Simply an amazing experience. I cannot recommend highly enough. I am grateful to Manor for providing both my children such a strong foundation in academics and in life skills generally.

Manor starts homework in the first grade, but it is minimal (spelling only; study flashcards for weekly math tests). Children learn the importance of daily work but are not overburdened by homework. In second and third grade, the homework increases slightly, with more emphasis on cursive that sometimes comes home as homework and occasional Spanish homework.

We have two children at Manor and this is our sixth year at the school. The teachers are simply amazing. From preschool through elementary school, the children are learning far beyond what they are taught at pretty much any other school (public or private).

Both of my children have developed into strong leaders, in part based on the opportunities they are provided at Manor such as the inherent "teaching" role older children take in mixed-age classrooms, which is formalized in third grade when third-graders tutor in the primary classrooms.

The head of school does an excellent job of ensuring and retaining talented teachers, which is the most important thing for education.

The Montessori approach meets each child where they are; superstars are challenged with advanced curriculum, while those that need more help are not marginalized in part because of the mixed-age make-up of each class. As a result, kids of all abilities are social and not "labeled" to keep their confidence high. This is a great model for all types of children, though I have not seen Manor bring in learning specialists for children with special needs. The teachers are very willing to accommodate learning-challenged students within the classroom though and are very willing to meet with parents to discuss appropriate accommodations.
