If your child is autistic and/or has behavioral issues beyond what a traditional school can accommodate, you are forced into this horrible organization. They will tell you in the beginning about all the great programs, support and trained individuals your child will receive help from, but this will fall to the wayside quickly. My child is supposed to have a one on one dedicated aid and this has not happened. The staff is quick to surprise you with last minute phone calls that your child is to stay home for a day or two for being too disruptive. Communication is very poor and some of the staff(HS Vice Principal) is very combative and rude when asked the most simple questions. I have a great respect for teachers, but if you choose to base your career in a special needs setting, you need to have the patience to follow through. It seems most of this staff should move to a traditional setting with regular kids. Overall, very poor experience.

This school is an alternative education school that serves students who are not able to have success in their home school as a result of emotional and behavioral difficulties. They do a nice job serving this specific population and yes, academics are not the primary function of this school, because that is NOT the primary need of the students who attend. The school does still fulfill academic requirements needed to gain a high school diploma. Pathways serves students in need of intense emotional and behavior support from several surrounding districts.
