Great! supports student-athletes, strongly values education, large variety of inclusive clubs, some great teachers that go above and beyond for their students.

A 3/10 overall. Some of the teachers were kind and memorable, but the school definitely has issues with bullying, racism, and cultural appropriation. Students don’t understand how to treat people of other races respectfully (which makes sense due to the lack of diversity) and it causes conflicts throughout the school.

A teaching staff that goes above and beyond for their students. A teaching staff and education system that challenges it's students and fully prepares them for next level education. Mascoutah high school is a community, a family of people who show unbelievable support for one another in all aspects of life. It's a beautiful place to grow up. It's a wonderful school to to be a part of.

Teachers are rude & like to abuse power against anyone they don't like or do like

This is, in my opinion, the best school I have been to in all my years as a military child. I've been to seven different schools, three of which are in Illinois, and Mascoutah seems to excel over all. I've never been much of a "popular" kid, but I feel accepted and liked among my peers. Recently, the school has opened a club called S.H.I.N.E. (Students Helping Individuals Needing Empathy) and although I haven't joined, I am extremely impressed with the total acceptance of those in need or the LGBT community. Like every school, MHS could improve on a few aspects. Although almost all of the teachers are caring and kind individuals, some of the staff does not seem to have a filter. I have heard a few staff members curse or discriminate against gays with an openly gay girl in the classroom. Other than that, the school is all around a nice place to learn; with the new building I feel as if it is a much better learning environment. Mascoutah has many honors students and a lot of people work hard in school. We have many opportunities at Mascoutah High School and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Mascoutah High is a joke. My daughter has been told by one of her teachers that she did not care about a falsely marked down paper of hers. This teacher continues to mark down my daughter's papers even when the work has been done in partners, and are the same exact answers. Mascoutah is stingy with snow days, and it gets pretty icy around here. It's dangerous for our kids to be driving to school with too much ice. My daughter tells me racism and cliques are a big problem. Kids here like to get into trouble in such a small town. I do not recommend this school.

The school finally got its grading system competitive but unfortunately too late for those that are already half way through. Also they are ridiculous about fleecing students of money just because they forgot a school pass by forcing them to buy a new one. Lunch breaks are miserable because they force students into the dinning room instead of allowing those not wanting to be there a little time for themselves. During inclement weather, they drag the students in to attend school so they don't have to work a longer during the summer break, unlike other school districts. I grade this school a 6 only because it appears to be safe and organized, but an enjoyable for my child it is not. I wouldn't say the school is racist, but the student population seems segregated by cliques, mostly socio-economic and to some extent cultural; hard for an outsider to comfortably fit in. I can't believe greatschools.org gave Mascoutah HS a 9 grade. It may improve though, since someone there seems to recognize there's a problem (grading system change). They should try and change the student experience. Thanks - Concerned Parent

I've kept quiet about MHS because we are fairly new but after today no longer. We moved here from another state so I did my homework on the district my kids would be attending and some of the reviews I read we not to appealing but I thought maybe they are just exaggerating. Well I was wrong. First of all, I've never ever had to pay to send my kids to PUBLIC school. That was a shocker! Secondly, I don't think the school is fair in their approach to kids with their dress code and behavior. I think the school has allowed certain kids to dress a certain way. When I asked about this I got, "just like a cop can't pull every person that's speeding over they can't catch everyone out of dress code. I think that's bull. Those students see teachers several times a day. Teachers call roll and or should make eye contact with each child, if they don't how do they know who's present? I just am not getting a good feeling and some may say move and trust me I called my husband immediately asking if we could. Do your homework. Something is fishy about this district.

The school allows A LOT of racism and does nothing unless the parents get involved. My son has been in the district for over 5 years and I stay on top of the educators about my son. It's a military town so you would think of it as diverse and on the outside it appears that way but IT IS NOT. The staff have always been friendly and eager to address any issues I have regarding my child. However, they allow A LOT of racism to go on. The town is very "cool people" if your are not one of the popular parents it is reflected on your child or children. The workload is alright not all the hype they say, the staff is friendly but they allow too much racism. Which is really sad because I moved to the town because of all the great things I'd heard and the town and it's schools have yet to live up to it's reputation.

Racism at its peak. My son went here freshman year and was destroyed by the constant racial harrassment. We were forced to move when the situation became too drastic...

Alot of racism goes around, its not cool teachers seem to just shrug it off this school doesn't live up to all the hype people have shown.
