My daughter attends this school and have been for a few years now .. the teachers communicating with parents are horrible . They take forever to email you back of you have questions .. They will not take the time to make sure each kid understands the classwork instead just let them fail and never discuss with you about any problems they may be having in class that makes them have these ending results I wish I would have kept my child at Ray St Pierre instead!! At lease their teachers keep you updated on your child needs in the classroom which would allow you to work on it at home . Worst decision I made There arent enough teachers there because they love being a teacher its more for just a pay check

As a parent of a student at Gretna No. 2 Elementary, I want to share some honest reflections on our experience. The school culture is undeniably positive, with a community that truly puts education first. The kids, parents, and staff all seem invested in learning, and the academic reputation of the school is well-known. I see parents deeply involved in their childrens education, which is commendable and uplifting.
However, I must share some concerns regarding the curriculum and instruction. While its great to have seasoned instructors with decades of experience, this can sometimes lead to a sense of complacency. Ive noticed this especially in the lower grades (PK-1), where my expectations for a dynamic and rigorous learning environment havent been fully met. Although the school promotes a curriculum slightly above grade level, it seems heavily reliant on homework rather than innovative classroom experiences. As a former educator, I believe a world-class education should engage students with concepts that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving in class, rather than through extra work at home.
Due to these challenges, Ive had to step in to reteach concepts that werent fully addressed or understood in the classroom. While I understand that many people are drawn to the school due to its reputation and the affluent families who attend, I had hoped Gretna No. 2 would provide more than just statusit should deliver an exceptional education. Its an honor to be part of the Gator community, but we are currently exploring other options that might better align with our educational goals for our child.

The curriculum is the best for children showing advance capabilities. The teachers are caring and invested.

Great school. great teachers, great leadership, great parent involvement. My only concern was the level of communication. Sometimes information was not conveyed clearly and concisely. As a first-time parent at this school, I often had to seek out information that really should have been more clearly/readily available. I think this could be attributed to folks simply assuming parents know what they are doing when they enroll their young one. I didn't.

Gretna No. 2 Academy for Advanced Studies is an amazing and challenging school for children from Pre-k4 to 5th grade. It's a five stars and a Blue Ribbon school. Dads and Moms work together with the wonderful teachers and the principal to help children success.

Gretna no.2 academy of advanced studies is absolutely amazing! This is my sons first school year he is a pre-k student, since being at gretna no. 2 academy he has learned to read, his writing skill are excellent, he can count by two's, five's, and ten's, he has an amazing bond with his 2 wonderful teachers Michelle and Margret, and he has blossomed into a social butterfly! GO GATORS!!!!!!!

I was very disappointed with this school. It did not live up to the reputation it has. I think people like this school because some affluent families send their children there. The principal is extremely unprofessional.

Gretna #2 Academy is a God sent to my child and our whloe family. We have enjoyed the 2 years that we have been with Gretna. They offer so much exposure that we may not be able to introduce our kids to due to being working parents. Thank you to the entire staff!!!

I think the review posted on July 5,2007 is wrong. This school changed my daughter's grades to 100% A. If you want your child to suceed you should encourgage him every day so he could feel nurished and loved and tell him school is great.
