I graduated from Holy Cross in 2004. The school did not give me a good education. Holy Cross values sports more than education.

Although this was not an issue for me, the school states that they aren't are unable to accommodate learning differences.

I've had a few meetings and also sent numerous emails to the heads of the school. There was an incidence where my son could not eat lunch because he did not have his ID and there are race issues with miniorities that the school is not willing to address. This was a serious problem for me last year, as a parent and teacher. After sending numerous emails and having a few meetings in response to my son being targeted, based on his race, I was told that the issues were "concerning" and that because there were so many diverse families and not knowing what families are reiterating at home, it would be hard to contol, but they would handle it. Right.....excuse me???? This should not be what is representated of a Holy Cross man. There is no diversity training for the students or faculty. Culture of the school needs to change, otherwise they will continue to have issues. My son was even told that black people did not need to use as much sunscreen as white people, because the chances of ethnic people getting skin cancer were slim. I've always known that these incidents were not isolated to my son, and after speaking to at least 5 other parents, I found out that they have had similar racial experiences at HC, with the same outcome ...it was brushed under the carpet. These issues are indicative of a larger issue than the school is willing to admit. The school does not enfore the Zero Tolerance policy in regards to bullying and spent more time pacifying the bully than even checking on my son, the victim. The school never notified me of any of the incidences, I had to find out from my son at carpool. You can definately tell whose parents are alumni of the school. Towards the end of the school year, the dean of students began to pick on my son for little things as a response to him speaking up about the racist children at school and tried to intimidate him into telling me things instead of bringing it to him. Academics, teachers, an extra curricular activities are good at the school. There is so much more that I could say about these incidents and the schools lack of response but I wanted to keep it as short as possible. Unfortunately, the school wont change until they wind up on the news.
