I turned in my childs 504 plan when registering. His teacher never got a copy, he didnt receive required time with the social worker, and the office lost his 504 paperwork.
My other son struggled a lot because he is above average and his class was taught for the lowest Kids in the class. There was absolutely no differentiation at all. Even after working closely with his teacher on this, nothing changed. It was so tedious each day, filling out simple worksheets all day, he completely lost his love of school and learning. They sniffed out the light in his eyes.

I had two kids here. One had a good teacher, the other had a terrible teacher. Ive seen that most teachers here just give worksheets all day long.

With the exception of my older sons teacher, Id give it a terrible rating. A brief PE/Music class once a week and no other specials. Library is run by parents. Art is done once a month by parents. Neither of my boys ever saw a computer while there. My childs 504 was ignored, my kids struggled to meet people because of a lack of social time or even group work, they literally did work sheets all day long, Kids who are advanced are held back in their learning, and everything was so tedious to them.

This is a fantastic school! My daughter started kindergarten here and now she is in 5th grade, she is very sad to move on to junior high. Every single year her teacher has been incredible--dedicated, caring, patient, and creative. The leadership is top-notch as well. Classrooms have IPADs, even in kindergarten! It is an open-concept building (except K and 1st grade classes), don't let that sway you away from this school. My daughter has never complained or had a issue with this set-up. I would absolutely pick Hinchcliffe Elementary again and again!

Do not let the open room concept sway you. My kids never even noticed it. Both of my kids (K and 3rd) are doing well here. What we do not like is the lack technology for the students and no PE. It also seems that the teachers are just there to do a job and don't really care about the students. Because of the open room concept you hear things walking through during school you might not otherwise. It's nice to pop in once or twice a month a see what you hear.

We moved from this school last year after 3 yrs. On the whole, it was mediocre, the Scott AFB schools are better. The school gets an incredible amount of funding for military families, yet there are no support programs available to military children (counseling, buddy programs, etc.). Many teachers are excellent. The principal/some local teachers have been around too long; they have no motivation for positive change, unwelcoming to new families and give the feeling that its just a job, with no genuine concern for the kids. There's better options than Hinchcliffe.
