Cambridge Rindge and Latin School

Cambridge has great opportunities and this school definitely makes use of that, with lots of options for students. however, a lot of the teachers are not qualified to be here and should not be working with children. they ignore the students' opinions and we have to do everything ourselves while the principal (Mr smith) writes emails and takes credit for it. a lot of the teachers teach really fast and don't care about other things that are happening in your life. I've heard the extension school is much better, so if you're looking for a public high school inn Cambridge I would go there first

This school has a lot of bullying, fighting. The teachers don't know how to teach. They only work for their money.

If you want diversity, CRLS is the place for you. You will never experience a school as diverse as CRLS, and that is an invaluable experience that everyone should take advantage of. Academically, this is a place that is going to show what kind of student you are, and what kind of person you are. If you are motivated, work hard, and take challenging courses, you will have success at Rindge and beyond. However, if you screw around and don't take advantage of everything the school offers, you will not have success. It really separates the people who are going to be able to go out into the world and take advantage of opportunities that present themselves from the people who who won't do those things. A great test of character and studentship. The last thing I will say, is that if you take honors and AP level classes, and push yourself in class, you will do well because the courses are interesting and the teachers are better in those classes. It's basically the same as a private school at that level. If you take cp level classes, you will still have good teachers, but there is a noticeable gap in between those classes and the higher level ones.

What can I say? I graduated from CRLS as a National Honor Society student, Vice President of the French Club, and an actress and dancer in many CRLS plays. I got an acceptance letter from every single college I applied to after CRLS...rejected by NONE! Why? Because CRLS prepared me with a top-notch education for the world. I was a much more well rounded individual thanks to CRLS and I feel sorry for those people who didn't take full advantage of their high school years to really see the opportunity that they had at such a cultural melting pot as CRLS. I missed this place for YEARS after I left and still rave about it to friends in the current state where I reside which has nothing even comparable to CRLS.

As a graduate of CRLS and a current college student, I am still realizing the importance of my high school education in my life. I had a fabulous experience at CRLS and would highly recommend the school to anyone considering it, however I understand the school to be whatever the student decides to make of it. If one wants to slip by with poor grades and graduate, it's pretty easy to do that. However, if one wants to excel in their studies and activities to go on to prepare for a college experience, CRLS caters to you as well. Many of my close friends from CRLS went on to study at Ivy League schools like Harvard, Princeton, and Brown. All of them felt well prepared for the course work they experienced there. With a variety of CP, honors and AP courses, CRLS teaches to a wide variety of students with varying levels of academic motivations and backgrounds. However, CRLS can give students more than preparation for college, it gives them an invaluable experience with a diverse group of students, which is something that many students I've met at my college missed out on. This was the single most important thing I received from CRLS.

I have had two daughters graduate from CRLS. One in 2005, the other last year (2009). I can honestly say that they received an amazing education academically and socially. I have nothing but praise for their guidance counselors, teachers and administrators. Teachers are talented and dedicated to reaching all students. Academic standards are high and students of all levels of ability can get the support they need to reach higher. There are many resources available. Much outreach is made to parents, if they care to be informed and involved there are many opportunities to do so. Teachers provide email and even phone numbers in some cases to facilitate communication with students and families. The diverse nature of the student body is celebrated. My daughters were incredibly well equipped to navigate college life and the world because they were exposed to so many students of different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. A huge educational advantage in itself. Don't let people who really no nothing about this amazing high school scare you away. We are have a real gem of a high school. And I heard this sentiment as well from college admissions people. They like kids from CRLS!!
