The bad reviews are from informed individuals who know and understand this schools dynamics and culture very well. Therefore theres no upset parents over here, only ones that are fully aware of what an authentic Montessori environment should reflect and embody.

Honestly, I dont know where the bad reviews are coming from maybe one or two upset parents? Our experience at Manor has been great! The teachers are so kind and really care about the kids. My child loves going every day and has grown so much since she started. Weve felt really happy and supported here.

Truly a highly disorganized and dysfunctional place ranging from lack of communication, lack of transparency, poor leadership and lagging management. My family had high expectations given Manor Montessori was the first Montessori school in the state of Maryland. The quality and standards of this school have deteriorated. It was incredibly disappointing and disheartening to see as there are some exceptional educators still left behind in the rubble.

The Manor Montessori School is a well-established school that is the first Montessori school in the state of Maryland. The staff are nurturing, kind, educated, talented and experienced with a very low turnover rate. During and after Covid there were many differences of opinions on Covid protocol between staff and parents which we know many schools experienced. But we were praised over and over for the manner in which we handled the safety and health of the children and staff.
The Manor Montessori School not only offers a wonderful Montessori program which is AMI based but also offers Spanish, Chinese and soon French as well. Music, Art and Gardening are incorporated in the program. Soccer and Tennis (for the older children) are also offered.
Please visit anyone of our 3 campuses: Potomac, Rockville, Bethesda to see for yourself what a lovely, happy, respectful and fun environment Manor School truly is. We are always very welcoming to new and current parents. Thank you.

Incredibly unhealthy work environment, trickling down from the very top. This, of course, affects the children. They deserve so much better. Steer clear.

Our two children attended the Oaklyn campus last year and it was a nightmare! There was no communication with parents, very bad management, and my kids didnt learn much.
The lead teacher decided she wanted to come in three days a week and this was not communicated to parents from beforehand. Seems like we werent the only family to not return this year and more than half of the kids who were in my kids classroom decided to enroll elsewhere.
We are paying much less now at my kids current preschool and getting so much more out of it! Manor Montessori seems more interested in making money than our children!

Please reconsider sending your child to this school, especially if you are sending them there for a "Montessori" education. Our two kids, ages 5 and 7, attended last year, and the entire year was hell, and I am not exaggerating. I cannot speak much regarding the preschool. Our 7 year old daughter aged out of the Montessori preschool where she went and in order to have one drop off we transferred our son along with her to go to Manor. We transferred our son back to the original preschool within one month. This was due to what we noted as negligent behavior by the teachers, particularly the morning care teacher who sat looking at her phone all morning. Our son cried every morning at drop off and barely touched his lunch, which never happened previously
Our daughter attended 1st grade, and that I can definitely speak to. First, this is not/not a true Montessori experience although the school super prides itself on being an AMA school. There are TONS of worksheets, and even one of the teachers agreed that some of the assignments were not at all Montessori. When I mentioned this to a couple other teacher friends I have, they said Manor was not regarded well as a Montessori school.
Second, the administration and teachers have very little interest in communicating with the parents, either about the day to day inside the school or any policy changes. In our case this had to do with Covid policies, which of course I understand changed, but the parents were NEVER informed and I had to hear about everything from my 1st grade daughter and only then confirm with the school. This included having the kids watch TV during lunch to have a quiet lunch or having them watch a book on tape. Why not read the kids a book if you're paying for a Montessori experience. The communication from the teachers and the administration to the parents is once per month and rarely says anything worthwhile. The numbers of pictures the teachers shared went from 40 in September to 5 by April and then none. When I repeatedly tried to get involved the administration told me to back off.
There is ZERO parent community in this school. And there is really no interest in having activities where parents can come together and get involved with the school and teachers.
There are also zero before/after school or enrichment activities like there may be at other schools. No soccer, STEM, etc offered ever.
This school is also not safe. The doors/windows are kept open and there is no fence, camera

Our son joined this school as a two-year old and our experience that year was of a warm and nurturing educational environment. The next year, however, was a nightmare. It began with us being informed that our son was being removed from the class he had been on the wait list for and had gotten into to one we were desperately trying to avoid because another mother had made it clear that her son needed to be on my sons class and they couldnt accommodate both children in the one we had chosen. When I complained to the owner as to why another parent had more influence over our son's class placement than us, she covered up what had happened by saying that he had never gotten a spot in the original class despite us having been notified by telephone otherwise. The head teacher of his 3-year old class was just awful. She didnt hesitate to say and demonstrate time and time again that she was just waiting to retire in a year or so. She was rude (to both students and parents), inpatient, cold, rigid, lazy and ruled by fear, and I often times saw her raising her voice and reprimanding the children for no good reason, including my own and in front of me. And while her behavior may have been tolerable to the five-year olds in the class, it was too harsh for the three-year olds who were at a critical time in their development, when their personalities and sense of autonomy and self-worth were forming. If it werent for a relocation, we would have taken our son out mid-year. I heard several parents requested class changes the following year, and it was unfortunate that management seemed unwilling to correct her behavior and chose money over our wishes.

We had a great experience at the St. Dunstan campus. The teachers were compassionate and knowledgable, took great care of the kids and developed individual relationships with each one. The kindergarten program was amazing, with 4-1 ratio and individual attention especially in the early reading and writing steps I felt my son jumped a whole grade and it saved me a lot of work at home. We will miss Ms. Angela and the whole team at St. Dunstan's!
