As a current parent at Élan Academy, I can say that my daughter has learned a lot during her time there, and I appreciate the educational growth she has made. However, there are still many changes that need to happen within the school. Communication with parents needs significant improvement. School events are often posted on social media before parents are informed through ParentSquare, and families are not always given adequate notice for upcoming events. There have also been concerns regarding responsiveness from administration and staff, as the stated 24-hour response timeframe for parent communication is not always followed. While concerns may be discussed, there is often little follow-up or resolution of said problems. They also make changes in the classrooms without notifying parents, and students’ IEP accommodations do not always appear to be consistently followed. Additionally, there have been concerns among parents regarding favoritism within the school community involving families connected to parent leadership organizations. The school would benefit from stronger communication, transparency, accountability, and consistency moving forward. Not sure if I’d recommend this school. The only thing that keeps me happy is my child’s academic progress.

I would not recommend Élan Academy Charter School from my perspective as a current student, because it feels like we are falling behind in our education and kept completely in the dark. The education here feels very poor; our school ranks in the bottom 50% of all schools in Louisiana, with our math and reading proficiency scores falling below the state average. I often feel like I am not being challenged or properly prepared for the future. On top of that, the school does not provide us with enough information about what is actually going on. There is a massive lack of communication regarding scheduling changes, school events, or even basic daily operations, leaving students confused and frustrated. With constant teacher turnover and a generally disorganized environment, it just does not feel like a supportive or stable place to learn.

My scholar joined Élan in 2020, just a few years after the school first opened its doors on the Westbank of New Orleans. Since then, I’ve watched Élan consistently uphold its core values, leading to remarkable growth each year. The dedicated staff is truly committed to helping every scholar reach their full potential.

As a parent, I’ve always felt welcomed—encouraged to share my thoughts and ideas, get involved, and most importantly, serve as an active partner in my child’s education and well-being. Today, we’re proud to have two scholars at Élan who love their teachers and are supported, challenged, and inspired to excel every day. Our family feels a genuine sense of community and partnership with the school, and we’re deeply grateful to be part of the Élan family.

My experience at E’lan Academy has been very positive. The teachers and staff are dedicated to student growth and success, creating an environment that fosters both academic and personal development. The E’lan Academy community is supportive and collaborative, with educators who truly care about their students’ progress and well-being.

In the classroom, the atmosphere at E’lan Academy is engaging and encouraging. Mr. Price, in particular, is an outstanding mathematics teacher who demonstrates patience, skill, and a strong commitment to helping his students succeed. Math was a subject my daughter previously struggled with, but through his guidance and motivation, she has gained confidence and now considers it her favorite subject. His approach reflects the school’s overall culture of excellence, encouragement, and support that makes E’lan Academy such a special place for students to learn and thrive.

As a parent, I couldn’t be happier with our experience at Élan Academy. The teachers care about the success of every student, and it shows in the way they go the extra mile to make sure kids feel supported and confident in their learning. They take time to understand each child’s strengths and needs, and I’ve seen real growth both academically and socially.
I also appreciate how involved parents are encouraged to be. Communication with teachers is always open and clear, and there are plenty of opportunities to stay engaged with what’s happening in the classroom. It feels like a true partnership between the school and families, which makes such a big difference in a child’s education.

Parents please don’t let your kids go to this school there was kids vaping in the bathroom and getting other kid involved in nicotine!! There was another student that had brought a gun to school and the teacher did nothing about it! There was another incident that a teacher had got into a fight with another parent! I would never let my kids come here again!!!!

I was so worried about sending my 4 year old to any school in Orleans parish due to the lack of concern this city has for our Children.

I took a chance on Elan and so far it has been an absolute wonderful experience.

My preschooler loves this school and her size is very small which is a plus. Her classroom has updated technology that helps teach the kids with fun and excitement.

Not to mention both of her Teachers are absolutely amazing.
