This is a very engaged, welcoming community of parents and students that play an active role in their experience and education. We have absolutely loved our daughters experience at CES and are very happy here. The teachers, including all the specials teachers, genuinely care about your child and want to provide a wonderful learning environment for them. There are many things the school does to ensure that each child is being appropriately challenged and our daughter has made amazing progress in all areas - language arts and math specifically. 10/10!

CES made such a positive impact on my daughter's life. Educationally, it is as solid a school as one can ask, but equally as important, it is a school that focuses on helping a child develop strong social, ethical, moral and spiritual values. My daughter's sense of self-esteem, value, and love for community and for others that she has today was built on the solid foundation that CES helped her mother and me lay.

We are in our third year at Christ Episcopal School, with our older son in 2nd grade and our younger son in the Preschool 3s. Both boys come home happy every day, and if your children spend the summer counting down the days until school starts, you know youve found the right school. CES truly lives up to its motto: Minds to Learn, Hearts to Love, and Hands to Serve.

The teachers and administrators are exceptional. From Kindergarten, our older sons strengths in reading and math were noticed without us ever asking. Teachers ran assessments, shared data, and created enrichment plans. This year, he attends 3rd grade math while in 2nd grade and is part of a special reading group. Our younger son loves preschool and has grown so much with the care of his teachers. What amazes us most is that every teacher in the school seems to know every child by name. CES is both academically strong and deeply nurturing. It's a true community where children are known, supported, and challenged.

CES is the epitome of small but mighty. I have been very grateful for the safe, vigilant, and encouraging environment the school has provided for my daughter since she entered the school mid year 2 grades ago. The small classroom size has provided the teachers the bandwidth to invest attention individually and to actively communicate with parents. Along with the standard academics, the kids have gym and recess everyday, music, Spanish, art, and the option of orchestra. The students in my daughter's class are diverse, inquisitive, engaged, and supportive of one another. Even more surprising, is how much support we have found in the other parents of the school. It is truly a community. Not being of the Christian faith, I had some questions and hesitancies before we joined, but have found that the primary focus has been on character traits like kindness, leadership, etc. It is an inclusive environment for all faiths, colors, and orientations and the school leadership is one of its greatest strengths.

CES has been wonderful for our gifted child, who is in the lower school.

We looked carefully at MCPS and Catholic schools and were worried about the huge class sizes and lack of differentiation. We also tried a different private school with small classes and although they said they would ensure our child's educational needs were being met, it just wasn't happening.

CES has been impressive. When they say they get to know each child and help them thrive, they're NOT KIDDING, in our experience. For the lower grades where of course there are no tests to show mastery, the teachers conduct formal (but not stressful) one-on-one assessments on a regular basis - quarterly, I believe. They use these not only to help kids who are struggling, but also to make sure that once a child has mastered a skill, the child can *move forward.* SOOOO different than the "if you finish your class work quickly you can do some enrichment" approach!

While remaining with age-peers (which we feel appropriate right now emotionally and socially), our child is working on different curricula based on what's been mastered. So the teacher is working with our child one year ahead in one area, and several years ahead in another. Our child is happy and thriving.

Christ Episcopal School excels in providing a personalized educational experience with a strong emphasis on both academic excellence and character development. Our oldest transferred to CES during the pandemic. Three years later, we have two kids in the lower school that are thriving.

Every teacher knows every student - even in other grades. Middle schoolers know lower school students - where does that happen? There is a big emphasis on community.

The curriculum is fantastic - rigorous and personalized. Character development is integral. Our family enthusiastically supports CES and plan on attending through 8th grade.

We recently enrolled our daughter in the preschool program at Christ Episcopal School in Rockville, Maryland, and it has been an absolutely wonderful experience. The school offers a nurturing and engaging environment that has significantly contributed to her love for learning. The teachers are incredibly caring and attentive, always going the extra mile to ensure each child feels valued and supported. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to stimulate curiosity and creativity, perfectly blending educational activities with fun. Were particularly impressed with the emphasis on developing both academic and social skills, preparing children for their future educational journey. CES truly is a special place. The teachers and staff are caring, devoted and accessible. The core academic curriculum is strong, while still allowing plenty of opportunity for arts, recess/outdoor time and life skills. One of the most appealing aspects for us is the close community. We have been involved with CES for the past 7 years. We were drawn to the school because of its community feel, friendly admissions, and small class size. And also the convenient location. The students are all friends, regardless of grade and so, are the parents. We love that chapel is a part of their weekly schedule. The school is affordable. The teachers are approachable. And there are many opportunities for leadership for the kids. The staff/parent communication is awesome and there are many opportunities for parents to be involved with the school. The musicals are also a blast as well as the many school lead activites. The academic curriculum is manageable and the school supports diverse learning styles.

As a grandparent of a 7th grader, I am so impressed with the emphasis and cultivation of character traits, such as perseverance, self-discipline, respect, responsibility, etc with these growing children. To watch my grandson display these traits routinely with family and friends is heart warming. The school goes the extra mile to provide varied resources and opportunities to each child, such as field trips, camping trips, yoga classes, finance classes, chess classes, etc.

Moved from a different school and I couldnt be happier with this school. Its a small class so teachers know the students and parents really well. Teachers are top notch, and I can feel that they care greatly about their students. There is PE everyday too which I appreciate, and active community engagement. My kids reading got so much better due to small class size and individualized teaching, and the entire school knows her. I made friends easily with the parents here. Our family love this school!

CES is a small school with engaging teachers which has helped our son be motivated to learn and thrive as an individual. The interdisciplinary approach to academics (English/Social Studies/Geography) strengthens writing skills. Daily PE with both sports and fitness is a plus for active boys! We love the diverse yet close-knit parent community and supportive school administration. Chapel time brings the whole school together, reinforcing character values in the Cardinal Character program while the Episcopalian philosophy welcomes students of all faiths. We are so pleased we joined CES 2 years ago after our son struggled in the large classrooms in public school. We feel CES is the best value for education and best investment in our childs future.

Wonderful school and community with small class sizes. The teachers and staff are amazing - caring, engaging and very attentive to each child's specific learning needs. I love that the classes are small enough that the teachers really know my children's abilities and areas that need more improvement. Christ Episcopal School (CES) is the hidden gem of schools in the Rockville, MD area. My daughter has attended since she was 2 years old. Now, as a 4th grader, she has strong academic skills and is a well-rounded and caring student. Her teachers over the years have instilled in her a love of learning and supported her growth both intellectually and socially. CES school staff are committed to more than just the academic piece of school. School days are filled with opportunities for students to work collaboratively and participate in "specials" such as Art, Music, Spanish, Violin (starting in grade 2), and daily PE. Enrichment opportunities (such as pottery, chess, and soccer) are provided on campus after-school hours and the CES camps (winter, spring break, and summer) are fabulous! CES' commitment to developing the "whole child" is outstanding! Even during the current hybrid model, CES teachers have gone above and beyond assuring that their students are learning and thriving. I LOVED attending CES. The caring, supportive atmosphere along with highly individualized attention and guidance creates a wonderful and highly effective grade school learning experience, one that prepped me very well for high school and undergrad. I am a current parent and would highly recommend CES. CES has been such a blessing to our family. My daughter graduated from 8th grade a few years ago and was accepted into a private high school's STEM program. I currently have a son in middle school and I cannot brag enough about the teachers. They go above and beyond to make sure our students are challenged. The overwhelming support my son has received from his teachers have been incredible. CES was able to adjust to the virtual setting seamlessly. For example, during the virtual setting, each week we would receive a bag full of rocks, magnifying glass, candy or other materials to accompany the science lesson. The teachers go out their way to make school engaging and fun! The school is now planning for the middle school to return to campus in January 2021.

In addition, our current leadership is awesome! She is transparent with the community and we appreciate this. It is truly a close community and great place to send your children.

Our daughter has been going to this school since 2 years old. She is in K now. Having experienced all their preschool classes and K, we just can't stop gushing about it. CES has created this wonderful combination of comfortable intimate family warmth and topnotch academic simulation. It warms our hearts to watch our daughter thriving in this school. And in this pandemic, to be able to still safely attend some in person classes and give our daughter a bit of first time real school experience is just priceless.

We moved to this school from MCPS and have been extremely pleased with our experience. We had actually never considered private school but during the pandemic, realized that virtual learning was not effective for our child. We are so grateful that during this challenging time, we found CES. I remember after the first day of school my child remarked how great it was to be able to participate in class discussions because the classes were small enough for all of the students to engage with the teacher. We have found the teachers to be caring, enthusiastic and to consistently go above and beyond to ensure that each student has his/her individual academic needs met. The curriculum is appropriately challenging and fortunately, due to the small class sizes, each child is able to receive the individual attention necessary to succeed. In addition to the strong academics, I am also very pleased that my child has P.E. every single day and the school makes an effort to ensure that the children engage in a wide variety of sports and physical activity.

In sum, during the time my child has attended the school I have seen a level of growth and confidence that is such a pleasure to witness. Equally important, my child has developed solid time management and study skills that have contributed to a successful experience. However, what has made me the happiest about our decision to attend CES, is that for the first time in several years, my child is actually enthusiastic about learning and truly enjoys going to school every day.

This is a warm and loving, family-like community with excellent academics. I graduated from CES myself, very well prepared for high school, college and the business world. It was always my hope to send my own kids there and thankfully they are having the same experience I did. I cannot stress enough the quality of the amazing teachers and staff at this school. They are truly one of a kind. In addition to a strong academic curriculum the school offers daily PE, art, music, Spanish and a wide variety of after school enrichment classes. During Covid, they were able to pivot to distance learning immediately and successfully, adapting as they learned what worked best for the kids. They currently have Kindergarten in person full time, with serious attention to safety procedures that we have been very comfortable with. Other grades are in a hybrid model with the same attention to safety while in school and the needs of the kids while learning at home. I am so grateful that my kids are CES students during this pandemic. During a pandemic or not, this school offers a caring environment where kids can thrive emotionally and academically.

I truly cannot say enough good things about Christ Episcopal School. My child started in pre-K and is currently in the lower school. Graduates are well-prepared both socially and academically for high school. I was impressed with the students from the moment I set foot in the school on a campus tour, as the Upper School "ambassadors" greeted us, made conversation, and were remarkably poised for their age. From the wonderful teachers and staff (all the way from "specials" teachers to the Admissions Office) to the welcoming and inclusive parent community, CES is, quite simply, a beautiful academic environment. The teachers have also done a fantastic job with remote learning during the covid-19 pandemic. While most of the kids are now in-person or on a hybrid model, my child didn't miss a beat during the period of all-remote learning. CES is an outstanding school and I can't recommend it highly enough!

But unfortunately, the current administration has started to take on many public school "values" and approaches, which is one reason many families go into private schools. This school is perfect for the parent who has never been to private school themselves. It is ideal for the child who starts in lower school and works their way up. The middle school teachers are not well versed in learning styles of the 21century child. The teaching strategies are like something out of the 1950's, which even the best private schools in the area avoid.

I grew up in private and public schools, so my family and I had something to compare it too. The school seems to take advantage of lack of knowledge of the parents who have never been to a private school, as well as the parents of students who started at the school at a very young age, which means they have nothing to compare it too. If this is the first time you have sent your child to private school, then it is easy to accept a lot more of the b.s. There are several families whose kids are now seniors in high school who say, that their kids were no more prepared for high school than if they attended their local public school. So do not get caught up on "it's the best, it's a hard school." Everything takes work. The students who are graduating from public school and going to private high schools are doing just as well if not better.

Take the time to ask serious questions of your child's teacher, make frequent requests to sit in on the classes to observe the teacher-student dynamics. Do it several times a year if possible. One of the red flags was having a teacher tell me about how the kids act in public school. First of all, there are a variety of reasons why kids attend public schools. Secondly, MCPS has been very competitive in strategically getting kids in private schools to attend public schools. To have a teacher talk down about children in public schools, to a parent was disturbing and unprofessional. The turn over rate is significant in middle school. Keep your eyes wide open and consider what is right for you and your family. The lower school teachers seem to have a better pulse with their students than middle school.

The staff needs training in cultural sensitivity if they plan on making room for more students of color. The non verbal communication between students of color and their counterparts is completely different. They are not having the same experience. My daughter never heard of the N word until she attended CES.

Many teachers are not certified. Or as the parents say "real teachers". Leadership needs to start monitoring the dynamics of what is going on in the classroom regarding teachers and students. The kids are made to feel inferior if they are not in line with the rest of the class. That is a leadership issue. The teaching methods are archaic.

The school quite simply produces well-rounded children, both socially and academically. The academics are extremely strong and graduates pretty much have their pick of high schools.

What's more, the school has an amazing sense of community. There are no cliques or egos among parents, no helicopter parents making extraordinary demands for their kids (or if there are, they are politely put in their place). My daughter's class is one of the larger ones at the school - 24 overall, split into two classes - but they all get along as brothers and sisters. Older students mentor the younger ones, both in Chapel and academically.

It's definitely one of the best-kept secrets in Montgomery County.

The program is superb. We and other parents can count on extremely strong academic fundamentals...with excellent language arts, writing and mathematics instruction reinforced and put to use in student teams tasked with research and problem solving. My older son has been at CES since he was 4. He is now a first grader. The administration is excellent, the teachers have been caring and attentive, and the school really does partner with parents to help develop your child's character -- a factor that is sorely insufficiently emphasized in the educational process generally -- but certainly not the case at CES. I've been especially pleased that during the kindergarten year my son went in just knowing his alphabet and at the end of the year, was a confident reader who wanted to read all summer.

When we were looking at elementary schools in the area, we wanted one that didn't just educate children to be great students but to be great people as well. We found this combination at Christ Episcopal School. The unique LIFT curriculum, developed with Johns Hopkins, and small class sizes educate the mind. The creative daily PE curriculum encourages teamwork and sportsmanship, while building strength and coordination. But the strong sense of community that builds respect for others inside and outside the school is what sets it apart for us. We were most impressed by the mentoring programs that has older students working with younger ones. This interaction creates not just a community of learners but a CES family, a term you will hear often from parents, administrators, teachers and students. We look forward to being a part of this family for a long time.

Our middle school child has been at CES since Pre-K and I have to say it was a sheer stroke of luck that we came across this gem of a school in the center of Rockville, MD, all those years ago. The CES community (administration, faculty, families, alumni, and students) is an amazing place to be a part of! The education that is offered at CES is rigorous, challenging, and well rounded. We love that the kids take part in PE everyday, there is a wonderful musical instrument program, Spanish starting in kindergarten, and unique educational opportunities (such as a partnership with Johns Hopkins University). We know our child will be fully prepared to have great success in high school, college, and in life! CES is an excellent school!!

Great education and caring staff. My son has being there since Pre-k. He is involved in all activities such as theater. The teachers are great. I have easy access to his teachers. Overall they teach the kids to be well rounded kids.

My middle school child is what is called "a lifer" at CES! It has been a joy and a pleasure to watch him grow from a timid preschooler to a bright, confident middle school student who continues to receive an excellent education, consistent nurturing and sound moral grounding from this excellent place of all-around learning. The Head of School and faculty are exceptional, the parents are committed and caring and the school was just selected by Johns Hopkins University to engage in an educational partnership. There is truly no better place to send your precious children!

What an amazing place! We started here a few years back and admittedly there were some difficult times as administration had to make some difficult decisions. Even though it's hard to see teachers leave the community, it's often necessary for the betterment of the school. CES is now FULL of amazing, well-trained teachers who take great care of the children everyday. They are so kind and really listen to parents' concerns. The administration are full of educators, not business people trying to make a buck off of children. Their knowledge of what the children need are paramount to the overall experience. If you live in Montgomery County and want a safe school with the best teachers, call CES right now.
