School picks favorites, no matter if your child is being bullied, as long as the school likes the child who is the bully (most probably b/c they donate money and or go to the administration's church) they will not handle bullying correctly.

Northlake Christian is a very political, non-Christian school. Northlake claims the Lord is at the center of their school, but by how it is run, that is not true. Northlake will be a good experience for you if you donate money to the institution, if you attend the churches they want you to, and if you are a tattler and snitch, and if you constantly complain and sucker up to the administration. Academics are below any other private school on the Northshore, and no better than any public school in the area. You are paying a very high tuition for an average - at best - private school, that is a complete hoax and lie on their Christian values.

First off I am an alumni but I didn't see that as an option so I just put current student. Anyway, I had a good experience during my 7 years at Northlake, but only because of the small, private school atmosphere and the good friends I had. Teachers were difficult to deal with and acted like bullies because they don't know how to interact with- much less encourage- kids with attention deficit (and probably any learning disabilities but I'm just speaking for myself and my siblings, who had similar experiences) One teacher kicked me off of the praise team because "God told her too." If you don't like me, that's one thing. But don't blame God and bring him into this. Thankfully, I was able to resume leading a praise and worship band in college despite this lady's thinly veiled dislike for me. She did the same thing to several other kids with learning/behavior disorders and continues to do so. I have plenty of other weird stories/anecdotes but honestly the fact this teacher did this not to me, but to some good friends of mine, and continues to do this, really concerns me. Teachers should not be kicking kids out of extracurriculars and telling them God told them to. They absolutely have the authority to vet people who are going to be spiritual leaders in the school, but they should be giving the kids concrete reasons for their decision and perhaps spiritual guidance on how to improve rather than giving them the impression that it's God's fault they can't do what they love. God says that we should use our gifts to His glory. I was able to use my gift in other ways and it didn't shatter my faith or anything, but it was a messed up thing to do and has the potential to keep others from sharing their gift/being as strong in their faith. Anyway, I want to reemphasize that I did have an overall good experience here and I treasure the years I spent, so I am not trying to thoughtlessly rant against the school. This is just something that really concerns me.

I can't say enough wonderful things about our experience at NCS! The teachers and staff are top notch. My children LOVE school and that makes us so happy! I can't imagine having my kids anywhere else!

I decided to send my child to NCS. Why? Unusual reason for sure! I was reading reviews on this site. I noticed the great reviews but it was a bad review that was highly critical of the school that caught my attention then sold me on NCS.
. Lets see if I can remember a few:
1. Students have no rights 2. Dean says the teachers are always right 3. Holding kids accountable in general

Obvious to me from the comments that this parent is among those where his/her kids are BFFs, hovered over them like helicopters, pampered them, feel their child should get the trophy for not finishing first, second, third or even last because everyone "deserves" a trophy, most likely has never required the child to do a single chore, feels their child is entitled and deserves, etc. etc. etc.

Reading between the lines it seemed I found a school that does not kowtow and pander to parents but rather loves and corrects and cares to produce a strong, educated, disciplined children Reminded me of when I attend Catholic schools in New Orleans.

My kind of place....hence, child in, child happy, parent is very happy and when my child comes home and tells me he couldn't eat because he didn't have his lanyard (Actually, I found out thats not true. They make them wait till everyone else with a lanyard is served then serve the lanyardless.), I say good for them, grow up son and be responsible and stop being a baby.

I love this place.

I can only speak for lower elementary here. I've been around elementary school teachers most of my life, and opinions on homework vary. But I think in early years homework can be more a burden on parents and a frustration for small children. If they're working most of the day, they are typically pretty tired when they get home. Just my opinion, which is shared by a number of experienced elementary school teachers

Honesty, integrity Absolutely. Fairness is a term that has no absolute definition and is bandied about with little thought in today's culture which promotes moral relativism and political correctness. The life and teachings of Jesus are of utmost importance. I'm not aware that "fairness" is a Biblical concept in the same sense as Honest and Integrity. If you teach your children at home to follow Christ. You'll like NCS.

My elementary school child has been at NCS since pre-school. We have consistently had a great experience. The teachers are not only qualified and dedicated, but also loving of the kids. A spirit of community and fellowship is actively promoted. Christian attitudes, values and behavior are fostered.

The administration has done a poor job at schedules, and this year has been all around chaotic. There are a few problematic teachers that at any other school would have been fired already. Every time students bring up the issues to the administration, nothing gets done. I have the feeling it is because in the words of our disciplinarian, "the teacher is always right." This makes them and the administration look infallible.They don't allow a student to eat if they have forgotten their lanyard, and in addition to not eating, they also have to clean up the lunch room and serve a Wednesday morning detention. This is outrageous for simply not having a lanyard, especially since they are not even necessary (there are only about 300 students in the high school). Might I also add that they had been enforcing the lanyard policy the whole year, even though the rule was not approved and added to the handbook until the second semester. The administration also randomly adds rules to the handbook and does not notify students of any of the changes. Yet, you are still responsible to know the randomly, newly added rules and will face consequences. Northlake has also become more concerned with the public view of the school than its own students. It monitors students, not to make sure they are living a Godly life style, but in the words of the principal, "to make sure what your posting is appropriately shaping our school to the community, since you are the face of Northlake." Two years ago, a girl and guy did some inappropriate things on the bus ride home from a field trip. When a Twitter account even tried to pot about what happened and how the administration had handled it, Northlake called Twitter and got the account temporarily shut down. This was another way Northlake was safeguarding its reputation instead of owning up to what had happened and moving on. Northlake basically can do what ever it wants and can even randomly expel students without any cause according to its handbook. They also can have a teacher of the same gender as the student strip search the student. I have never seen it happen, but of course, "they reserve the right." They basically reserve the right to do whatever they want when they want for any or no reason at all. They have no regard for student rights, and if you want your student to be treated with respect, I would choose another option.

My children have attended Northlake Christian School for eight years now, 2009-2015. Both have grown so much in their relationship to Christ, in confidence and character because of the wonderful staff. I have been particularly impressed with the way that difficult tasks, like writing research papers are broken down and repeated year after year. Every year the kids take on more responsibility for the total paper until they really know how to do it for themselves. I consider this essential for success in college later. There is also great support for struggling students. Neither of my students are great mathematicians. My son regularly takes advantage of free tutoring after school and both have always felt welcome to go see their teachers for help whenever they have needed it.

My children have both been at Northlake Christian since they were babies, starting out in the Early Learning Center. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with each teacher they have had each year, as well as the directors and principals of their respective grades (one is still in the ELC and one is in Elementary). Since the beginning of their time at Northlake, they have received and continue to receive a wonderful Christian education that is top notch and I continue to see them grow every day. They both love learning and that is because of the environment of their school and for that I am very thankful.

My husband and I wouldn't have our kids at any school in the area other than Northlake. We didn't make this decision lightly. We take our stewardship of our kids for the short time that they are kids seriously. I'm a Northlake Alum, but my husband grew up going to other private schools in the same area, and we both agree that Northlake is the place for our kids. They are in classes ideally sized for close friendships and lots of teacher attention. They have been academically challenged but not overwhelmed. Most importantly, they have been loved with the love of Christ through their teachers. I'm so thankful that we have NCS!

I would highly recommend Northlake Christian School to any family looking for a Christ-centered atmosphere where their children receive excellent education! Having graduated from NCS myself, I have experienced many years in the school family. My children have all attended since preschool and have grown up in the school. We absolutely love the environment and the fact that the teachers are dedicated and love the students placed in their care. The school has grown and changed over the years, but one thing remains the same: Jesus Christ is the center. Because of this, the school is dedicated to excellence in education, competitive athletics, and most importantly, the Word of God! I'm sad to read the negative reviews on this site and feel bad that they have not had the same experience that we have. Northlake is not perfect because no school is. However, it's home to us and we love it!

I would not recommend sending your child to this school, I am still in shock with the way the staff handles themselves. I have never seen school staff feel the need to gossip about children and treat kids so unfair. If a family donates financially or with gifts to the school their child is allowed to have many offenses with minimal punishment. But if you are just a regular family paying your tuition and do not play into the political games be prepared for unjust punishment. I have stories for days of the terrible things I have witnessed this school put children through. The men in charge at this school are purposely attempting to destroy the self esteem of young kids. I hope you all read this and maybe find it in your heart to STOP treating people this way and learn to treat people with respect. Yes you are managing children, but children should be treated with respect. I hope this saves future parents and children from having to deal with the heartache and disarray you have tried to cause our family, yes you read correctly you tried but did not succeed.

NCS - Northlake Christian School If you don't attend a premier area church, life for your child will be hard at NCS... They administrative staff pre-judges everyone and once they form a general opinion then that's the label you wear! Furthermore, If you have Money and attend a premier area church, you can buy your way into any thing you want at NCS! Academics are poor and athletics is rigged... If your son does not play FOOTBALL then please spare him a great deal of grief and persecution! Plus the atmosphere has changed with all of the voucher kids going there merely to receive passing grades to play football. They tend to look the other way and have plenty of mercy available for the problematic (Bad Boy) voucher kids that play football... ANY OTHER SCHOOL in ST Tammany Parish is better than NCS... PERIOD!

Northlake Christian School is a great school. We recently moved from overseas and the school officials ensured that the admission process was painless; they were able to work with me from another continent! They also worked with us on transcribing records from British to American system. Upon our arrival, the leadership was so welcoming and supportive; went out of their way to ensure our kids settle in quickly. My kids love the school from the very first moment and every day, their overall assessment is - awesome! Finding a great school where there are core values and kids respect one another, I was told (before relocating to the US) can be very tasking but NCS made our experience a wonderful one for the kids and us the parents. Parents involvement is also very excellent.

NCS is a wonderful school. Any school run by humans will have its downfalls, but the heart of NCS is good. The teachers love their students and love the Lord. They want what's best for them in the end. The staff and faculty are very unified and set a common goal for the good of the students. They work long days to do whatever needs to be done to help nurture the mind and spirit of their students. The "teacher" that posted before obviously didn't work on staff the year they posted that comment or they would have known better.

We've been associated with NCS since 2007. Our two children are now in college and performing quite well. We are very excited about the opportunities afforded them in college and attribute a large part of those opportunities to their experiences at NCS. We have found that the interaction that they, our children, and we were blessed to have with leadership and other parents at the school was more than we had hoped. Friends of ours just went there for a tour with the head of school, who introduced them to the principal, and then walked them through the building and classrooms. The school is experiencing record growth and the physical appearance (building, grounds) improves each year. Our friends comment echoed our experience. You can truly feel a calming presence of God when you drive on the campus that is only reaffirmed as you walk and observe the cleanliness and orderliness of the buildings and classrooms. Your children might get a better education from homeschooling, but they would miss out on the experience of Northlake.

A truly excellent school. Our children have been there since preschool and have now been there over four years. They have always had wonderful, caring, and skilled teachers who know how to get the most out of them academically. In addition to the excellent academic record, NCS has an outstanding athletics department that we look forward to seeing our kids involved in when they get old enough. St. Tammany Parish has great schools (public and parochial) to choose from, but I highly recommend this Christ-centered school.

Sending my kids to Northlake Christian School is one of the best parenting choices we've ever made. Both of our boys started there in preschool. The oldest graduated in 2007, the youngest in 2010. They had ACT scores in the 30's. The oldest graduated from LSU in Mass Communications with a very strong GPA. The younger one is a sophomore there in Finance and doing well. My daughter has been there since Kindergarten, is going into 10th grade and doing very well also. So their academic success speaks for itself. However, their Christian character is what pleases me the most because that is the most important foundation to have in this life for success. And we know that's what pleases God the most. The school is like a big family. We all love and pray for each other and help each other when in need. They helped me when my oldest son broke his leg in preschool and they helped me when my daughter's lung collapsed last year. They are the best school family in the world. We love our school.

If you're looking for a Christian school to nurture and guide your child, you've found it. Solid academic instruction coupled with sincere moral training is what you'll find at Northlake. Is it a perfect school with perfect kids, of course not. But, the majority of students and adults are there for all the right reasons.

Our son started going to Northlake in preschool. Our plan was just to finish out preschool and go to public school. However, our son loved it so much and would come home telling us what he learned. I love it when out of the blue he mentions something about Jesus or starts singing a song he learned at school. So, we decided to keep him there. Our daughter is also in the daycare at Northlake. The teachers and faculty are awesome. They all know my kids by there name even if they aren't in there class. Plus, they all seem sincerely caring and kind. Best of all, they are all Christians. I feel very secure in knowing my kids are at Northlake.

Northlake Christian School has been such a blessing from God to our family. We moved to the Northshore after Hurricane Katrina and was looking for a place to nuture and teach our two bright children. We initially put them in the public "gifted" program but moved them to NCS because there was little nuture, less discipline and a lot of things that young kids shouldn't have to deal with. Northlake has been a safe, Christ-centered environment that loves on my kids AND gives them correction when appropriate. We gained partners at school to reinforce what we taught them at home and church. The academics have been excellent and continue to improve. Our kids have taken multiple Honors classes and done well. Both also participate in athletics and love it. We would recommend NCS to anyone who wants their children to be well rounded in mind, body and spirit!

We have been a family at NCS for 18 years now. I am so thankful that we found NCS. The teaching staff are encouraging and caring. The administration are fabulous. The coaching staff are awesome. It truly is a family atmosphere. And most importantly it is Christ centered.

Our two children have just completed their first year at Northlake Christian and we could not be more satisfied, not one complaint! The faculty and staff have set a positive influence on our children's lives from day one.The teachers and staff moniter the children's progress on an individual basis and communicate with parents regularly. The older students that have been at Northlake Christian for several years are a reflection of the wonderful job being done at our school, they look after the younger kids as if it is their own siblings. This school is a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.

My family has been affiliated with Northlake Christian for the last year - in preschool, elementary and secondary. We have had an incredible experience. Every teacher has loved our children, challenged them academically, and the teachers focus on Jesus first. I cannot recommend Northlake highly enough and I do!

The school is based completely off of politics not Christianity. Although the Bible curriculum is very informative, some of the teachers have different views than the students. This makes them seem judgmental with different religions and the personal lives of the students and families. Also the disciplinary actions go beyond what is stated in the rule book. For example: In the rulebook it states that the boys must have a certain hair length, but what is unsaid is the fact that after the hair is the right length, only certain hair styles are aloud. Although the teachers and administrators are aloud to spike their hair, the students aren't aloud to?

Northlake is constantly changing...and in my opinion has turned for the worse. Ever since the former head master left, the school has consistently made bad decisions. This school is built on politics more than on giving kids the spiritual guidance they need. Also, I think the employment at NCS is biased, especially in the sports program. The spiritual aspect of the school is falling. When Northlake falls, it will begin spiritually. I believe the downwards tumble of this school has started. The school will continue to fall unless the administration, staff, and faculty changes. You should question more about Northlake instead of falling into the stereotypical "Northlake is the best". Question yourselves, research, and really do some digging. There is an ample amount Northlake Covers up. More than any public school.

It's unfortunate some families have a bad opinion of NCS. Our son attended NCS from 6-12 and we were very pleased with the school. As a dad I was fortunate to be able to assist one day a week and can personally vouch for the wonderful staff of high quality teachers who though underpaid considered their job a calling. And they do have a great athletic program that includes football (undefeated district champions), volleyball (state champions), baseball (back to back class 1A & 2A state champions), track, cross-country, softball, basketball, wrestling, weightlifting, swimming and some I've missed. But don't just take the word of people here. Visit NCS and see what it's about. It's a growing school with great facilities. And with NCS your child is somebody, not a body adrift in a large school.

This school is amazing!!!!!!!!!! It is the best school academically and has great sports programs like football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball!!! They have amazing teachers that love their students and are willing to do anything for them!!! Everyone should go here!!! I promise it will be the time of your life!!!!
