Both of my kids have went to this school since kindergarten. One has since moved on to high school. He has said that he will miss it. Our experience with Champ Cooper has been overall positive, noting the changes that have happened over time making the school bigger to accommodate the new influx of families in our area. One note that could be improved on would be the amount of notifications coming from school. We wish we had been more in the loop with events and changes. We would like to see more parking, but those are peanuts compared to the problems we didn't experience here.
I am writing this review because it's my opinion that the 3/10 score is an unfair assessment, and it does not reflect the average opinions we have heard from other parents as well.

The school experience described has been profoundly disappointing from the beginning. The teaching quality is consistently below expectations and often fails to engage students. Additionally, the facilities are poorly maintained, creating an unpleasant learning environment. Administrative staff are unhelpful, making simple processes frustrating. There is a lack of diverse extracurricular activities. Overall, this institution has failed to provide a supportive or quality education. Enrolling here is not recommended.

Don't go to this school I hated every part of this school everyone I used to get bullied in fourth grade badly to the point I wanted to fight the bully then in 5th grade the only good grade I have been in other then 1st and 2nd this school changed me and my personality almost everything on my body had been talked about like it's something to be a shamed of I hate this school don't send your child to this school go to another school the teachers sit on their butts all day and give us word puzzles to do and this next part may be out of pocket but people in this school vape smoke and even... Do inappropriate things to their selves like touching them selves in class WITH A PENCIL. Don't go to this school save your innocence and time.

Champ Cooper has been a deeply disappointing experience. After over three years at a Texas school where our child with disabilities thrived without any issues, just one year here has led to multiple suspensions and countless meetings to address ongoing problems. If you have the chance to choose another school, I strongly recommend taking it to avoid the frustration and stress weve endured.

Absolutely love champ Cooper. Weve had nothing but a great experience for both of our children. Yes weve had issues, but nothing we wouldnt have dealt with anywhere else. The staff and teachers have been on top of everything. They are incredible.

In my time at Champ Cooper, I have seen lack of effort to teach kids from some teachers and a cruel and unsafe community with biased punishments. Some students who would get into fights would walk away without punishment when the other would leave with cruel discipline compared to the other. This school has fights commonly and bullying problems that don't seem to get better. Do not send your kids here.

I wish I never allow my children to attend this school. This is our last year at this school.
Posted: February 16, 2020
Most of time they send stuff home with no information on how to do it, and I'm talking about 1st grade work, as well as 4th grade.
Posted: February 16, 2020
The majority of the teachers are not prepare to teach these kids.
Posted: February 16, 2020
Yea this statement is not true about this school at all. They say no bullying at this school but it happens a lot here and no one does nothing.
Posted: February 16, 2020
No organizations at this school. The principle is never around or better yet does not say nothing.
Posted: February 16, 2020
No this school does not support students with learning differences. They want to 3 months before school to tell someone they kids needs help.
Posted: February 16, 2020
Kids get bully at this school everyday and no one does nothing for the students. They will blame your child for what someone do to your child.

The school is extremely unorganized. Any time i've had to go into the office in the morning there is extreme chaos. We had to go in for several parent teacher conferences last school year because there's not much communication between the teacher and parents of what's going on in the classroom or the expectations. There was no open house so I had no idea what the school year was going to bring for my son and how it was going to be structured. Mr Sciortino is in fact very friendly and seems to do well with students but I feel like its way past time to split this school up in separate grade levels. You have kindergarten students in the same place as 8th graders, it's a huge cluster. There's no aftercare or really any after school activities for me to get my son involved in and when you want to speak to someone of authority at the school you have to call like 5 times to finally get someone to take you seriously and return the messages. If I could afford to send my child to private school I would but this is where we are forced to send him and it's extremely frustrating. Looking forward to being back in St. Tammany in a few years.

I have no idea what they are developing they don't communicate with you. I know even know what the schools motto is or what the curriculum entails.

Really wish there was more organization at this school. No structure or communication between parents and teachers and there isn't an open house either.

I love this school... Great staff and teachers... Great organization skills ... Office has things together and are very orderly ...

If u have iap papers they do not follow it .they don't work at all with the kids

I go there and it's not the best school. Their are a lot of cursing and fights. I wouldn't suggest going here. And the teachers are sometimes very rude to the students.
Posted: September 22, 2014
This school has gone downhill. I went here for 5 years and left as soon as I could.
Posted: January 15, 2014
Joanna Sampson, 6th grade teacher, needs an attitude adjustment. I do not appreciate the way I have heard her speak to children. Especially the younger children. There is absolutely no reason to be so rude to a child. ALSO - No one seems to understand the way the carline operates. Morning drop-off is the most frustrating. TWO lines are to be formed in the car line, but for some reason parents seem to always form one causing the line to back up onto the roadway. You are to form TWO lines people! TWO. Notices need to be sent home to parents as if they were the children because apparently not they can even follow rules.

love your principal, he is one of the best teachers and great influence on children. thanks

I went to Champ Cooper and so does my daughter. It is a pretty good school, but I've found that it depends on what teacher your child has. I wish they had more afterschool activities, and an afterschool care program. And someone on here said their kids went there K-12. Champ Cooper only goes to 8th grade!
