Our experience at Cedarwood has been nothing short of exceptional! The staff here is incredibly caring and goes above and beyond to create a warm, supportive environment for every student. From the moment you walk through the doors, it’s clear that the teachers and administrators truly care about each child’s well-being and success.

Academically, Cedarwood excels in offering engaging, hands-on learning experiences that keep students excited to learn. Whether it’s through interactive projects, collaborative group work, or personalized attention, the teachers make sure that each child is challenged and supported at their own pace. We’ve seen our child grow not only in academic skills but also in confidence and a love for learning, which is priceless.

Cedarwood does an outstanding job at creating a strong sense of community where everyone feels valued and included. The staff’s dedication to fostering both academic excellence and emotional well-being makes this school a wonderful place for any child to thrive. We couldn’t be happier with our choice, and I highly recommend Cedarwood to anyone looking for a school that offers a caring, engaging, and academically strong environment!

I’ve gone to ceadrwood from Pre-k 4 all the way to seventh grade, and I’m going to say, I’m impressed. Unlike Tchefuncte middle school, the teachers actually interact with you and care for your mental health. Cedarwood also makes it to where they get the parents involved and make sure everyone in the school connects, like the fall picnic, Christmas socoil, etc. Their school is also high in maintenance, with nice carpet (which is NOT in public schools) a large clean gym, a nice playground (could use a bit more for middle schoolers) and a wide field! I LOVE this school. Im currently in 7th grade, and I joined Cedarwood in PREK-4! Cedarwood is amazing! Five stars! If your looking for a nice school, for all of your kids (PRESCHOOL-7th grade) then definitely choose this school! It’s highly professional, and on pizza days you get 3 fat pieces of pizza! :D your kid will have a blast with the amazing memories they can have in the future!

I've had a few of my children educated at cederwood and academic side I cant complain.
Children seem happy enough and a good structure to the school.
Reception/admin area just gets worse ... stuck up individual in there that really doesn't depict the school culture morals or ethics.

Highly surprised shes still employed

Cedarwood has been a lifesaver for my children. They are comfortable and confident in the learning environment at Cedarwood. They are engaged in their classes, love reading, rise to the challenges that the curriculum provides, and have developed really sweet friendships with their peers. The enrichment classes are also exceptional, and we love that our children are exposed to STEM, Spanish, art, music and library.

We haven’t officially started our experience at Cedarwood. My son begins preschool in the Fall and he is so excited about this school. We toured several schools before deciding on Cedarwood. Myself and my child were left with an excellent impression after our tour. He talked about this school repeatedly and declared this is the one for him. My tour was very thorough and the staff are amazing! My son was allowed to stay with a classroom of children while I completed my tour and he didn’t want to leave when we were finished. I look forward to my son’s experience at Cedarwood. I believe we will be very here.

My kids LOVE how the latest technology is incorporated into every subject and offered as electives or after school activities at Cedarwood! Smart boards in every classroom, Chrome books for each student in middle school, fun electives such as "Create Your Own App", learning to write code in computer class, school visits by Google, filming plays in Spanish class to watch or email to parents, robotics offered after school as a team and club; it's cutting edge stuff happening at Cedarwood!

The teachers here truly care about their students and know every child by name at the school. The curriculum is challenging, and emphasis is placed on bringing subjects alive through research, engaging projects, and hands-on activities. The 5th grade social studies teacher had her students mummify a chicken before Thanksgiving break when they were studying ancient Egyptian burial practices. No boring worksheets here!

Students don't fall through the cracks due to large class sizes, and the teachers are very accessible to parents and students alike. Cedarwood is one of a kind! Come see for yourself.

How lucky are my kids? So lucky to have found this incredible school. We moved across the country and interviewed here last. Both our first grader and fifth grader had an amazing first year here. Welcomed into the community with open arms. My first grader was behind at beginning of year and now is ahead and reading at second grade level. Teachers are so well rounded with wonderful Art, Spanish, music, computer, library and sports. They are building a new gymnasium and are the only school that has a pool. Small school where both kids got everything they needed. Thank you Cedarwood , see you next year!

Our daughter is part of the 3 year old class in the preschool and we are so impressed with the advancements she has made. Her teachers give each student the attention they need to learn the basics and more. They teach on a very personal level geared specifically for that child. Just since August, there has been a major difference in our child's speech and her usage of words when forming complete sentences. We Love that we can call, email, or schedule a time to talk with her teachers or the Director at anytime and know that the conversation is honest and never sugar coated. She is always eager to go to school and feels confident when being there. We couldn't be happier in our decision to make Cedarwood her foundation for her education.

Administration is politically correct and says everything you want to hear. The education and curriculum choices are not centered on child development. This school is strictly run as a business first and foremost. The curriculum is not challenging and students are spoon fed for tests. They try to present themselves as challenging and innovative. Day to day classroom management is mundane and regimented. It is more clear as students enter middle school and children are not prepared for high school. The love of learning is taken away around second grade here.

Posted: October 17, 2015

The teachers who are effective are phenomenal! However, if you get one who is not, it can ruin the entire experience. And, because it is such as small school, if you get a teacher who does not 'click' with your child, there is no support/assistance from Administration or different teacher to switch to.

Cedarwood School is fine for 'average' children with little-to-no need for support and/or higher-level learning.

The focus in 3rd grade and up is on Duke Tip scores, so they teach approx. 1 grade level above 'standard'. (Which we were happy with, as our daughter was tested as Gifted in the public school systems, excels at the SAT, and is very interested in learning). However, the Plus programs (supposedly designed for academically-inclined children) are useless and do nothing to help ensure your child gets an above-average education. In fact, the child is almost 'punished' by taking Plus, as they have to give up other 'electives' to take Math, ELA, etc. Plus.

Strong Warning: Do not consider this school if your child needs accomodations of any type. Starting in 2nd/3rd grade, the administration essentially leaves the children to fend for themselves - and stops communicating with parents (even when it is obvious there are significant issues with the child/school situation).

For a school that is so concerned with test scores and performance, we were extremely disappointed with the communication and follow-through from Administration in so many different areas.

They are also very quick to take money for their new 'enclosed' gym. After two years of raising funds - almost entirely from parents, there has yet to be seen any actual progress made!

Pulling our daughter out of Cedarwood School was the best thing we could have done for her!

Due to the limited enrollment everyone knows everyone this includes the faculty and parents along with the students. Small class sizes mean your child gets a lot of attention and an excellent education. Extracurriculars offer team building skills and the kids the opportunity to support/represent their school.

Excellent school with individual attention. My kids love going to school at Cedarwood. We would recommend this school to anyone looking for a challenging school with individual focus.

This is my child's 3rd year at Cedarwood. She loves Cedarwood and looks forward to going to school every single day! The teachers and staff are caring, considerate, loving and nurturing. Our family loves Cedarwood and would definitely recommend Cedarwood to anyone looking at schools for their children!

Now that I am a college graduate, I have to credit Cedarwood School for preparing me so well for high school, college and for my professional career. I attended this great school from the time I was 3 until the 7th grade. I am still in touch with many of the teachers who influenced me in such a positive way. I went on to private high school and was able to implement what I learned at Cedarwood both academically and socially. I not only excelled in academics, but was also able to implement the leadership skills I learned there. Cedarwood definitely prepared me each phase of my educational journey.

I have had my child going there for 2.5 years. The first two years were ok. The third year we ran into a behavior problem with our child. The school tried to suggest that he was suddenly autistic and/or needed to be put on drugs. I was in the process of fixing the behavior problem when they called my wife up to kick him out of their school on a Monday. They did not follow the behavior plan which included calling me if at any time was to out of line. We then enrolled him in Ponchartrain Elementary(the local public school). His behavior problem is now fixed, he is happy as a clam, but I find out that he is behind in his studies. Turns out that I was paying Cedarwood thousands of dollars to get less of an education than what he could have gotten at Ponchartrain. I have since heard this story from several other parents at Ponchartrain. They seem to drum out anyone that isn't a lemming, and why on earth was I paying thousands of dollars to this school. I have learned my lesson.

I have taught at many schools in the U.S. and internationally and have never taught with a more professional and caring group of teachers who truly love what they do!!! Cedarwood is definitely one of a kind!!!

Cedarwood school was a clear choice for my elder son when we moved from Canada due to work to Louisiana. He felt the student's diversity and warm with small class rooms in grade 3. The caring teachers and staff make you feel that your kid is in safe hands. My little one is in preschool and I feel happy picking up a cheerful child at end of my workday. I believe that if some more focus is given to sports this school would be a real foundation for my kids lives. I am extremly happy to recommend this school for prek and elementary students.

Our family loves Cedarwood!! Our children began in the preschool and are now in elementary classes. It is an amazing place filled with an enthusiasm for learning and an intense passion for educating leaders of tomorrow. The administration is very forward thinking and creative in their approach to teaching the students. The faculty and parents are supportive of each other and work together to foster a sense of community and cooperation. It is a small school where really big things are happening everyday. I think if your children are excited to go to school when they wake up in the morning then you have made the right decision.

Cedarwood Staff have provided a warm and loving learning environment for my daughter who is in Pre-K. The school encourages and promotes family involvement in the classroom and through events that bring the members of the Cedarwood community together. The staff is accessible and approachable and keep me updated on my daughters needs and progress daily. I know I made the right choice for my daughter as she loves her teachers and loves to go to school.

Excellent school, diverse student body, small class size. wonderful caring teachers and staff. My children have blossomed since transferring from a larger private school in the area. The teachers are able to give focused attention to each child, and don't seem stressed out or overwhelmed by trying to manage a huge class. Class size is limited to 14 students- you won't find this anywhere else in the area.

Posted: October 24, 2013

Cedarwood school is excellent. It has an international focus and is outstanding. Although the local public schools are well regarded, this school definitely is a better learning environment and a great place for your child to develop

Posted: October 22, 2013

As a teacher at Cedarwood School I am proud to say that this school exceeds my expectations above and beyond other schools in more ways than one. Cedarwood offers an environment which is accepting and welcoming of any child. Teachers not only know the names of their own students, but of all the students in the school. This environment provides students with a sense of unity, security, and most importantly a family-like atmosphere for learning and growing. Aside from being a teacher at Cedarwood, I also have one child in the nursery class of the preschool. The staff at the preschool is phenomenal and I wouldn't dream of having my daughter anywhere else. The staff is more like an extension of our family and her face lights up each morning when we walk in the door. Cedarwood, together as a preschool and an elementary school, is a unique journey that every child should experience.

I can honestly say that being a teacher at Cedarwood School is a true blessing. It is my home away from home and I would not have it any other way. The friendships I have formed with the faculty will last a lifetime. Here at Cedarwood School, we are able to teach with freedom and creativity...and because of that, we have the most confident and happy students around!

I am a middle school science teacher, but I am also a parent because my children attend Cedarwood. It is an amazing school, very different than any other school I have ever had the opportunity to work at, observe, evaluate or attend. One of the best parts of Cedarwood is the philosophy that class sizes should remain small in order to allow all students to feel successful. As a teacher, the small class sizes allow me to teach with a hands-on approach where every student can be engaged in lessons. I am also able to give students better one-on-one attention if and when they need it. Our school may be small, but it is not small on opportunities for children to excel. Not only in academics, but also in athletics and other groups. We have the following athletic groups: girls volleyball, boys flag football, cross country, girls and boys basketball teams, an a track team. Students are able to become members various clubs, such as drama club, cheerleading and many more. In short Cedarwood is a place where students feel successful and where students love school.

Cedarwood is a school built on the principle that EVERY child deserves an education that promotes life-long learning. We call it a "Foundation for Life". This foundation is built on the consistant parent/teacher communication, the cooperation between adminstration and faculty members to constantly improve teaching strategies, and the individualized approach that small class sizes lends to classroom teachers. Because of this belief and the belief of our parents in our school, we are currently in the process of expanding the current facilities on which our building foundations were laid 30 years ago . Cedarwood is a Mandeville treasure and should be your first stop of schools to tour for next year.

Cedarwood School became my family's home away from home when we moved here 9 years ago. I have seen them nurture and educate my child so that she is an independent learner with a great self esteem. I feel privileged to not only be a parent but a teacher at this school. Thank you for so many great years. We are looking forward to watching our child grow and learn where she is valued and loved each day!

I am excited to share my experiences at Cedarwood School with you. I have three children who have experienced all facets of the curriculum areas--from preschool to lower school to middle school. I have been tremendously pleased with the quality of the teachers, of the education and the amazing school environment. Each of my children is unique and each of them have received an education that challenges and motivates them at every grade level. They are comfortable and happy at Cedarwood School. Many of their friends attend other schools--both public and private--and their joy at being at Cedarwood School and no other is often a source of conversation in our home. The sense of community simply cannot be beat!! Visit. I know you will see the spirit of the school shortly after entering the doors.

I am one the Faculty members at Cedarwood Preschool. I have been around for 13 yrs. I LOVE my job, and all the staff. I couldn't work in a more pleasant Atmosphere. The Teachers come to work ready for anything and everything that will happen in the day and life of all the children. Parents are always remarking to me how safe and loved they feel their children are here. I am proud to be a member of the Cedarwood Family.

My children have both attended Cedarwood School in Mandeville, LA. It is a wonderful preschool/elementary/middle school. They take pride in a challenging and fun curriculum and a wide variety of students and families from various backgrounds, which only adds to the learning experiences of all of the children at Cedarwood. The families are encouraged to bring and share their cultures with the Cedarwood family. Both of my children have had their own unique gifts and learning abilities. Cedarwood has embraced their abilities, as well as shortcomings, and helped my children to grow not only academically but socially. You see, they look at a child in a complete perspective: social, academic, athletic, creative. They can pull all of a child's strengths out through their diverse curriculum and build help build their confidence hence, helping them achieve academically. When I walk into the school, every person on staff seems to know my child personally and can always help when she has a need. This is such a comfort to my child which brings comfort to me as a parent. They encourage the support of all parents daily which is also a very unique quality of this school.

This school seems to be going through some changes. Many of the teachers and management are new. We had a great experience with our 5 year old, but a great deal of problems with our 2 year old. I was shocked at the one size fits all approach to children so young. We had to justify to the new 2 year old teacher and principle that our child was normal by hiring a child psychologist who said there was nothing wrong with our child. They have a very limiting program. To be honest, I really don't think this school is worth the money either. I think they had a great early reputation, and have been growing. With all the new staff and management, they are not the school they used to be.

Cedarwood School is such a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and is known for its nurturing environment and stimulating curriculum. I can't say enough good things about this school. I have a child in preschool at Cedarwood and would not have him anywhere else! Cedarwood has something for everyone.

My son is currently enrolled at Cedarwood School and is in the seventh grade. I am very impressed with the high standards that Cedarwood teachers and administration impose on their students. The staff is very energetic and know each child by their first name. The community feeling in the school is amazing. The extra-curricular activities offer a little bit of everything for each and every student. The small class sizes make it possible for each student to get individual guidance. My only complaint about Cedarwood would be that there is no 8th grade and my son will have to go to another school next year. My family loves Cedarwood School!

I have been the technology teacher at Cedarwood School for 15 years. However, most importantly, I have also been a parent. Two of my children went to school here. Our school is the type of place where everyone knows your name and there is a great family feeling. We support each other and celebrate everyday success whether it occurs in the classroom or on the athletic field. Our school is just like that. Check us out and see what it means to be part of the Cedarwood family.

Teaching at Cedarwood School has been and continues to be one of the biggest joys and blessings in my life. The faculty, students, and their families make coming to work everyday amazing and FUN! Being able to have the freedom and creativity to explore with my students is a dream come true for a teacher in today's world where most schools focus on test scores rather than fostering a child's love of learning and inquiry. At Cedarwood School, teachers encourage students to dream and create which creates the foundation for a lifelong learner!

As the parent of a current middle school student I would like to formally commend Cedarwood for its excellent academic program as well as its social atmosphere as well. When your child is allowed to play with children of all ages during recess and pe time I believe as a mother it helps them become a more well adjusted, well rounded individual. Cedarwood has a program for all and everyone feels welcomed from the start.
