I left Somerset Berkley after just 1.5 years and transferred to a school that was considered much harder, where I ended up excelling with a near 4.0 GPA. Somerset Berkley had a toxic atmosphere, filled with cliquey parents and students who acted superior just because they were from "Somerset"a town thats actually quite trashy, despite the pretentious attitudes. One teacher in particular kept me after class every day, offering extra credit because I wasnt doing well due to family issues. He promised that if I followed his steps, I would pass. I stayed after class every single day, only for him to fail me with a 64.9 and refused to round it to a passing 65. Ironically, I left Somerset Berkley with a terrible GPA, feeling worthless, but then I went to a school that was supposedly tougher and thrived. I ended up graduating with close to a 4.0 and was accepted into one of the best schools in the country.

The school is an absolute palace, It is beautiful and clean but the administration is horrible. The attitudes are inappropriate, not many seem to care about the students themselves at all. They treat female athletes like second class citizens giving them old ratty second hand boys uniforms while the males are treated like royalty. They take no pride or value in actually teaching the students and being as it is a regional high school the kids from the small town of Berkley are treated quite differently than the ones native to Somerset. The adults seem to all have sarcastic disrespectful attitudes towards the students and it really takes a toll on the development of the kids. The school needs strong leadership with better values and to start caring more about the students that are leaving that beautiful school.

In this review I will give my honest opinion on my experiences there and the things I came across. First of all, I was given very little training before given my assignments. Not once did anyone explain to me proper procedure or anything that could have helped me do my job better. The administration at that high school seemed to be very unprofessional, distant, dishonest and at times inappropriate in their conduct with the staff and even with the students. I went above and beyond for the students there, so much so that most students considered me their favorite over all. However NOT once were my efforts recognized or appreciated. Not once did anyone tell me I was doing a great job. They only ever bothered me when it came to trifle matters which honestly I couldn't care less for. I have to make something clear here. The students at that high school are all great students with limitless potential but the administration there are honestly the worst I've ever seen in my entire life. Those students deserve better than that. That high school could be one of the best in the state if it had better leadership or someone else as it's principal. This is my honest opinion of my own experiences there and I hope to see positive change in future years so that students can receive the education that they so richly deserve under a caring and involved administration.
