The new building opened in august 2024 and it has been a great experience in the extensive CTVE offerings. Students are engaged and motivated to attend classes. For the most part, school is everything you expect in an American high school. The AP teachers are wonderful and the early scholar's program with metro west are hands down the best learning opportunities. There are numerous clubs and sports for students to participate if they wish to. The equity score on this site is concerning, but to be expected as our school has many first-generation students with limited and interrupted schooling that can't just equally perform during 'common assessments testing'. Waltham high school produces graduates ready to excel to the level they pursue. We know various Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Umass, NYU, Northeastern, BC, Brandeis, Bentley bound youth- a few sports scholars, and some who go to the trade schools. When you visit the school you get a sense of a mini college campus, with the project-based learning focus, the breakout student spaces offer useful collaborative-social areas. The school can improve as it finds all its potential integrating more corporate community partnerships.

Waltham is a school that is unfairly compared to nearby high schools in affluent communities, when the population in the city is vastly different, with 10+ times as many ELL students. The teachers in Waltham are (for the most part) honestly superior to most teachers I have come across in some of the "better on paper" districts. There are high achieving students getting into Ivys, and students who are new to this country for whom graduating is a huge victory. Great school, great students, great teachers.

Waltham has great schools and offers a ton of extra-curricular activities. If you’re only looking at MCAS test scores, don’t. MCAS does not cater to ELL children and Waltham has a higher percentage of English Language Learners than surrounding “affluent” communities and is unfairly counted against the schools overall scores and ranking. Think with common sense and you’ll understand Waltham is good place to be. Brand new high school and elementary school on its way, great teachers, great sports, great programs, incredible new superintendent and great neighborhoods.

I loved going to this school. school It is a very good learning area. The teachers are very nice and so is the faculty. The rules were clear and set to a certain limit that all students can follow. It is also a great school that has great extra curricular activities. It allows you to try new things and the vocational program is better than minuteman's courses.
