leadership at the school. I get almost all communication from teachers and from the Boise School District. I am also concerned that the student counselors are not as involved with the kids future plans. I would like to see the school create more events for the kids to plan their futures be it trade schools or college. I would like more input on scholarships, mentoring and internships.

Borah is probably the most diverse school in Boise. Boise has in the past had a lot of immigrants and many of the kids end up at Borah so it is a mix of a lot of levels of ESL and education. They seem to do a great job taking care of everyones needs.

Borah is a very diverse school. My kids both tell me they have never had to deal with bullying at this school. The kids support each other and the faculty supports the kids.

As a parent I have had a great experience with the teachers. They are so willing to help in any way. They are kind, understanding and compassionate. My kids also really like their teachers and have had a good experience at this school. It would be nice if they had more parent involvement other than with sports but then maybe the faculty likes it that way. For me the most important part of a school is the quality of the teachers and the teaching, and that is where Borah shines.

My child attends this school and is thriving. I do wish there were more opportunities for leadership but she is taking charge of her own education and performing at a high level.

My daughters both got great college scholarships after a strong academic career. The school is friendly and and not as clique-y as other high schools. We love Borah and look forward to their little sister attending someday.

I attended Borah for all 3yrs of high school. I will say up front that I was not the best student, nor did I apply myself like I should have. That being said, most of the teachers were great. An Econ teacher that does not work there any more (I know this because I went to Borah during their lunch to talk to some old teachers) went above and beyond on a daily basis. Even when trying to slack off in some classes the instructors pushed for me to do my best regardless. Of course there were some that had the mindset of well if you dont want to do the work then dont and you can fail. The counselor I had is also a coach, he was probably the most important person in getting me into the right schedule to graduate. I did not partake in extra-curriculars as I felt that the sports there did have their own favorites. If you had the right background or name, you would play regardless of poor performance. There is quite a bit of diversity in this school, there are alot of refugees, African, Iranian/Iraqi/Bosnian etc. Mostly there were hispanic and African American students among the minority. If you push your kid at home too, they have all the tools to succeed at this school. Do extracurriculars!
