We absolutely love this school! My son is extremely happy, and very involved here. We as parents think the small class sizes are great. His class sizes are around 18! They offer plenty of extra curricular activities; soccer, science club, student council, Let me run, Chess, basketball, softball, and many more.
The staff is very friendly and approachable. If the kids, (or parents) ever have questions, the kids can email their teacher and usually get a response immediately.
This is a fabulous school, I would give it more stars if I could.

This is a wonderful school! Teachers, athletics, academics, programs are all top notch. We will be sad when we have to move away (military)

I was a student at Pontiac Junior High, and I really liked the teachers and activities, but the main problem is the principal and the other students / safety. I was the minority at the school and was bullied by many students. People always tease me, throw erasers and paper balls at my desk, and always pass by me saying "Ew!" out loud. Whenever I report the bullies to the teachers and principal, they do nothing almost every time I report them, and the only times they eventually do something are when they uselessly confront the bullies. I was withdrawn from the school after I was accused by a few kids saying that I was being racist, and after I was assaulted by another student. I received two days of in school suspension, for the reason, as the principal claims, being to protect me from other students after the incident. I also believe they had no proof except for the students who accused me. This school was like my childhood nightmare.

some teachers seem to really like to teach and help the kids, while others we have had nightmares with; example: Every week a teacher would misplace an assignment my child turned it, teachers would confid to me they got them but misplaced them, then they would give him a 0% - 50% credit (which is not a passing grade & dropped his gpa) even though they lost it after it was turned in & they would report it as not turned in at all in his gradebook, & when I would complain about this to the principal they would lie and say they never got it from him or even spoke to me... every week, and several teachers. One teacher even told me not to talk about him to the principal! A nightmare. So much stress to deal with we are not sending our child back! Lots of bullies too and nothing done to them in way of punishment. This past year 6 umbrellas stole while on bus, 3 times hurt by others, 2 books thrown off the bus, and many books and other personal items were damaged by bullies on school property yet we had to pay for them and even when there were witnesses they got in no trouble. My son did get detentions for being "involved" even though he was victim & others even said so.

As a Military transplant, I have seen my share of schools. This is our third year in the Pontiac William Holiday School district, and i have few complaints. Students and parents get out of it what they put into it. The Science program is one of the best in the state for Junior High. The school has engaged leadership who are approachable and listen to and address concerns. The student body is diverse and the school has very good parental involvement. Teachers that care and take extra time to help struggling students, both before or after school. The school want to see their students excel and have programs to help those that need extra help. I am pleased with the Pontiac experience thus far.

I am a current 7th grader at this school! I love this because you can always go to a teacher when you are down or getting messed with. Most of the kids here are friendly, and there's a program called Character Crew that I am in. Character Crew is always doing charity work and volunteering for the less fortunate. I love this school and will be sad when I graduate!

Wow-Issues here. I may need to look around other schools and see if it is rampant in the area or just this school. Clean cut does not fit in here. We are military transplants and no owo schools are the same, but by the same token I have a lot to compare this two. My daughter has been thrown onto the ground by another student, ridiculed for getting good grades...etc These things happen, but there doesn't seem to be an expectation of better behavior from the school leadership. It's a survival education environment more than an environment for preping for higher learning.

This school is not helping my son, who is currently in 7th excel at all!!! He is doing terribly bad academically and the only thing the school is telling me is to put him on medication!! They don't communicate with me what I can do to help him. They have an after school program but that's still doesn't help him. I have asked if he can get tutoring but they don't have programs like that at this school. They are friendly when a parent goes up there but I always get the feeling like they don't want parents to be at the school. I would suggest anybody considering sending there child to this school if there child is diagnosed with ADD or ADHD to find another school. This school won't help your child.
